If there were an award for abusing trends, Paris Hilton would win by a landslide.

Unlike her former frenemy, the heiress hasn't quite mastered the art of enhancing an outfit with hair accessories. Instead, Paris' over-the-top headbands and awkward extensions always seem to overpower her look. But then again, given her equally questionable taste in clothing, perhaps that's not such a bad thing after all...

Carrie Underwood's appearance on "American Idol" last night was... Showstopping, to say the least.

Her stiff, overly-styled coiff and black floral headpiece left many of us wondering who would do such a thing to the sweet songstress. Perhaps Carrie's hair fell victim to budget cuts behind-the-scenes...? Whatever the reason, let's hope the stylist behind this look has since come to realize the golden rule of less is more.

I know we're in a time of economic hardship, but really... This is a multi-use innovation I could live without. It's neither beautiful nor discreet (with the latter being key to saving/hiding a bad hair day!).
