Free Fashion Week Ride: Lancôme Mobile Taxi Shops

Posted by kgranero 4:29pm GMT

Brand

When's the last time you paid too much for a taxi?

For me, it was just two days ago and it was $15, which is a bargain compared to some of the tabs I've racked up in my day, which is why I was so excited to learn that Lancome has recently teamed up with Glamour to offer free (yes, FREE) taxi rides during New York Fashion Week.

Starting today (and running thru Feb. 13), a fleet of Lancôme-sponsored Mobile Taxi Shops will offer complimentary rides anywhere in Manhattan.

All you have to do is hail a branded taxi (see picture above), or stop by a Glamour taxi stand at 3 locations: Lincoln Center, The Standard Hotel and Condé Nast (Lancôme Mobile Taxi Shops will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Once inside, you can catch a two-minute video demonstrating one of two Lancôme looks: The Bold Lip or Easy Eyes, both starring Lancôme makeup artist Tarek Abbas, as well as shop with your phone by following these three steps:

1. Download the Glamour Friends & Fans app at The App Store or Android Market.

2. To purchase a product or look, hover your phone over the SnapTag in the taxi.

3. Check out via the app and you’re done!

Basically, you'll at least have a little something (pretty) to show for your cab ride - and that's assuming you make a purchase, which you're not obligated to do.

Current Obsession: Lancôme's Golden Hat Holiday Collection

Posted by melissa k. 4:05pm GMT

Lancôme

What do we love more than adorably packaged cosmetics? Adorably packaged cosmetics that support a good cause.

Lancôme has partnered with Kate Winslet (the current face of the brand) to support the Golden Hat Foundation, a non-profit organization created by Winslet to raise money in order to improve the lives of children living with autism.

The cosmetics company has created a limited edition make-up collection featuring:

FACE
Poudre Lumière in Golden Hat, $40
An interpretation of the Golden Hat symbol, this all-over powder softly illuminates the face. A sheer sparkling pink shimmer adds delicate glow, while a golden hue brightens skin with a touch of light.

LIPS
L’Absolu Rouge Lipcolor, $29
The classic, moisture-rich lipstick is blended with vitamin E and SPF 12, for plush color that wears like satin.
Shades: Caprice, Rosette, Misty Rose, Spice Pink, La Base (primer base)

NAILS
Mini Le Vernis, $15
Five new shades are added to the Le Vernis collection, in pops of pink and red that perfectly complement the magnetic lipcolors.
Shades: Shade 102, Shade 26, Shade 27, Shade 28, Shade 003

Lancôme promises to donate at least 150,000 euros of its sales profits to the Golden Hat Foundation.

Get the Look: Mila Kunis' Striking Style

Recreate Mila Kunis' latest red-carpet look with these expert tips & tricks:

The Hair: Soft Texture

Stylist Mara Roszak's step-by-step guide to achieving Mila's magnificent updo:

Step 1: Apply TRESemmé Naturals Mousse to wet hair and rough dry, parting the hair to one side.
Step 2: With a 1” barrel curling iron, wave hair away from the face in sections.
Step 3: Brush out the curled sections with fingertips and form an “S” wave around the face.
Step 4: Pull hair softly into a messy chignon and spray it all over with TRESemmé Naturals Finishing Spray for a soft holding finish.

The Makeup: Sultry & Sexy

Makeup artist Tracey Levy explains: "I took inspiration directly from Mila's bold yet feminine lilac gown, resulting in a look that's both sultry and beautifully defined.

As a base, I applied Lancôme Teint Miracle Lit-from-Within Foundation and Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose. Next, I enhanced Mila's eyes using Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Coral Crush, Color Design Eye Shadow in Impress, Le Crayon Khôl EyeLiner in Black and Hypnôse Waterproof Custom Volume Mascara in Black. And on the lips, I layered Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Blazing Pink over La Laque Fever Lipshine in Lucent Nude."

Celebrity makeup artist Tracey Levy reveals the products used to create Mila Kunis' latest red-carpet beauty look:

"Dramatic yet effortless — that was the look I envisioned when making up Mila Kunis at the SAG Awards. Smoky eyes were the focal point, with glossy lips.

Lancôme Teint Miracle Lit-from-Within Makeup and Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose worked to even tone and illuminate.

I then used Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Midnight Rush, Color Design Eye Shadow in Volcano, Le Crayon Khôl EyeLiner in Black and Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black, to amplify Mila's hazel eyes.

To complete the look, I layerd Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Rich Cashmere and La Laque Fever Lipshine in Hotness."

Get the Look: Amy Adams' Golden Globes Hair & Makeup

Posted by babu 3:15pm GMT

 WireImage

Recreate Amy Adams' stunning, retro-inspired look from the 68th annual Golden Globes with these expert tips & tricks:

The Hair: Soft, Prohibition-Era Updo

Stylist Laini Reeves explains: "I wanted to create a soft 20’s mood, but in a different, modern way. We started by changing the texture of her hair before we went on to loosely braid and roll the chignon. Amy has a beautiful, full and thick head of hair and a nice, natural wave.

I first applied Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream while it was drying, from root to end to give soft hold while further smoothing the texture and adding definition and shine. I rough-dried the hair with my hands to get the water out and created a bit of a messed up texture with a slight touch of wave for a more modern, freer look. The hair was air dried except at the roots, where I used a blow dryer.

Next, I used a 1” curling iron to make curls in different parts of the hair that needed to be filled in and then smoothed and blended them in. I made a side-part and prepared some pieces from the front of the hair to frame her face, pinning them in an “S”-shape and away from the rest of the hair.

I then gathered and pulled back the rest of Amy's hair, made a loose braid that I doubled up, rolled upwards and pinned at the nape, with the cross texture side of the braid showing. Only five thick bobby pins were used to secure the style in place. Finally, I released the “S”-shaped sections in the front and pinned them behind the ear to open her face up and to show off her cheek bones. I then sprayed the look with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to keep everything in place with movable shine, without looking like it was sprayed."

The Makeup: "Naturally Defined"

Makeup artist Molly Stern explains: "I was instantly inspired by the 'painterly feel' of Amy's teal Marchesa gown, so I created a look that was strong and defined, yet allowed her natural beauty to shine through. To achieve the look, I first applied YSL Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation and Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in #2 to enhance her complexion.

Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Taupe Craze (launching February), Le Stylo Waterproof EyeLiner in Minuit and Hypnôse Custom Volume Mascara in Black were then used to amplify Amy's eyes. And lastly, I layered Lancôme Color Design Matte Lipcolor in Stylista and L’Absolu Nu in Evening Lace (launching March), on the lips."
