Laura Mackenzie Phillips is the daughter of the late John Phillips, lead singer of “The Mamas & the Papas,” and Susan Adams, a descendant of the president John Adams. Mackenzie first captured audiences’ attention at age 12 when she appeared in the Academy Award®-nominated film “American Graffiti.” Two years later, she landed her breakout role staring with Valerie Bertinelli in the popular series “One Day at a Time.” In the 1980s’, Mackenzie also toured as a singer with “The New Mamas & the Papas.”

She continues to work as an actress, starring in the Disney Channel series “So Weird” and in the award–winning indie film, “Peach Plum Pear.” Mackenzie has also made guest appearances on television shows including “Cold Case”, “ER”, “Without a Trace” and most recently “Criminal Minds.”

Mackenzie currently lives in Los Angeles and has a grown son, Shane.
