Celebrity makeup artist Karan Mitchell shares how she created Selena Gomez's latest red-carpet look:

"For the MTV Movie Awards, Selena wanted her makeup look to be fresh and flawless. We went with a look that had a soft focus and pretty pink lips.

I started with Selena's eyes. I selected the COVERGIRL Shimmering Sands Eye Enhancer 3-Kits Shadows for her shadow. I used the medium shade of the palette as all over the eye area. I then used the lightest shade on the inside corners and as a highlight under her brow bone. I then lined her upper and lower lashline with COVERGIRL Perfect Blend Eyeliner in Basic Black. To line the upper lashes I used COVERGiRL LineExact Liquid liner in Very Black and drew a slight wing on the outer corners. I added a few individual lashes and used three coats of new COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Water Resistant Mousse Mascara in Black (available nationwide in July).

For her flawless skin, I used NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Oak. On her cheeks I applied COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry under the cheekbone and blended upward.

I then finished the look with COVERGIRL LipPerfection lipcolor in the soft shimmering pink shade Sweetheart and COVERGIRL ShineBlast Lip Gloss in Dazzle."

Celebrity makeup artist Karan Mitchell shares her notes on Selena Gomez's latest red-carpet look:

The Inspiration
For the Golden Globes, Selena chose a beautiful Catherine Deane gown with chain accents, so I focused on the coral and golden tones to create a complementary beauty look.

The Eyes
For the base of the lid, I used the first two shades from the Anastasia Beverly Hills ILLUMIN8 Eye Shadow Palette in #1, blending on the eyelid as well as from the crease to the brow as a highlight. Next, I blended the soft plum accent (shade #4) on the crease, blending up and outward all the way to the eyebrow on the outer edges. Next, I wet the deep onyx shade from another Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette (#2) and used it as a liquid liner on the top lashes. Next, I round-brushed Lash Lifting Mascara into the root of Selena's upper and lower lashes for definition.

To define the brows, I sketched in Brow Wiz from Anastasia Beverly Hills (Medium Ash) using light upward strokes, filling in brows completely by drawing little hairs. Then I used the wand brush on the other end of Brow Wiz to blend the brow color through. This helps to soften the product and create a natural effect. To highlight the brow bone, I applied the brand's Brow Duality highlighter pencil (Camille/Sand) on the brow bone, starting above the iris to the end of the brow, and blended using my fingertip.

Lips & Cheeks
To achieve Selena's glossy, petal-pink lip, I used Anastasia Beverly Hills HydraFull Gloss in Sugar. Then, using my ring finger, I gently tapped the crème cheek color from the brand's Highlighting Crème Duo (St. Tropez) to apples of her cheeks, blending to hairline. To finish, I applied a small amount of the liquid highlighter along Selena's cheekbones and blended some on her shoulders, too!

Get the Look: Selena Gomez's Smoky Blue Eye

Selena Gomez’s sunny, girl-next-door personality is what inspired makeup artist Karan Mitchell to create this latest look for Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. Below, Mitchell shares a step-by-step guide:

"For the eyes, I started with NYX Concealer Jar in Fair as a base on the lid and then added a touch of Highlight and blended from the crease up to the brow. I then applied the highly pigmented sapphire blue shade from the brand's Eye Trio in Aquamarine on the lids as well as slightly above the crease. Nest, I blended the deep blue of their I Dream of Antigua 5 Color eye shadow palette on the outside corners of her lids. Over that, I lined the entire eye with Magic Kohl Eye Liner pencil by Givenchy. Two coats of NYX Professional Mascara in Black finished the look.

Selena's complexion didn't need much, so I used just a touch of NYX Cosmetics Tango with Bronzer Stix #2 in Merengue Flush on the apples of her cheeks.

And on the lips, I used NYX Cosmetics Lipstick in #174 and Mega Shine Lipgloss in #104 for that soft, fresh nude-lip look."
