Tom Hanks' Tribute Gala: Which Look Works Best?

Posted by babu 2:58pm GMT

Janet Mayer/Splash News

Hollywood's A-List was out in full force on Monday night to celebrate the cinematic achievements of Tom Hanks at a gala held in his honor. And from chic chignons to voluminous waves, the red carpet was full of inspiring looks for spring.

My personal favorites include: Charlize Theron's sleek updo, Julia Roberts' dramatic side-part and tousled curls, Rita Wilson's teased bun, and Sally Field's luminous layers. Each look is effortless (or seemingly so!), relevant, and age-appropriate.

But whose look reigns supreme? That's for you to decide.

Which look works best?

Kim Kardashian's Latest Look: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by babu 10:56am GMT

Twitpic.com

Kim Kardashian was spotted out and about in NYC this weekend, sporting a dramatically different 'do. And, in true Kardashian style, the reality TV star took to her Twitter page to discuss her transformation (repeatedly).

I'm all for switching things up, but blonde wouldn't be my first choice for Kim's complexion and natural coloring. A few subtle highlights, maybe, but this full-on, caramel-coated coif looks rather ... synthetic.

What do you think of Kim's latest look?

Trend Alert: The "Lob"

The "Lob" (aka long bob) is the latest trend to take Hollywood, with stars of every age seen experimenting with this versatile cut.

A few favorites—

Heidi Klum: Slicked-Back
The key to Heidi's formal 'do is a sleek, lacquered finish. To get this look, try a long-lasting, strong hold hair gel— like Bumble and bumble Gellac— on wet hair.

Anne Hathaway: Romantic Waves
Loose, luminous curls work with any look, and add a softness to this (layer-less) cut. To keep your locks looking polished, finish with a lightweight shine serum like Shu Uemura Silk Oil.

Camilla Belle: Au Natural
Messy, bed-head tresses are a sexy (and easy) way to wear the "Lob." To amplify your natural texture, try Fekkai Coiff Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray.

Gwyneth Paltrow: Sleek & Straight
A classic, this smooth style can easily take you from day to night. Be sure to use a high-quality flat iron— like the T3 SinglePass Duality— when creating this look, to protect your tresses from heat and styling damage.

Topshop Opening Causes Waves

Loads of stars were out last night in celebration of Topshop's new flagship store in NYC, and it appears they all hit the same salon before the big event.

From Taylor Momsen's shagg to Emma Roberts' side-swept waves, each actress rocked a version of a beachy, tousled look.

Whose look do you like most?

Whitney Port's Headdress: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by babu 3:19pm GMT

Source: Soul Brother/FilmMagic

Whitney Port rocked a rather questionable headdress at the Season Finale of The Hills in NYC recently, especially given the time of year.

Perhaps she (or her stylist?) should have taken Coco Chanel's advice and removed that last over-the-top item before stepping in front of the cameras...

What do you think of Whitney's latest look, love it or hate it?

Super-Short Fringe: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 7:45am GMT

Source: Fernando Allende/Splash News

Christina Aguilera's new look has been a topic of much debate recently (Did she knick her style from Lady Gaga? What's that 50s-meets-punk-meets-peroxide coiff she's been sporting? Why the wigs?), but her latest, Audrey Hepburn-inspired 'do proves there's still hope.

This smooth, polished updo has Christina's locks looking the healthiest they have in years, and I'm loving the length. But do these cropped bangs work, or should they be banned from Tinsletown all together?

Are super-short bangs a trend or foe?
