Project Runway Season 11 (3rd Place)

After competing in Season 11 of “Project Runway” and placing third, Stanley has had the opportunity to work with Bob Mackie, dressing celebrities such as Cher and Carol Burnett.

Stanley’s design aesthetic is a combination of couture and American sportswear, creating looks that are effortless and sophisticated. He knows how to play the game and already has a strategy in mind to win over the judges on “All Stars” with his smart designs and charming personality.

Bring us up to speed! What have you been up to since your time on “Project Runway”?
I decided to keep designing for my private clients and I also continued my other passion which is costume design. Currently I’m working on the television show “black-ish.” And I’m launching my own line of clothing!

What garment from your season of “Runway” do fans compliment you on the most to this day?
The garments that fans compliment me for are the floral dress, the design your own print dress and the gown from the London trip.

What do you think you are best remembered for from your season?
I would say that I was best remembered from my season for being a strong contender, and for my finale collection, which was a disaster!

What are your strengths as a designer at this point in your career? Any weaknesses you’re still working on?
I think my strengths as a designer now is the fact that I know who I am and know that being 100 percent authentic will produce the best in any endeavor. I’m still working on my time management. I tend to take a long time to produce, but only because quality can’t be forced… but I still need to make money.

How has your design aesthetic changed since your time on the show, if at all?
I don’t think my design aesthetic has changed. I think that I have evolved as a person and it has definitely changed the way I design and the way I want a person to feel like when they wear my garment.

Who is your favorite fellow “Project Runway” designer from any season, including yours, and why?
I would say that Fabio is truly one of my favorites because he stays true to who he is as a person and it resonates in his work.

What makes you all-star material?
I have always been an all-star material! Now the rest will know… I had to go there!
