Get the Look: Christina Hendricks' Dramatic Eye

Posted by babu 12:17pm GMT

Recreate Christina Hendricks' striking SAG Awards beauty look with this step-by-step guide, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali:

"Christina was inspired by Brigitte Bardot's black, smoky eyes and nude face. So, we went in this direction but softened the look for the red carpet by using a creamy, shimmery shadow in gunmetal. This gives the eye shadow a transparent quality that makes the look very strong but also very modern.

I am always sparing with foundation but especially with Christina's nearly flawless skin. I used CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Alabaster, which was perfect for fresh, lightweight coverage. For a hint of color, I used CoverGirl Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach on the apples of the cheeks, looking polished and fresh.

For Christina’s timeless smoky eye, I used CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke on the lid from just above the crease down to the lash line. I swept out past the natural lash line at the outer corners of the eye to exaggerate the eye size and add a touch of red carpet drama. Also, to define the lash line, I used CoverGirl LiquiLine Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire. This pencil defines the eye by leaving intense color at the lash line but is very blendable for a soft look at the edges. Never leave home without lush and lengthy lashes, I used CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black to create just that.

Strong eyes look great paired with clean, uncomplicated skin. Keep it fresh by powdering in the T-zone only, using CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder, Sensitive Skin in Ivory. Finally, to complement the smoky eye, I wanted to use brown undertones, so I chose CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Kiss, perfect for red carpet glam!"

Get the Look: Amy Adams' Golden Globes Hair & Makeup

Posted by babu 3:15pm GMT

Recreate Amy Adams' stunning, retro-inspired look from the 68th annual Golden Globes with these expert tips & tricks:

The Hair: Soft, Prohibition-Era Updo

Stylist Laini Reeves explains: "I wanted to create a soft 20’s mood, but in a different, modern way. We started by changing the texture of her hair before we went on to loosely braid and roll the chignon. Amy has a beautiful, full and thick head of hair and a nice, natural wave.

I first applied Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream while it was drying, from root to end to give soft hold while further smoothing the texture and adding definition and shine. I rough-dried the hair with my hands to get the water out and created a bit of a messed up texture with a slight touch of wave for a more modern, freer look. The hair was air dried except at the roots, where I used a blow dryer.

Next, I used a 1” curling iron to make curls in different parts of the hair that needed to be filled in and then smoothed and blended them in. I made a side-part and prepared some pieces from the front of the hair to frame her face, pinning them in an “S”-shape and away from the rest of the hair.

I then gathered and pulled back the rest of Amy's hair, made a loose braid that I doubled up, rolled upwards and pinned at the nape, with the cross texture side of the braid showing. Only five thick bobby pins were used to secure the style in place. Finally, I released the “S”-shaped sections in the front and pinned them behind the ear to open her face up and to show off her cheek bones. I then sprayed the look with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to keep everything in place with movable shine, without looking like it was sprayed."

The Makeup: "Naturally Defined"

Makeup artist Molly Stern explains: "I was instantly inspired by the 'painterly feel' of Amy's teal Marchesa gown, so I created a look that was strong and defined, yet allowed her natural beauty to shine through. To achieve the look, I first applied YSL Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation and Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in #2 to enhance her complexion.

Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Taupe Craze (launching February), Le Stylo Waterproof EyeLiner in Minuit and Hypnôse Custom Volume Mascara in Black were then used to amplify Amy's eyes. And lastly, I layered Lancôme Color Design Matte Lipcolor in Stylista and L’Absolu Nu in Evening Lace (launching March), on the lips."

"I’ve tried a lot of things but apart from working out and a good diet most things don’t help... I even tried Botox but
I didn’t like how my face looked afterwards. Now I don’t use it anymore - and I can move my forehead again."

Check out the shot of Nicole, above, from December. Do you think she's now 100% natural?
