Whether they serve to inspire or simply entertain, the theatrical beauty looks showcased on "Dancing with the Stars" are anything but average.

Below, DWTS artist Melanie Mills shares her inspirations, favorite looks and exactly how many gallons of tanning solution they go through each season:

Where do you draw your inspiration from each week?
I get my inspiration from first the wardrobe and the colours ... Music is next and what type of dance they are dancing... I also pull from current fashion...

Is there a contestant from the current season that you've enjoyed working with most?
This season had sooo many contestants. I really enjoyed working with Natalie Coughlin and wish DWTS could have showed her off a little more. She is so smart and interesting, I really enjoyed transforming her! I also loved doing Joanna Krupa she is so beautiful and so nice... Mya was also a dream to do... She is very sensitive to makeup so that was a challenge... I couldn't really use brushes! So all with my fingers... But she is so sweet and has such a great eye for that kind of makeup... I don't want to leave out Kelly [Osborne], she loves fun bright makeup and it was cool to be there and watch her transform as a person.

How much spray tan formula does your team go through each season?
We go through roughly 6 gallons of tanning solution.

What's your all-time favorite look that you've created for the show?
There are so many looks that have been so fun.. Toni Braxton as Marie Antoinette, Lil’ Kim as a Spanish diva, this season hands down was Joanna and Derek for their futuristic paso... We only had 10 minutes backstage to change them from their prior looks... I thought it was futuristic but still glamorous and "Dancing."

Are there any products you can't be without on set?
My favorite M.A.C product to use on the show is the Fix+ spray— but all Pigments, Glitters and Fluidliners are staples!
