NYFW Spring 2011: Vera Wang's Icy Eye

Inspired by "In the Mood for Love," Vera Wang asked Lucia Pieroni, lead makeup artist, to create a soft, romantic look that made a breathtaking impact for her Spring 2011 show. “The key to this ethereal look is the play on light and reflection and the striking radiance that results from both,” says Pieroni. “There is minimal color involved, but the overall metallic effect makes this look both wearable and highly fashionable at the same time."

A combination of the pink shadows in Clé de Peau Beauté's new Eye Color Quad (#207, launching March '11) were used to achieve this modern, icy eye. First, a subtle metallic pink was dusted across the eyelids. Then a more shimmery pink was applied to the brow bone and extended down to the cheek bone for added element of radiance. As for mascara? Not a swipe. “Metallics and sparkles are a big trend for Spring/Summer 2011, but it’s important to keep it tasteful and alluring!” exclaims Pieroni.

NYFW Spring 2011: Matching Brows & Nails at Marc Jacobs

We've seen nails color-matched to everything from lips and eyes to hair accessories, but the look at Marc Jacobs's Spring 2011 surprised even seasoned industry vets. "This is the first time I've seen nails and brows that matched," says CND's Jan Arnold, the brand's co-creator and lead manicurist backstage.

To match models tips to their eradicated brows, nails were coated with Perfectly Bare, a flesh-tone polish, then topped with a mattifying top coat for a "tinted moisturizer" effect.

What do you think of this budding beauty trend?

NYFW Spring 2011: Victoria Beckham Gets Kinky

Victoria Beckham's Spring 2011 presentation provides us with a fun twist on the basic tousled style we've been seeing so much of backstage at NYFW. Lead stylist, Didier Malige for Frédéric Fekkai, was inspired by hairstyles of the 60’s — without the tease.

To achieve this dented 'do, Malige first prepped dry hair with Fekkai Advanced Full Volume Styling Whip to give hair slick volume. He then created a middle part and tucked the hair straight behind the ears and spritzed with Fekkai Sheer Hold Spray to make the hair more straight and heavy. Malige finished the look by using a waiving tool to make an unexpected single crimp across the back of the hair.
