Get in the holiday spirit with these fun (and fool-proof!) seasonal beauty trends:

Sparkly Nails
Glittery, over-the-top polish is the perfect compliment to the season's LBD.
Best Bet: Lippmann Collection Nail Lacquer in Happy Birthday!, a festive shade that's A-List approved. $18, LippmannCollection.com.

Fierce Lashes
Bold, look-at-me lashes are Hollywood's go-to for good reason— they're sexy, chic and frame the eyes beautifully. Click here for my top picks.

The Bold Lip
A crimson kisser isn't the only way to draw attention to your lips. Experiment with vivid pinks, futuristic shades of violet and rich, berry tones to find your best fit.

Brushed-Out Curls
Achieve voluminous waves— like Blake's— in under 5 minutes with a simple set of hot rollers. For added definition, mist hair with a flexible-hold hairspray before letting it down.
Best Bet:
Conair Ionic Instant Heat Jumbo Rollers. $24.99 (for 12), Target.com; Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray. $25, BumbleandBumble.com.

The Other Bun
Whether you're at the office holiday party or a formal fête, this easy, sophisticated hairstyle is always a safe bet. View a step-by-step tutorial here.

Get the Look: Blake Lively's Smoky Eye

Posted by babu 4:47pm GMT

George Napolitano/FilmMagic

Recreate Blake Lively's sexy, smoky eye from last night's CHANEL "Fête d'Hiver" Benefit with this step-by-step guide, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin:

"I was inspired by Blake's stunning CHANEL diamond Camelia brooch. I wanted her eyes to be dark and sexy, but the rest of her face to be light and fresh. She's young and sexy and wears a smoky eye so well!," says Levin.

On the Face
Levin used CHANEL Lift Lumiere Fluid Makeup in Beige all over Blake's face, and set it with CHANEL Poudre Cristalline Translucent Powder. On her cheeks, she dusted on CHANEL Blush Duo in Tweed Rose.

For the Eyes
For her eyes, Levin used the bronze and sand shades from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Variations, and CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Magic Night, a deep plum shade, to add dimension in the crease. She then lined the upper and lower lashes with CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Black Shimmer, and finished the eyes with three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black.

On the Lips
Finally, Levin created a soft pink lip with CHANEL Rouge Allure in Mythic, a sheer nude, then topped with a bit of CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Ming.

4 Steps to Sexy, Beachy Waves

Whether your hair is fine, coarse, short or long— tousled waves can add a youthful edge to any look, and help beat the heat and humidity of summer.

So how does one achieve ample, frizz-free texture? By following these four foolproof steps, of course:

Step One: Lather Up
Like any successful style, the path to "perfect" hair starts in the shower. To ensure optimal results, opt for a lightweight, moisturizing shampoo that's gentle enough to use daily if desired. (I adore Neil George Everyday Cleanse, which boasts orange blossom to intensify shine.)

Step Two: Protect Your Tresses
Between exposure to sun, surf and pollution, hair can dehydrate rapidly during the summer months. So be sure to guard your locks against damage, tangles and moisture-loss by spritzing a lightweight, leave-in conditioner on the bottom 3/4 daily. My favorite formula? Fekkai Beachcomber, which contains a nourishing blend of marine peptides, sea algae extract and UV-shielding ingredients.

Step Three: Fight Frizz
Humidity may add volume to limp locks, but it also amplifies the biggest cause of bad hair days— frizz. To keep your curls looking their best, always use a smoothing serum— like Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum— on wet (not towel-dried, or damp...) hair.

Step Four: Start a Wave
Now that you've laid the foundation, it's time to twist your tendrils into place. If you have:

Fine, Wavy/Curly Hair
Opt for an airy mousse or lightweight creme, like Bumble and bumble Curl Conscious Holding Foam and Defining Creme. For added texture, try Bb Surf Spray. It's the closest thing you'll find to a saltwater breeze.

Fine, Straight Hair
Use a curl-enhancing product— like TRESemme Curl Activator Spray— to create kinks and waves, and try experimenting with a diffuser to amplify the effect. (My diffuser-of-choice is T3's Bespoke, the "world's first tourmaline ceramic diffuser.")

Coarse, Wavy/Curly Hair
Control curls with a medium- to strong-hold glossing gel, like Garren Holding & Molding Gel or MIZANI Moisturizing Silkening Liquid Gel.

Coarse, Straight Hair
Prime board-straight tresses with a curl-activating spray gel (L'Oreal Vive Pro Glossy Style Glossy Curls Spray Gel works wonders), then style your locks using two curling irons, varying in size, for natural-looking, tousled waves. Finish your look with a light mist of flexible-hold hairspray.

Heidi's smooth, straight style. Ashley's luminous locks. Kristen's updo. Blake's tousled waves.

Fashion's brightest blondes dominated today's CFDA Awards, each in their own version of an "effortless" 'do.

Which "Gossip Girl" Star Gives You Hair Envy?

Posted by babu 6:20pm GMT

Bryan Bedder/Getty Images

Pictured here at The CW "UpFront" conference in NYC, the leading ladies of "Gossip Girls" each rocked a very different 'do for the event.

I'm partial to Leighton Meester's newly lightened locks, but Jessica Szohr's long, loose waves are also a favorite. Taylor Momsen and Blake Lively look great as well, but it just seems like they walked off set. There's nothing terribly exciting about either hairstyle. (In my opinion, anyway!)

Whose look do you like most?
