On April 17, 1974, Victoria Beckham was born in Harlow, Essex, United Kingdom. Beckham first became famous as Posh Spice, a member of the successful girl group the Spice Girls. However, she has since transitioned from a pop superstar to an international fashion designer. Beckham recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of her fashion brand. Like everything else she does, she is sure to celebrate her 44th birthday in style!

Beckham, who was born Victoria Adams, decided to pursue a singing career after watching the musical “Fame” when she was eight years old. She studied dance at the Jason Theatre School in Enfield, London. At 17, she attended Laine Arts Theatre College in Surrey, taking dance lessons on the side. She also joined a band, Persuasion, that performed at various disco clubs. In 1993, Beckham answered an advertisement looking for performers to join a female pop music group. Beckham, along with Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton, was selected to become a part of the band that would become known as the Spice Girls. Selling 85 million records worldwide, the Spice Girls are the best-selling female group of all time.

Beckham became a style icon, as well as a paparazzi favorite, especially after her 1999 marriage to soccer megastar, David Beckham. After briefly venturing into a solo music career, Beckham began what would become her fashion empire. In 2006, she published the style guide “That Extra Half Inch.” The same year, she partnered with various companies to bring jeans, handbags and a popular array of sunglasses to market. In 2008, she officially launched her own collection, debuting with a line of dresses. At first, she struggled to get the fashion world to take her seriously. However, today her collections are shown during the prestigious New York Fashion Week and have gained critical acclaim worldwide. Her ever-growing global label has expanded to include handbags, sunglasses and shoes. Her business is now valued at $130 million dollars.

Over a decade since her first official launch, Beckham presented her Fall 2018 line during New York Fashion Week, where she channeled contemporary art into her collection. As she explained in a WWD interview, “I’m always inspired by contemporary art, and I think that you can feel that when you look at some of the prints.” To celebrate her 10th year as a fashion designer, Beckham plans on taking her Spring 2019 fashion show back home to England in September 2018.
