Best Dressed at the 2012 SAG Awards

Posted by kgranero 4:18pm GMT

Now that I've shared the misses, it's time to highlight the hits.

The glee-ful gems included Naya Rivera (who looked drop-dead gorgeous in a subtly purple, plunging Naeem Khan gown with allover beading), Dianna Agron (who made her mark in a magenta Carolina Herrera gown with ruffle detailing) and Jayma Mays (who sparkled from head to toe in Reem Acra).

Lea Michele (who got leggy in a thigh-high-slit Versace number) and Michelle Williams (who looked ravishingly retro in a red Valentino gown with lace sleeves) also proved women to watch.

Colored Calf Hair: Trend or Foe?

Posted by kgranero 12:51pm GMT

Celebs like Olivia Wilde, Emma Stone and Jayma Mays are adding serious pep to their step with Brian Atwood's "Maniac" fuchsia calf hair platform pumps.

While there's no denying calf hair (and, for the animal and wallet friendly, faux equivalents) has proved a hot commodity among this season's accessory set (especially when it comes to handbags and shoes), I can't help but wonder if these obviously dyed (while highly coveted) pumps qualify as the pink elephant (or cow) in the room.

What's your take on colored calf hair?

Trend to Try: Horse Prints

Posted by kgranero 11:16am GMT

Welcome to the wild, wild west (Hollywood, that is), where celebs like Jayma Mays (in Asos), Selena Gomez, Kourtney Kardashian (also in Asos) and Leona Lewis have been horsing around in farm animal prints.

Get the look with either Asos pieces linked above, or the BCBGeneration Fossil Horse Print Woven Front Pocket Dress, which I personally purchased over the summer and have received tons of compliments on!

Fox All Star Party Trend: Pout-Pump Coordination

Posted by babu 12:41pm GMT

Jayma Mays and Naya Rivera proved bright ideas at this year's Fox All Star Party, where each lady coordinated her lips with her platforms.

Test drive the trend with these colorful combos:
ALDO Capecoral High Heel in Fuchsia Misc. + M.A.C Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Insanely It = PARTY GIRL
DV by Dolce Vita 'Briar' Pump in Red Suede + Urban Decay Lipstick in 5150 = RAVISHINGLY RETRO
Kimchi Blue Linen Pump in Orange + Sephora Collection Ultra Vinyl Lip Pencil in Coral Glow = DOWNTOWN CHIC

Dare to Wear: Jayma Mays

Posted by babu 4:24pm GMT

The first word that came to mind when I looked at this photo of Jayma Mays taken at "The Smurfs" World Premiere in New York was TACKY.

As if her bright green Reem Acra dress (complete with awkward flower patches) weren't obnoxious enough, the actress topped off her look with maroon platforms and a peach pout.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Best Dressed at the 2011 SAG Awards

Posted by babu 11:25am GMT

One by one, stars swept across the red carpet in a variety of breezy (and, in many cases, belted) evening gowns at the 2011 SAG Awards. And my top picks include...

Eva Longoria
in Georges Hobeika Couture. Watch out J. Lo! Not only was it refreshing to see Eva choose a gown that is neither BLACK nor FISHTAILED, but I am obsessed with the allover ruching on this plunging, crepe cutout gown.

Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen. Call it a comeback but, just like Eva, newfound singledom seems to be doing Mila's body (and wardrobe) good. The actress, who proved a woman to watch at this year's Golden Globes, was at it again last night in this chiffon sweetheart gown with allover watercolor print. A sheer, cream-colored sash along the waist wrapped up her romantic, cha-cha-esque look.

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta. I haven't exactly been swooning over Lea's red-carpet picks lately, so it's really nice to see her back on the best-dressed wagon. The "Glee" star exuded a head-to-toe glow in this creamy, wrap gown with allover shimmer. She added a modern touch of glam with a gold skinny belt at the waist.

Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton. While I've been on the fence about some of Claire's looks (including her neon pink Calvin Klein gown at this year's Golden Globes) in the past, there's no denying she looked gorgeous in this gardenesque gown, which was covered in silk floral appliques and topped off with a long, velvet belt. Her number one accessory? Husband Hugh Dancy.

Jayma Mays
in Jenny Packham. I especially love when younger stars pick Jenny Packham for the red carpet, because her designs are so fresh and free-spirited. Much like Emma Stone at the Golden Globes, Jayma was perfection in this polished, yet still playful, peach gown, which boasted sequin detailing along the shoulders. While I also loved Jayma's natural palette, I would've preferred to see her go with a simpler, less strap-heavy shoe.

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 Fox All-Star Party

Posted by babu 12:33pm GMT

Sexy sheaths and sleek, shiny hair conquered at the 2011 Fox All-Star Party in Pasadena, California.

Some of the all-star worthy styles included those of Jayma Mays (who looked playful in a bright pink, plunging Romona Keveza dress and ankle-cuff peep-toes), Emily Deschanel (who took the cake in a romantic, nude and lace BCBG Max Azria dress and chiffon clutch) and Naya Rivera (who made a sexy statement in a multi-print Christoforos Kotentos dress and red platforms).

Dianna Agron kept it casual (yet cute) in an LBD with a pop of red at the waist and black platforms. I would've loved Lisa Edelstein's silky, red polka-dot dress if the straps had been taken up a bit to offer her a little more support in the chest area.

Which star's party style is all-star worthy?

Red-Carpet Recap: "Glee" Season 2 Premiere Screening

Posted by babu 3:15pm GMT

The "Glee" cast and company sported a spectrum of cocktail dresses ranging from ruffled to refined at the "Glee" Season 2 Premiere Screening in Hollywood last night.

Some of my favorite looks included those of Lea Michele (in an embroidered, full-skirted mini dress), Dianna Agron (rocking a yellow and black Carolina Herrera number) and Jayma Mays (sporting a teal dress with tulle, fanlike detailing from Tadashi Shoji).

Which star's style is most gleeful?
