Say Goodbye to Split Ends!

Posted by babu 2:50pm GMT

We loathe them. We pick at them. But what exactly are "split ends" and how can we rid of them for good?

Known as trichoptilosis in the scientific community, these annoying little branches occur at the ends of our hair when the protective cuticle layer is damaged. Harsh winter weather or prolonged sun exposure are just a couple of causes, but most everyday activities can also separate strands. No need to panic, though; a few simple tweaks to your daily haircare routine can dramatically transform dry, brittle tips into the lustrous locks we all lust after.

Check out the slideshow above for ways to prevent, heal and hide unruly ends.

In Stores Now: Fekkai Au Naturel

Posted by babu 3:15pm GMT

Source: Brand

Very exciting news! Fekkai's celebrity (and stylist) adored hair care collection has just joined the green movement. So now we can finally have our cake and eat it too...

Luxurious and purely gorgeous, Fekkai Au Naturel brings natural movement and body to the hair with a plant-based collection that is free of sulfates, parabens, dyes and synthetic fragrances. The best part? These products actually work as well as their chemical counterparts.

The collection:

Au Naturel Gentle Shampoo
Utilizes naturally derived cleansers that are sourced with sugar and palm to gently cleanse the hair. Peppermint leaf stimulates the hair follicles while calendula petals strengthen and nourish. Ideal for normal to fine hair, Purifying Shampoo leaves the hair ultra clean. $23.

Au Naturel Weightless Conditioner
A weightless, plant-based conditioner which utilizes naturally derived herbal extracts to detangle and smooth hair. Unique ingredients chapparrel leaf and linden blossom soothe and stimulate the scalp tissue while softening and conditioning the hair. Ideal for normal to fine hair. $23.

Au Naturel Sheer Styling Gel
A sheer styling gelee that utilizes naturally derived amino acids and proteins to provide shape. Contains horsetail grass, a mineral rich ingredient which adds strength and sheen while Peruvian bark, offers a nutritive hair treatment with remineralizing proteins. Ideal for all hair types, this unique hair gel conditions the hair while providing hold. $23.

A few of my favorite features:

- The scent is nothing like many of the natural haircare lines I've tried. Au Naturel products are composed of a refreshing blend of citrus, lavender and vanilla notes.

- Orange fruit extract, Vitamin C and B Complex, Bioflavonoids, Potassium, Zinc, Phosphorous and natural sugars nourish the hair and scalp.

- All three products are packaged in bottles and tubes made of 40% recycled materials.

- My hair feels light, bouncy and full of shine after every use. (Including the first!)
