Current Obsession: The Classics

Posted by babu 12:26pm GMT

Brand

In a market flooded with celebrity-inspired fragrances, the classics shine that much brighter.
5 timeless scents to rediscover:

Christian Dior Miss Dior
Launched by the house in 1947, this green floral blend boasts refreshing, woody and mossy notes, with hints of rose and gardenia to balance. (Price and availability vary, see Dior.com for details.)

Yves Saint Laurent Opium
The opulent, decadent character is immediately apparent from the mandarin and bergamot notes, deepened by myrrh, jasmine and carnation. Amber unlocks the final note. ($50-$175, YSLBeauteUS.com.)

CHANEL No. 5
It's estimated that a bottle of this iconic fragrance is sold every 55 seconds worldwide, making it one of the most recognizable (and adored) scents of all time. ($65-$1700, Chanel.com.)

Guerlain Shalimar
Inspired by the love of an Indian Emperor for his magnificent wife, Mumtaz-Mahal - for whom the Taj Mahal was built - Shalimar is named after "The Gardens of Shalimar," where their love grew. ($56-$70, Sephora.com.)

Lancôme Trésor
The elegance of rose, mugent and lilac and the sparkle of peach and apricot blossom are just a few notes that define this luminous fragrance. ($49-$89, Lancome-USA.com.)

Do You Fragrance Your Hair?

Posted by babu 6:09pm GMT

Photopunto/Splash News

Some women remain loyal to a brand of shampoos and conditioners simply because they've received compliments on the scent, whilst others are addicted to specially formulated fragrances like Tom Ford's Luminous Hair Perfume. Then there are those, like myself, who use scented body care products (Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile Shiny Body Oil is a favorite) to achieve a similar effect.

Do you fragrance your hair, or do you prefer to go "au naturel"?

Current Obsession: Jimmyjane Ember Candle

Brand

To know Jimmyjane is to love Jimmyjane. (Just ask the brand's lengthy list of devotees, which includes the likes of Kate Moss and Tom Ford.)

My latest obsession of theirs? The Ember Candle, which comes in a sleek, reusable porcelain casing and an array of indulgent fragrance blends, like Vetiver+Honey, Truffle+Gardenia and Lychee+Lapsang.

Once heated, its paraffin-free formula also doubles as a fantastic massage oil or body moisturizer, thanks to a nourishing base of jojoba, shea butter, vitamin E and aloe.

Jimmyjane Ember Massage Oil Candle, $35 (reg. $55). Available online at Jimmyjane.com.

Jennifer Aniston's "Lovalie"

Fotonoticias/WireImage

Jennifer Aniston has finally selected a name for her signature scent, though we're fairly certain she won't find a fan in SJP.

The star's premiere "nonperfume perfume" will be called Lovalie (not to be mistaken with Lovely), and is set to hit stores this summer.

What do you think of the name? Does it suit Jennifer?

Are You Feeling Beyonce's Heat?

With all the celebrity scents crowding the shelves these days, it's hard to believe that Beyoncé's first-ever fragrance just launched last night.

The songstress's signature scent is called Heat, and "opens with a radiant floral bouquet of magnolia, neroli and red vanilla orchid balanced with a kiss of luscious blush peach. At its heart, almond macaroon, sweet honeysuckle nectar and crème de musk combine to create an exquisitely sensual experience. Finally, warm and sexy notes of giant sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber linger to seduce the senses," according to Coty, who manufactures the fragrance.

And the inspiration behind the blend? "My fragrance is a unique expression of a woman's powerful sensuality, the scent thrills and enthralls, drawing you in. At the same time, it is elegant and feminine with an air of mystery. I created this fragrance for self-assured women everywhere, for women who are not afraid to desire and to be desired,” adds Beyoncé.
