5 Easy Ways to Avoid Looking Like a Hot Mess

Posted by babu 2:08pm GMT

Handout/WireImage

Keep these simple beauty tricks top of mind to avoid a "Snooki" situation:

Issue: Makeup Meltdown. Quick Fix: Q-Tip, Blotting Sheet & Compact Lash Curler.
Pack these 3 small but mighty tools and you'll be ready for almost anything. Use the cotton swab to blend eye liner or shadow crease marks, erase mascara mishaps and even smooth brows. Next, rid of excess oil in a flash (without disturbing your makeup) by dabbing a single sheet of blotting paper along your t-zone, leaving just a touch of shine on your cheeks for a natural finish. Last but not least, open your eyes and amplify your lash line with a quick curl.

Top picks: Fitzsu Black Q-tips Black Cotton Swabs ($7, Fitzsu.com); Sonia Kashuk Blotting Papers ($6.99, Target.com); Japonesque Limited-Edition Pink Ribboned BCA Pocket Eyelash Curler ($11, Ulta.com).

Issue: Not-So-Fragrant Scent. Quick Fix: Single-Use Towelette.
Blame it on too much dancing, a spilt drink or someone's smoking, but B.O. is never acceptable. Or appreciated. To keep your body, clothes and hair smelling fresh, always pack a single-use towelette of your favorite scent (or one with notes that compliment your chosen fragrance) and use as needed.

Top pick: Tocca Stella SPF 30+ Sunscreen Towelette ($28, Sephora.com).

Issue: Untruly Tresses. Quick Fix: Lip Balm.
There are hundreds of brilliant, all-in-one beauty balms I could reccomend but, in a pinch, your basic lip balm will do the trick. Use it to smooth dry ends, define, add shine or tame frizz and flyaways. Just be sure to apply sparingly— you can always re-apply.

Top pick: C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve ($5.50, BigelowChemists.com.com).

Issue: Sore Feet. Quick Fix: Purse-Friendly Flats.
The key here is prevention, so be sure to protect your soles with blister blockers and cushioning insoles before sliding on sky-high heels. Not one to think ahead? Keep a pair of classic, compact flats in your go-to evening (or day) bag. They're easy, affordable and designed to fit in the smallest of sacs.

Top picks: Band-Aid Active Friction Block Stick ($7.99, Drugstore.com); Foot Petals Stiletto-To-Go gift set ($19.95, FootPetals.com); SpareSoles Metro Foldable Flats ($29.95, SpareSoles.com).
