Spring's Hottest Hair Accessories

Posted by babu 11:29am GMT

Dress your tresses in one (or all!) of the season's hottest trends:

Embellished Accents
Pearls, veils, and a subtle sparkle can add a touch of old Hollywood glamor to any look.

The New Fedora
Androgynous and easy-to-wear, the Trilby hat is one of the season's must-have accessories.

Colorful Jewels
A bejewelled headband or hair clip can take your look from day to night.

Neon Brights
An electric hair accessory, like a bobby pin, is a fun way to wear this 80s-inspired trend without looking dated.

Full Bloom
Big, bold flowers are the perfect compliment to a pixie cut, or a sleek updo.

Ethnic-Inspired
Boho looks are back this season, with tribal accents and ethnic prints taking center stage.

Rocker Chic
Chains, zippers, and metallic accents are a fun way to add an unexpected edge to any ensemble.

Bow-Tied
This classic school girl accessory is updated in patent, silk, and leather finishes for spring.

Full & Fabulous
Wide, woven hats are back for their moment in the sun.

Which trends/accessories will you be sporting this season?

Davines Glorifying Anti Age/Shimmering Pak

I can't get enough of this new anti-aging treatment mask from Davines. It's fantastic.

Formulated with wheat proteins (for volume and color protection) and omega-6 fatty acids (which contribute to strong, shiny strands), this pigment-free formula helps to invigorate and prolong color, guard against damage caused by heat-styling and the elements, and add a healthy-looking sheen that lasts for weeks.

Highly recommended.

Davines Glorifying Anti Age/Shimmering Pak, $35. See Davines.com for additional details and retailers.

Whether you're braving the cold or off on a mid-winter holiday, Kiehl's Climate-Proof Shine-Enhancing Non-Aerosol Spray will keep your locks looking fabulous— come rain or shine.

Complete with a blend of natural conditioning extracts, this lightweight finishing spray provides control sans stiffness (for all hair types) and guards your style against humidity, too.

Use Kiehl's Climate-Proof Shine-Enhancing Non-Aerosol Spray to define curls and waves, for added texture and hold when flat-ironing your hair, and/or to boost shine as needed.

Quick tip: Remember to use a quick pumping action, as with any non-aerosol, to prevent “spitting.”

Say Goodbye to Split Ends!

Posted by babu 2:50pm GMT

We loathe them. We pick at them. But what exactly are "split ends" and how can we rid of them for good?

Known as trichoptilosis in the scientific community, these annoying little branches occur at the ends of our hair when the protective cuticle layer is damaged. Harsh winter weather or prolonged sun exposure are just a couple of causes, but most everyday activities can also separate strands. No need to panic, though; a few simple tweaks to your daily haircare routine can dramatically transform dry, brittle tips into the lustrous locks we all lust after.

Check out the slideshow above for ways to prevent, heal and hide unruly ends.

Current Obsession: L'Occitane Aromachologie Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner

Posted by babu 7:14pm GMT

Though the weather calls for more rich, moisturizing formulations, I always miss the volume that comes so naturally during the summer months. I curse humidity when it's present, and long for it through the winter... Go figure.

To keep my locks from looking limp, I've been alternating my seasonal formulations with this wonderful Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner from L'Occitane. Made with a natural complex of five essential oils, each product lifts the hair from root to tip, imparts a healthy-looking shine, and also works to rebalance the scalp and improve cutaneous micro-circulation.

If you're worried about drying out, try using the Aromachologie Volumizing Shampoo with a deep conditioner (applied only to the lower 1/4 of your hair). It's my go-to recipe when I'm not quite ready to return to a creamier cleanser.

L'Occitane Aromachologie Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, $17 each. Available at usa.loccitane.com.

Current Obsession: Fresh Meadowfoam Cream Conditioner

Posted by babu 7:06pm GMT

To say that I'm a fan of Fresh would be quite the understatement. I've been a longtime devotee of their luxurious formulations, elegant packaging and scrumptious scent combinations... Lev Glazman & Alina Roytberg can do no wrong in my books.

My latest obsession is the Fresh Meadowfoam Cream Treatment Conditioner. This ultra-rich treatment restores radiance, hydrates, and tames disobedient (a.k.a. frizzy, overprocessed) tresses like no other. All without having to compromise volume and movement.

Highly recommended.

Fresh Meadowfoam Cream Treatment Conditioner, $32. Available at Fresh.com.

Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Glistening Drops

Posted by babu 6:57pm GMT

With so much excitement surrounding tomorrow's election, it seems silly to go on about my current hair care obsession — so I'll try to keep it short. ;)

I was first introduced to this concentrated Garnier Fructis glossing serum some time ago by a celebrity stylist who swore by it, but it actually took a girlfriend's glowing locks (and recommendation) for me to seek out their little green bottle for myself ...

Brilliantine Shine imparts a healthy sheen, tames frizz and also smooths flyaways — all without weighing your hair down. And, as if that's not enough, the uplifting citrus scent is highly addictive.

Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Glistening Drops, $3.79. Available at Ulta.com.
