From Britney's comeback coiff to Drew's blonde ambition, 2008 has been full of celebrity hair transformations. But what marks this year for me is the number of stars that chose to cut it all off. Hayden Panettiere, Liv Tyler, Heidi Klum, Reese Witherspoon... You name it, they cropped it.

Some of the most notable new looks from this year include Gwyneth Paltrow's dramatic 'do, Posh's pixie, Anne Hathaway's mid-length cut, Hilary Swank's androgynous style, and Eva Longoria Parker's classic bob. Each was quite a departure, but turned out to be a risk that continues to pay-off big.

Who looked best with a little less hair in '08?

Fall '08 has runway models and red carpet regulars alike shining in super straight tresses. And from Posh's pixie cut to Lindsay's waist-long locks, stars are proving that any length and texture can look great in this sleek style.

To get this look, be sure to use a straightening balm (like Bumble & bumble Straight), proper thermal protectant (ghd's is amazing), and a lightweight shine serum (Shu Uemura makes a great one...) for best results. And though a good flat iron can be costly, the investment is well worth your hair health. Trust me, after a season of styling, you'll see the difference!

Will you be rocking board-straight tresses this season?
