Get the Look: Sofia Vergara's '70s-Inspired Waves

Posted by babu 3:59pm GMT

Recreate Sofia Vergara's sexy, retro-inspired style with this step-by-step guide, courtesy of celebrity stylist Jen Atkin:

“I wanted to give Sofia a glam, beachy wave for 'The Smurfs' premiere. First, I prepped her hair with Fekkai Volumizing Mousse as well as Fekkai Beach Wave Spray at the roots. I then blew-out her hair with a 1" round brush, and set the top center section with Velcro rollers. Next, I used a 2" T3 Curling Iron to set curls going back and away from her face.

Once set, I sprayed Fekkai Sheer Hold Spray and used my fingers to break up the curls. We took the top center section out of the rollers and used dry shampoo at the roots to keep the volume locked in. Finally, I curled her bangs back with a Chi Flat Iron to finish.”

Lackluster Locks?

Posted by babu 12:14pm GMT

Splash News

Achieve high shine in no time with these tried and true tricks of the trade:

Lather Less
Skip shampoos, and just rinse and condition instead. This will help regulate your scalp's oil production, and prevent follicle dehydration.

Think Ahead
Weekly pre/post cleansing treatments aren't just for when your hair looks or feels dry. To maintain a lustrous, healthy-looking finish, make sure to nourish your tresses on a regular basis. Experiment with different formulations and frequencies to find what works best for you (for example: a lightweight, shine-enhancing masque 3x/month; overnight treatment oil 1x/month.)

Guard Against Damage
Thermal protectants — like John Frieda's celeb-adored Full Repair Perfect Ends — are a great way to shield against damage caused by heat styling. A few drops of SPF mixed into your daily conditioner can help keep your color looking rich and vibrant, as well.

Laminate Your Locks
Not all shine products are created equal. To ensure your hair looks luminous and not weighted down or oily, opt for spray formulas with a fine mist, which work on both wet and dry hair (Serge Normant Meta Sheer Dry Oil Finishing Spray is a favorite).

Oil Dip
If you've not yet discovered the benefits of hair oils, like Rodine by Recine, you've been missing out! Whatever your texture, a touch of oil at the ends smooths, defines and adds ample shine.
