Expert Q&A: Warren-Tricomi

Responsible for the ever-evolving styles of stars like Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Alba and Lauren Conrad, master stylists Joel Warren and Edward Tricomi have made it their mission to make runway trends wearable on the red-carpet — and in real-life.

Below, the duo dishes on how to save money on salon services, the season's top trends, and more.

Of all the red-carpet looks you've created, which are your most memorable? Why?

JW: When I created Scarlett Johansson’s hair color for the 2010 Tony awards because she won that year for “A View from the Bridge."

ET: My most memorable was Paris Hilton, when I created the finger wave look on her and finished it off with a diamond encrusted headband.

Which of fall's style and color trends do you find most flattering for everyday wear?

JW: Sexy, wavy hair.

ET: I don’t find one particular style most flattering, I have a few that I prefer: hair blown straight/clean, hair that’s in soft waves, hair pulled back, knotted into a bun or chignon tightly. As for color, I also find more than one shade most flattering for fall: bright blonde, red head, dark and chocolate brown.

What key ingredients should we seek in hair care products to help "winterize" our tresses?

JW: Aloe vera.

ET: Any hair care products that have a moisturizing base will work (such as finishing cream) and hairspray.

If a client can only splurge on cut or color, which do you recommend? Why?

JW: You should always splurge on color because you can always hide a bad cut. It’s easier to hide bad cuts by putting the hair up rather than to hide bad roots or grey hairs.

ET: If roots are showing then color is a MUST. If no roots, then haircut.

Now that we've covered the basics, it's time for our "lightning round" of questions:

Favorite styling tool?

JW: A flatiron
ET: Scissors

Funniest client?

JW: Mrs. Schwartz
ET: Bunny Cuppleman. She is like the real life version of bugs bunny – quirky and smart but funny.

Person you’d most like to meet, past or present?

JW: Audrey Hepburn
ET:John Lennon

Editorial, runway or red-carpet?

JW & ET: Editorial

Most beloved intensive treatment?

JW: The new Absolute Frizz Control by Warren Tricomi (launching soon)
ET: Kerastase's Oleo-Relax Nuit - Nutri Disciplining Night Treatment For Dry Rebellious Hair

First thought when you spotted the girls from "Jerseylicious" in your NYC salon?

JW: “I’m at the mall”
ET: Please cut your nails!

Most trusted stylists?

JW: Edward Tricomi
ET: Joel Warren and all of the stylists at our salon

Guilty pleasure?
JW: A massages at Caudalie Spa
ET: Let’s leave this to your imagination...

What's Your Beauty Signature?

Posted by babu 4:11pm GMT

Michael Tran/FilmMagic

Dita Von Teese wouldn't be caught dead without her ruby red kisser, while Lauren Conrad buys liquid liner in bulk. For others, like Gwen Stefani and Gisele, their much-envied look comes courtesy of a top colorist. And then there are those whose trademark is of the more natural variety— Sarah Jessica Parker's curly coif, Cindy Crawford's iconic mole. They're "imperfections" are, well, perfect.

Much like with fragrance, many feel that a beauty signature is essential to one's look.

So, go on... What's yours?
