You bought the dress, borrowed the bag and bargained for the shoes. But what about your holiday hairstyle? Seems a shame to put all that effort into your ensemble and then make your mane an afterthought.

Take a cue from these style savvy celebs and work a hairstyle that’s big on drama but short on work.

Gwen Stefani can pretty much rock any look (no matter how off-the-wall) and still look gorgeous. And she’s had some doozies.

But this topknot – eh. The singer-turned-designer sported it on two separate occasions this weekend, one time a bit messier than the other.

It doesn’t read “I’m too lazy to wash my hair” the way it would if, say, I sported it. But it doesn’t do much for her.

Let’s play a game. It’s called “What Is Sarah Jessica Parker Hiding in Her Hair?”

The actress was at a horse-racing event in Australia where it is apparently customary to sport some serious headgear. And coupled with her major millinary was a curiously humungous updo.

A brilliant twist on a classic look. To achieve a similar texture, tease the bottom half of your hair, set with hairspray, then sweep to the side and braid as usual. Finish by wrapping a small piece of hair around a transparent hair elastic.

High ponytails are back, and oh-so-easy to style. Just be sure to conceal your hair tie for a polished finish.

A perfect solution for unruly, greasy or damaged tresses. The key? A touch of shine serum/spray, all-over, to smooth and prevent flyaways.
