Style Showdown: Sonam Kapoor vs. Anna Paquin

Posted by kgranero 3:05pm GMT

Just a few months after Anna Paquin sported a sexy Stella McCartney paillette dress (from the designer's Fall 2011 collection) during the 2011 Summer TCA Tour in Beverly Hills, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor opted for the same spotty style at Pooja Makhija's Nourish launch in Khar.

While each lady had the curves to pull this body-hugging bodice off, I like how the hem of the dress fell just below the knee on Sonam. Factor in her sleek accessories and you've got a more polished look.

Who made a bigger splash in Stella McCartney?

One Designer, Two Ways: Versus

Posted by babu 1:41pm GMT

Kristen Bell proved a sheer sensation in a strapless Versus LBD cinched at the waist at the CBS, The CW And Showtime TCA Party in Beverly Hills this week.

Anna Paquin wore a square-neck (and slightly more colorful) version of the same style from the designer's fall 2011 collection (also paired with black satin platforms) at HBO's "True Blood" Season 4 Premiere in Hollywood in late June.

While I like Kristen's classy ensemble, I feel like the purple piping on Anna's style really captures the playful nature of the collection, so I'm giving this one to her.

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

Red-Carpet Recap: "Scream 4" Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 2:22pm GMT

Celebs spiced things up in a variety of revealing sheaths at the "Scream 4" premiere in Los Angeles.

Some of my favorite looks of the evening included those of the film's star Courteney Cox (who proved she's still got it in a lacy halter LBD from the Olsen sisters' line The Row), Kristen Bell (who was a splash of color in a cobalt cutout dress from Vanessa Bruno) and Hayden Panettiere (who was right on a trend for spring in a bright orange mini dress created by Zac Posen).

Arielle Kebbel (in a simple, yet sassy Gomez-Gracia sheath) and Anna Paquin (in a belly-baring Cushnie et Ochs LBD) also made my "HIT" list for the night.

Who was your best-dressed at the "Scream 4" premiere?

Red-Carpet Recap: 7th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

Posted by babu 4:32pm GMT

Call it a fashionista's playground; one can always can count on the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards for fresh faces and fearless fashions.

This year, some of my top looks included those of Kim Kardashian (who kept her Greek goddess streak going in a draped Zac Posen gown with heavy beading along the scooped neckline), Carey Mulligan (who was having a magic moment in a rich-colored, sequined Chanel sheath with matching jacket) and Blake Lively (who oozed sex appeal in a jersey and sheer Chanel LBD with beautiful embroidering from the torso down and burgundy pumps).

Also on my "IT" list were Anna Paquin (who kept people guessing in a multicolored Richard Chai sheath) and Leighton Meester (who looked funky-fresh in a heavily embellished and tiered Prabal Gurung dress).

Which celeb's fashion-forward look is your fave?

Dare to Wear: Anna Paquin

Posted by babu 12:38pm GMT

This is Sparta!

"True Blood" star Anna Paquin looked like she was suited up for battle at the 2010 Emmy Awards, to which she (predictably) wore an armour-clad gown from the Alexander McQueen Resort 2011 collection.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Trend to Try: Black and Blue

Posted by babu 1:38pm GMT

If you're going to leave a black and blue mark, do it on the red carpet. At least that's the mentality of celebs like Anna Paquin, Jessica Szohr and Deborah Woll, all of whom were spotted braving black and bright blue duds within the last few weeks.

I personally prefer colorblock versions of the shade duo, as sported by Anna and Jessica. Get the look with the Basic Colorblock Dress, $10.50, forever21.com.

"True Blood" Season 3 Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 3:05pm GMT

The most bloodthirsty women in television came out yesterday for the "True Blood" Season 3 Premiere in Hollywood.

Star Anna Paquin looked adorable in a full-skirted, black and blue minidress and black pumps. Deborah Ann Woll also opted for a black and blue dress (with sheer overlay), while Rutina Wesley kept things casual in a khaki-colored corset dress.

The cast was joined by celebs like Kate Bosworth (in a Preen cutout LBD) and Perrey Reeves, who wore a mint-green jumpsuit.

Upgrade: Anna Paquin Works It in Leopard

Posted by babu 2:44pm GMT

If you were to have seen Anna Paquin sparkling in her leopard-print Dolce & Gabbana sheath at a recent cocktail party hosted by Valentino, you would've hardly recognized her as the same girl who rocked cutoffs and Converses at a Make-A-Wish event back in March.

Maybe it had something to do with her decision to cover up her bra instead of her eyes.

Is this star's recent look an "upgrade" or a "downgrade" from her last one?

Reptile Prints: Girl Hot or Guy Hot?

Posted by babu 1:07pm GMT

New franchise alert!

After years of carefully broaching the topic of fashion among the good-sport guys in my life (friends, boyfriends, brothers, unsuspecting strangers), it's come to my attention that some of the trends we gals just go gaga over aren't exactly guy-friendly (read: anything that fits loosely or has a lot to "figure out").

This also goes along with the theory I've heard tossed around that suggests women don't actually dress to attract men, but rather to impress other women.

To separate the sheep from the goats (or, in this case, the straight-legs from the gauchos), I'm going to routinely throw out a rising fad I think could go either way. Once you vote, I'll follow up with the male verdict so you know if both sexes are on the same page (or, as in many cases, different planets).

For my first installment of "Girl Hot or Guy Hot?," I chose to address the sweeping reptile-print trend, which was sparked by the late Alexander McQueen and has been well received by actresses like Naomi Campbell, Anna Paquin and, most recently, Salma Hayek.

What is your take on these slithery sensations?

Trend to Try: Abstract Prints

Posted by babu 5:30pm GMT

As of late, it feels like I've been watching the red carpet through a kaleidoscope.

Stars like Amanda Seyfried, Leighton Meester and, most recently, Anna Paquin have been rocking bursts of color and shapes that put even the most captivating of screensavers to shame.

Check out this style steal (below) from Lipsy London, and find more celebrity prints on All the Looks.
