Q&A with Toni Braxton of 'Every Day Is Christmas' on Celebrating Christmas With Family
Singer and actress Toni Braxton of "Every Day Is Christmas" tells us about her family's special Christmas tradition and more.
Does your family have any special holiday traditions?
We always get together for Christmas—the whole family. We spend all day in the kitchen cooking together, "discussing" who cooks what the best. Of course, as the first daughter, I am also the best cook.
What's your favorite Christmas memory?
I am a PK (Preacher's kid). When we were children, the church was the center of our lives. We all sang in the choir at church, and Christmas time was the best time of the whole year. The Braxtons love to sing and those memories are my favorite, singing at Christmas with my sisters.
What was your favorite part to shoot of "Every Day Is Christmas"?
I loved every day of shooting this movie. Getting to work with the actors, especially Mike [Dopud] and Gloria [Reuben] was truly special. Mike is such a great actor and a dear friend for my entire adult life. He is a wonderful actor and a great person—one of my favorite people. I didn't know Gloria before the movie, but she is so wonderful and generous to work with. She is such a pro, and working with her made me better—every day and every scene. My favorite part of the movie was working with both of them.
What's your favorite thing to eat around the holidays?
My favorite thing to eat around the holidays is everything—then I diet and workout after. We just love the holidays and all the great food that is a part of it all.
Do you like to sing Christmas carols? Which one is your favorite?
I love to sing around the holidays, but I love to sing all year long. I have so many favorite Christmas songs, but this year my favorite is "Every Day Is Christmas," of course.
Do you have any advice for people who have a hard time around the holidays because they miss their loved ones?
I don't have any advice for people missing their families over the holidays, but I send them my hugs, my love and my prayers that everyone has a beautiful Christmas.
