Josie Maran's Hair Care Secrets

Posted by babu 2:03pm GMT

Todd Williamson/WireImage

I've always admired Josie Maran's beachy, sunkissed look so, naturally, I did what any tress-obsessed writer would do— I called her publicist.

The secrets to this model/mum/entrepreneur's style:

Color: Lemon Drops
Josie brightens her highlights in the summer with natural lemon juice. (Lemon juice makes hair photosensitive, which causes the sun to lighten it.)

Care: Argan Oil
Argan Oil, which is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, is what Josie uses daily (on the ends) to smooth split ends and protect her tresses. And, to lengthen the life of a haircut, she also uses it as a weekly hair treatment. "I warm up Argan Oil and apply to the scalp, then let it soak for a few minutes before rinsing. It locks in moisture, and adds shine.”

Style: Air-Blown
When Josie's not working, she lets her hair air dry to create natural volume and texture. Free and eco-friendly, this styling method also helps to avoid damage caused by thermal tools.

From her first role in "E.T" to the recent premiere of "Grey Gardens," Drew Barrymore's hair has seen every color, curl, and updo imaginable.

My favorite looks have always been those that are dark blonde, slightly textured, and shoulder-length. I find them to be the most flattering and age appropriate.

Which of Drew's hairstyles do you like most?

Fringe Faux Pas

Leave it to Bai Ling to lower the bar. Famous for her questionable taste in everything from fashion to films, the actress appeared at the LA premiere of "Drag Me to Hell" in an awkward ponytail and unflattering fringe.

I'm not sure what bothers me most— the shape? The part? Bai's latest look is a perfect example of how not to style bangs.

The Stars Who Inspired Change

According to The Press Association, Jennifer Aniston's "Friends" cut, Twiggy's pixie, Madonna's bleached blonde tresses, and Marlene Dietrich's pin-thin brows are among the top "Beauty Trends That Shook the World."

My list would also have to include Audrey Hepburn's full brows, Veronica Lake's sculpted waves, and Marilyn Monroe's signature pin curls. They're each so iconic.

Which celebrities/hairstyles top your list of most influential?

2009 White House Correspondents' Dinner

From Eva Longoria Parker to Tyra Banks and Mariska Hargitay, Saturday's White House Correspondents' dinner was overflowing with A-List attendees.

Naturally, updos were the style of choice for this annual fte, but a few leading ladies did surprise us by mixing things up. Natalie Portman, who's almost always pulled-back, looked beautiful in an elegant half-updo, and Demi Moore was a vision in cascading curls.

Whose hairstyle rocked the red carpet?

Borat Burned by Bleach

Posted by babu 6:55pm GMT

J. Vespa/WireImage

According to recent reports, Sacha Baron Cohen is not a fan of bleaching body hair.

"He'd heard that all-over hairlessness is a popular trend in the gay community, so he thought he'd bleach all his hair so it looked invisible. But it quickly turned into a disaster."

Apparently, the comedian (famous for his Ali-G and Borat characters) suffered an all-over reaction and couldn't sit for days!

Let this serve as a lesson for those who are considering a walk on the lighter side— bleach is not dye, nor does it create "all-over hairlessness."

Poor Sacha. Hopefully he's now recovered and able to make full use of his tush.

Adrien Brody's Blue Streak: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by babu 2:11pm GMT

Jim Spellman/WireImage

Pictured here at the Cinema Society Screening of "The Brothers Bloom," Adrien Brody appears to be a bit blue — in the hair, that is.

It's not my favorite look for the actor but, as far as colorful streaks go, they're not too terrible. Perhaps he's gone blue for an upcoming role?

What do you think of Adrien's latest look?

This year's Met Gala provided us with a plethora of lust-worthy looks for the season— especially for all the prom queens and brides-to-be.

My picks for "Best Tressed" of the night include: Liv Tyler's glamorous waves, Heidi Klum's creative chignon, Blake Lively's sleek ponytail, Emma Stone's side-swept locks, Lake Bell's sexy menswear-inspired look and Chanel Iman's romantic updo.

Which star wins your vote for "Best Tressed"?

Costume Institute Gala 2009: Questionable Coifs

Posted by babu 12:05pm GMT

Dimitrios Kambouris/FilmMagic, Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images

Fashion's elite flocked to New York last night for the annual Costume Institute Gala, hosted by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme of this year's fund-raiser was "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion," and it seems some stars (or likely, their stylists) missed the memo.

Tyra Banks' toupee-esque updo was among my least favorite looks of the night, as was January Jones' '70s stripper look, Anne Hathaway's bouffant and Madonna's avant-garde scrunchie. (I mean, really? Wow.)

What do you think of these questionable coifs? Do any deserve a place in the Hair Hall of Shame?
