Is it just me, or was Friday's "Early Show" segment on the "metro" movement [in men's grooming] a bit behind the times?

It's been over a decade since male-oriented products and spa services hit the market and, in my opinion, we're actually heading back to a more natural-looking ideal for both sexes.

NYC's finest (...and I) were out last night in honor of M.A.C Cosmetics' fall '09 color collection, which features artistic collaborations with photographer Marilyn Minter, illustrator Maira Kalman and painter Richard Phillips.

Loads of lust-worthy looks were showcased throughout the evening, with celebrity stylist Ric Pipino on hand to ensure there wasn't a bad 'do in the bunch.

Favorites include: the casually cool coifs of Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick (of "Gossip Girl" fame), designer Erin Fetherston's luminous locks, "Twilight" star Ashley Greene's sleek bob, and musician Justin Tranter's edgy, bleach blonde 'do.

"Borat was so 2008." Sacha Baron Cohen's latest comic creation comes in the form of an eccentric Austrian fashion reporter named "Br�no"— a well-groomed character that's proven to be a bit of a challenge to embody.

But even the burn of bleach won't keep "Br�no" from seeking the spotlight. He's currently touring the globe, causing controversy and inspiring millions with an array of fabulous funny 'dos.

Maybe it's my laid-back, West Coast background, but I love a bit of scruff on a man's face. I find it terribly attractive when paired with jeans and a tee, and even more so with a suit.
