Courtney Love's Embellished Crown: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by babu 4:34pm GMT

Source: Splash News

Courtney Love has become known for her questionable taste in fashion (and more recently, men), but this crazy crown takes "bejeweled tresses" to an entirely new level.

Seen here on her way to a London nightclub, the former rock star looks like she could use a deep conditioning treatment, lowlights, and a hair accessory that doesn't bring to mind a 10-year-old's birthday party...

What do you think of Courtney's latest look, love it or hate it?

Big Happie Hair's "Bumpits": Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 2:11pm GMT

I'm out sick today so, naturally, I made a point of indulging in the one guilty pleasure that comes with staying home on a weekday — daytime TV. Just as I was flipping though the blur of court cases and love triangles, I happened to land on a Rachael Ray beauty segment featuring — you guessed it — Bumpits. The name alone made me want to drop the remote and attempt to focus through my medicated haze.

What are Bumpits exactly? According to the brand, they're "volumizing plastic hair inserts [that] take your hair from flat to fabulous in seconds without the use of heavy creams or gels. [You can] simply place the piece underneath hair at the crown of your head to instantly transform your look."

Now I'm all for a lift, but these plastic pieces seem to better fit the age of Marie Antoinette or The Ronettes than the modern day. Hair should have movement, which is why I tend to prefer extensions, fillers (made of natural/synthetic hair) and styling products to these sorts of rigid inserts. But then again, I haven't tried a Bumpit, so perhaps I'm terribly mistaken ...

What do you think, are these hair-raising accessories a trend or foe?

49 New Hair Ideas for 2009

Posted by babu 4:34pm GMT

Need a new look for the new year? Whether you're stuck in a rut or simply love to switch things up, be sure check out Allure Magazine's 49 Hair Ideas for 2009. It's a slideshow full of tricks/tips on how to get major results with minimal commitment.

A few of my personal favorites:

Secure a Ponytail with a Barrette
It gives a looser result than an elastic. To create this style, spritz dry roots with volumizer and massage through with your fingers for a bit of lift, then wrap the ends of the hair around a curling iron. Clip hair back loosely just below the nape of your neck in a tortoiseshell barrette.

Switch Sides
Add instant volume at the end of the day simply by changing your part. Flipping it to the opposite side not only gives you more lift at the roots, but it also helps you achieve a different look—without a trip to the hair salon.

Shine On
The right brush can make hair look glossier by simply spreading out your hair's natural oils. Choose a paddle brush if you want smooth, straight hair, or a round one for hair that's fluffy and full—and always go with all boar or boar plus synthetic bristles for maximum shine.

Anne Hathaway's Latest Look: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by babu 5:45pm GMT

Anne Hathaway chose to stray from her signature look for the premiere of her new film "Bride Wars," opting instead for a suit and mod-inspired hairstyle.

I love that Anne is constantly experimenting with new looks, but with hits there are bound to come misses. And in this case, I think the teased crown and use of extensions evoke the image of an "Austin Powers" heroine as opposed to a leading lady.

What do you think of Anne's high top, love it or hate it?

Whitney Port's Headdress: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by babu 3:19pm GMT

Source: Soul Brother/FilmMagic

Whitney Port rocked a rather questionable headdress at the Season Finale of The Hills in NYC recently, especially given the time of year.

Perhaps she (or her stylist?) should have taken Coco Chanel's advice and removed that last over-the-top item before stepping in front of the cameras...

What do you think of Whitney's latest look, love it or hate it?
