Jennifer Lopez: Which Look Works Best?

Judging by these paparazzi pics, Jennifer Lopez will be modeling a number of different 'dos in her new film, "The Back-Up Plan."

Personally, I think J.Lo's bangs are quite flattering, especially when paired with tousled waves (bottom, right). My only issue is with the straight style, which could use a serious coat of shine serum. Dry, frizzy ends aren't flattering on anyone.

Which of Jennifer's latest looks do you like most?

Jennifer Lopez debuted her new, full and fabulous fringe last night at a Topshop event in NYC.

I'm loving this look for J.Lo, it's anti-aging and fun for spring.

Jennifer Lopez's Intricate Updo: Love It or Hate It?

With the inauguration of our next president just hours away, stars have been flocking to DC to show their support (and get snapped doing so).

The latest star to walk the red carpet is none other than Jennifer Lopez. Seen here at the Latino inaugural gala,"Celebrando El Cambio," it's clear that J.Lo prefers to stick to the over-the-top style that made her famous.

I'm sure some will find this braided chignon to be the epitome of elegance, but I think it's overdone and sits too high on her head. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for volume, but tend to draw the line when one's extensions resemble a hat more than hair.

What do you think of Jennifer's inflated updo, love it or hate it?

From her super short days as a Fly Girl to her current role as a mom, Jennifer Lopez has had almost every look and hair color imaginable... Too many to fit in one of my montages!

In her 18 yr. career as a dancer/actor/musician/mogul, Jenny 'from the Block' has reinvented herself time and time again with every persona she's taken on. Let's see, there was that brief stint as P.Diddy's bandana-wearing companion, her pin-up preoccupation, and who can forget the Oscars 'do that was rumored to take multiple cans of hairspray to achieve? If anyone can pull-of these larger-than-life looks though, it's Jennifer Lopez. The woman is a force to be reckoned with...

I personally love when she'd rock the chic chignons, and also adore the sculpted waves that she's been wearing recently. But what are your favorite looks of J.Lo's Hairvolution?

Victoria Beckham's Pixie Cut: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by babu 12:52am GMT

Fashion Week never fails to surprise, but this year is promising to be extraordinarily eventful. None other than Posh Spice was spotted at Marc Jacobs' Spring '09 show on Monday night with a fierce new look.

She's
known to be adventurous with her hair, but this cut leaves no room for
adjustment. Mrs. Beckham gambled big, and I think it paid off. And, of
course, she still manages to look diva-esque, despite her cropped cut.

My only critique would be that she looks even skinnier (if that's possible) with this hairstyle. But that's nothing a few trips to In-N-Out can't fix.

What do you think of Victoria Beckham's dramatic new do, love it or hate it?

UPDATE: It appears that the man behind this look was renowned celebrity stylist Garren, who also styled Audrey Hepburn and gave Linda Evangelista her signature boy-cut... Leave it to Queen B to choose only the best.

Put Your Best Face Forward

Posted by babu 12:39pm GMT

Whether you're a fan of the local SuperCuts or a client of an A-List superstylist, the success of a haircut can be measured by how well it suits your face. Not minding this simple fact can result in all sorts of wig-worthy mishaps.

To ensure you've got the cut best suited to your face shape (Or will, after reading this!), I've enlisted the help of a few choice celebrity stylists to guide us.

A Round Face

If your face shape resembles that of Cameron Diaz, Oprah Winfrey, or Catherine Zeta-Jones, Seiji Kitazato suggests:

Do:

  • Favor longer hair to minimize the roundness of your face.
  • Go for short cut only if you keep the back longer than the front, with a little height on top.

Don't:

  • Opt for short cuts if your hair is curly, as this will only emphasize the roundness of your face.
  • Get heavy bangs, as they tend to add weight to the face. Try side swept bangs instead.

An Oval Face

If you have a similar shape to Beyoncé Knowles, Terri Hatcher, or Jessica Alba, Mario Russo recommends:

Do:

  • Wear layers the length of your best features (Eyes, cheekbones, lips) to highlight these areas and make them standout.
  • Add volume to the top of the head.

Don't:

  • Wear short layers or spikes that add height to your face, without having fullness on the sides, as your head will appear too long.
  • Opt for a blunt cut if you have thick and/or curly hair, as it can look pyramid-like.

A Heart-Shaped Face

If your face shape is like that of Reese Witherspoon, Sophie Dahl, or Jennifer Lopez, Rodney Cutler recommends:

Do:

  • Opt for Long, loose, layered cuts with longer bangs.
  • Be sure to get soft layers, and keep the base longer than the jaw, if you try a bob.

Don't:

  • Taper the hair at the nape of the neck, as it will accentuate your chin.
  • Get short, round bangs as they're are not flattering to your face shape.

A Square-Shaped Face

If the shape of your face is similar to Demi Moore, Angelina Jolie, or Rosario Dawson, Rolando Beauchamp suggests:

Do:

  • Elongate the look of the face by maintaining a length that is past the shoulders. Light layers that start below the chin create movement and ensure that long hair doesn't become too bottom-heavy.
  • Try a sexy, long side-swept bang that keeps a hairstyle interesting without shortening the face.

Don't:

  • Go for a chin-length bobs, which will draw the eye outward, accentuating the square look and widening the face.
  • Add weight to the hairstyle with thick, straight bangs — they'll make the face look heavier as a whole. This look also shortens the face, accentuating a square chin.
