Get the Look: Kristen Stewart's Copper-Smoky Eye

Posted by babu 1:49pm GMT

Celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles shares how she created Kristen Stewart's beauty look for the LA premiere of "A Better Life":

Using a synthetic brush I swiped on CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation where needed and then blended it out with a damp sponge so the coverage was sheer and luminous. A light dusting of translucent powder set the foundation. I swept a bit of CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Natural Rose onto the apples of the cheeks for a soft and subtle flush.

For the eyes, I smudged on the deep rusty bronze color of CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Purple Plume from the lash line to above the crease blending it toward the brow bone. Then I used a bit of the plumy color in CoverGirl Exact Eyelights quad for Green Eyes over the ShadowBlast to add depth to the color and to add a bit more definition at the outer corners of the eyes, and a soft sweeping of color under the lower lashes. I lined the waterline with CoverGirl LiquilineBlast in Black Fire and smudged a bit into the top lash line as well as blended a little at the outer corners of the eyes. Two coats of CoverGirl NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara in Black top and bottom gave the final touch of glam.
For the lips, I lined the lips all over first with CoverGirl LipPerfection Lip Liner in Smoky, and then applied a light coat of CoverGirl LipPerfection lipcolor in Heavenly for a touch of shine."

Celebrity makeup artist Karan Mitchell shares how she created Selena Gomez's latest red-carpet look:

"For the MTV Movie Awards, Selena wanted her makeup look to be fresh and flawless. We went with a look that had a soft focus and pretty pink lips.

I started with Selena's eyes. I selected the COVERGIRL Shimmering Sands Eye Enhancer 3-Kits Shadows for her shadow. I used the medium shade of the palette as all over the eye area. I then used the lightest shade on the inside corners and as a highlight under her brow bone. I then lined her upper and lower lashline with COVERGIRL Perfect Blend Eyeliner in Basic Black. To line the upper lashes I used COVERGiRL LineExact Liquid liner in Very Black and drew a slight wing on the outer corners. I added a few individual lashes and used three coats of new COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Water Resistant Mousse Mascara in Black (available nationwide in July).

For her flawless skin, I used NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Oak. On her cheeks I applied COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry under the cheekbone and blended upward.

I then finished the look with COVERGIRL LipPerfection lipcolor in the soft shimmering pink shade Sweetheart and COVERGIRL ShineBlast Lip Gloss in Dazzle."

Get the Look: Taylor Swift's Striking Lip

Celebrity makeup artist Lorrie Turk shares how she achieved Taylor Swift's Billboard Music Awards beauty look:

"The pastel colors we used to frame Taylor's eyes were really a reflection of the gorgeous palette and beading of her Elie Saab gown.

I started her eyes by brushing on COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit in French Vanilla from her lash line to the crease and in the inner corners of her eyes. From the crease to just below the brow bone, I used Knock Out Pink, which really sets off Taylor's blue eyes. I then used a little COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast Eyeliner in Black Fire to line the upper lash line and finished the eyes with LashBlast Volume Mascara.

To perfect Taylor's already smooth complexion, I used COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation and a touch of Cheekers Blush in Plumberry Glow on her cheeks.

And, to finish, I applied COVERGIRL LipPerfection lipcolor in Tempt. It's a gorgeous vibrant pink--perfect for spring and summer."

Get the Look: Taylor Swift's Winged Eye

Celebrity makeup artist Lorrie Turk shares how she achieved Taylor Swift's dramatic lash line for the 46th annual Academy of Country Music Awards:

"The inspiration for the look was classic old Hollywood. She looked so beautiful in her dress with her natural look, we didn’t want to create anything too bold for her makeup, just complement the look nicely. Because Taylor’s performance at the show required a quick change, we had to create a look that would be able to transition from the red carpet to the performance and back again fairly easily.

I started with her foundation. I used COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation followed by COVERGIRL Classic Color Blush in Blush Rose on the apples of her cheeks for a fresh-faced glow.

To create her winged eye, I used COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast in Black Fire and then swept COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Tapestry Taupe from the lash line to the crease, followed by COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Champagne on the brow bone and in the inner corners of her eyes for a subtle sparkle. I finished the eye with COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion in Black for lots of full, long lashes.

On her lips, we wanted a nice rose color, so I applied COVERGIRL LipPerfection lipcolor in Soulmate. The look was overall timeless, but still fresh and young."

Get the Look: Hilary Swank's Oscars Hair & Makeup

Posted by babu 12:38pm GMT

Recreate Hilary Swank's ethereal beauty look from the 83rd annual Academy Awards with this step-by-step guide:

The Hair: Grace-ful Texture

Stylist Robert Vetica explains: “My inspiration was the romantic, elegant styles worn by Hollywood film icon Grace Kelly, though this is very modern, not retro in any way. Simple and sleek at the sides, most of the volume was at the back of the head, and I created a different kind of chignon that was asymmetrical made with three interwoven sections of hair. I wanted the hair to look smooth and luminous, as if there was no product in it, and used shine-enhancing styling products to finish. We accented the final look with Anna Hu platinum and diamond earrings that were worn in the hair.

To create this style, I first blow-dried Hilary’s hair with Moroccanoil Treatment. It’s a natural choice for this look as it's lightweight and conditioning, absorbs instantly into the hair without weighing it down and gives a deep, natural-looking shine. It would also protect the hair when I used a curling iron on it later. After curling small sections to give the hair a bit of wave and texture, I separated the hair from ear to ear below the crown and pulled it back. Next I backcombed this entire back section for volume and sprayed it for a soft, natural hold with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray. I lightly brushed through on the surface and put this section in a loose ponytail and secured it.

I then lightly teased the sides and backcombed the top section above the crown, with more attention to the root. I sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray on this area as well, and unified the two sections. I made a tight ponytail at the base of the crown. Then, because I had so much hair to work with, I took three sections, sprayed each one again and interwove them to create an asymmetrical chignon. I emphasized more volume and secured the chignon slightly to the left of center.

Finally, I pinned the platinum and diamond hair accessories asymmetrically, one on each side of the chignon. The first slightly above the ear, and the other slightly below the ear on the opposite side. To finish, I gave the entire style a light spray of Moroccanoil Glimmer ShineSpray."

The Makeup: Modern Pearl

Makeup artist Monika Blunder explains: “I wanted to really play up Hilary’s eyes and I used her gorgeous Gucci Premiere couture dress with beautiful shades of grey and satin as my color inspiration.

To create the soft but colorful eye look, I blended silvery colors across the eye and then opened up the eyes by using CoverGirl LiquilineBlast in Silver Spark close to the top and bottom lash line. I used the darker colors on the outside of the eye lid and then the lighter, silver colors in the inside, using CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke to bring out the silver shades of her dress. I then curled the lashes (ten second hold on each eye) and added stunning volume with CoverGirl LashBlast Volume in Very Black.

To complement Hilary’s eyes, I created a matte, flawless face and peachy cheeks for an overall soft look. I used a feathered blush brush to apply CoverGirl Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach in a circular motion to the apples of the cheeks. This creates a very soft, luminous look.

For the lips, I went with a very natural look, using CoverGirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Sandstone to add a pretty flush of luxurious color."

Get the Look: Katy Perry's Glittering Eye

Posted by babu 4:40pm GMT

Celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey shares how he achieved Katy Perry's latest red-carpet look:

"The inspiration for the beauty look was 'Disco Angel' — angelic, sparkly and ethereal. I wanted to play off the textures in her dress and wings.

For Katy’s multi-colored eye, I first applied the lavender shade of CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Silver Sky all along the top lid from lashline to crease and blended with my fingertips. Cream shadows are great adhesive for glitter, which was perfect for applying Makeup For Ever Glitter on the lid by tapping it with my finger. I then applied CoverGirl LiquiLineBlast in Green Glow along the lower water line and lower lashes and blended it with a small brush to smoke it out. I finished the eyes with two coats on top and bottom of CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion in Black.

I first prepped her skin with Nars Gentle Cream Cleanser and Aqua Gel Hydrator. I love the Aqua Gel because it doesn’t make her skin greasy but keeps it moisturized. Katy’s face was flawless, polished skin set with a shimmery pink blush and then I dusted glitter on her cheekbones to add to the sparkle.

On her lips, I created a rich pink look with CoverGirl LipPerfection lipcolor in Temptress for the red carpet and then changed it to a brighter berry pink/red for her performance using LipPerfection lipcolor in Tempt. "

Get the Look: Christina Hendricks' Dramatic Eye

Posted by babu 12:17pm GMT

WireImage

Recreate Christina Hendricks' striking SAG Awards beauty look with this step-by-step guide, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali:

"Christina was inspired by Brigitte Bardot's black, smoky eyes and nude face. So, we went in this direction but softened the look for the red carpet by using a creamy, shimmery shadow in gunmetal. This gives the eye shadow a transparent quality that makes the look very strong but also very modern.

I am always sparing with foundation but especially with Christina's nearly flawless skin. I used CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Alabaster, which was perfect for fresh, lightweight coverage. For a hint of color, I used CoverGirl Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach on the apples of the cheeks, looking polished and fresh.

For Christina’s timeless smoky eye, I used CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke on the lid from just above the crease down to the lash line. I swept out past the natural lash line at the outer corners of the eye to exaggerate the eye size and add a touch of red carpet drama. Also, to define the lash line, I used CoverGirl LiquiLine Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire. This pencil defines the eye by leaving intense color at the lash line but is very blendable for a soft look at the edges. Never leave home without lush and lengthy lashes, I used CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black to create just that.

Strong eyes look great paired with clean, uncomplicated skin. Keep it fresh by powdering in the T-zone only, using CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder, Sensitive Skin in Ivory. Finally, to complement the smoky eye, I wanted to use brown undertones, so I chose CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Kiss, perfect for red carpet glam!"
