Jennifer Aniston's Stylist Shares All

Celebrity stylist Chris McMillan on the inspiration behind Jennifer Aniston's new 'do:

"I call it a hairline bob that follows the jawline down. It's shortened in back and longer in front. It's angled and inspired by Vidal Sassoon haircuts and Julie Christie from Shampoo... It was just time for a change. We had a blast doing it. And we've always liked this haircut. It's about keeping things simple. The way Celine and Calvin Klein and Jil Sander and all these clothing lines are keeping it really simple and chic. I really feel that fashion right now. All the styles are back to when I first started doing hair. And I love it."

McMillan's tips for achieving the look:

At the salon: "In the back it angles up — it was cut at the nape. I love it when it's slightly angled. The angle adds a modern edge to it. To keep it modern, it's not too blunt but also not too layered. It kind of has a choppier edge. The ends are cut into, but mainly they're all one length."

At home: "A haircut at this length can tend to be a little round. You want to keep it a little more square. So I took the flatiron to straighten out the underneath pieces to take some of the roundness out, and I left the top fluffy and full. I used a bit of mousse at the roots to give it height at the crown."

What's Most Attractive to Men: A Woman's Face or Body?

According to Allure, a recent study found that men seeking a long-term mate are far more likely to focus on the face, whilst those who want only a short-term commitment pay attention to the body. (No word yet on women like Adriana Lima, above, who appear to have it all.)

A Primal Urge for Makeup?

Posted by babu 4:34pm GMT

Rocha/Splash News

According to Allure, a new study shows that our drive toward wearing makeup may actually be
due to a biological urge.

It seems women's faces have a greater color variance between the eyes, lips, and surrounding skin than men's—
a contrast typically exaggerated with cosmetics.

"Though people are not consciously aware of this, they unconsciously use contrast as a cue to tell what sex a face is," says Richard Russell, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Gettysburg College. "And since femininity and attractiveness are highly correlated, making a face more feminine also makes it more attractive."

Expert Advice: Thinning Hair

Posted by babu 5:40pm GMT

Splash News

Do you have fine, thinning tresses? Create the illusion of a fuller mane with these top tips,
courtesy of superstylist Garren:

—Keep your hair shoulder-length or shorter, and with a blunt cut.

—Side-part your hair for more coverage over the crown.

—Coloring your hair can actually make it appear fuller because it makes the cuticle swell. (Ask your colorist for the gentlest formula possible—single-process dye without ammonia is best.) But don't go too dark—the contrast with your white scalp will make thinning areas more obvious.
