Dare to Wear: Kyra Sedgwick

Posted by babu 5:04pm GMT

Kyra Sedgwick wore what looked like a wrinkled (and ripped) Zac Posen LBD during a recent visit to "The Late Show With David Letterman."

She topped off her shearing-scissored style with a pair of croc-patterned pumps.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 12:55pm GMT

This week was all about the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards. And the winners are...

Christina Hendricks
in Zac Posen. I love the mossy, lavender shade of this gown, which manages to accent the "Mad Men" actress's many curves while still appearing classy.

Maria Menounos
in Ralph & Russo. The allover embellishments on this gown are to die for. I also love the cutouts along the waist, which lead into an open back.

Kyra Sedgwick
in Monique Lhuillier. While the sweetheart neckline and vertical pleating on this dress are no doubt sweet, it's the rich, plum hue (which really stands out against the backdrop of Kyra's milky skin) that sets it apart from the competition, and makes me look forward to fall.

Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera. Between its long tiers and allover stencil-like detailing, this old-fashioned creation has "My Fair Lady" written all over it.

Lea Michele
in Oscar de la Renta. While I would've liked to see Lea break away a bit more from her usual style mold, there's no denying the "Glee" actress looked stunning in this ruffled creation, which she topped off with equally spectacular jewels from Lorraine Schwartz.

Which star's Primetime Emmys look is your fave?

Dare to Wear: Kyra Sedgwick

Posted by babu 4:37pm GMT

Kyra Sedgwick recently paid a visit to "The Late Show with David Letterman" wearing a snakeskin-print Antonio Berardi sheath.

While I might have welcomed seeing this dress on the likes of Megan Fox or Scarlett Johansson, I can't help but feel that IT, along with the lacy bra peeking out of it, is a tad over-the-top for the actress, whom I prefer in slightly more modest styles.

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Wedding Dresses on the Red Carpet

Posted by babu 2:05pm GMT

Since when did wedding dresses become acceptable red-carpet wardrobe? Especially on a few single ladies who have had some
particularly scandalous breakups...

Rihanna (at Monday's NRJ music awards in London) may have made a fashion name for herself by testing the style waters -- and getting way with some pretty outrageous looks. But all that was missing from her Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2008 couture bridal gown is the bouquet that the model carried when she walked the runway in the same lace wedding look.

And was Kate Hudson sending a not-so-subtle message to her ex, baseball player Alex Rodriguez, in a Marchesa dress direct from the designer's Spring 2010 Bridal collection?

I am happy to sanction Kyra Sedgwick's choice of white dress from wedding queen Vera Wang, since Kyra has a whopping 22 YEARS of marriage under her belt to gorgeous actor Kevin Bacon.

However, I can't overlook the fashion faux pas of "Precious" actress Paula Patton who not only wore tons of bridal tulle at the recent SAG awards, but picked a dress that is in the shape of a wedding cake too.

Would you wear a wedding dress outside of your wedding?

Stars Get "Hip" at the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Posted by babu 11:02am GMT

Usually, women try to play down their hips. But it seems Hollywood has finally embraced feminine curves, and stars deliberately played them up at last night's 2010 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards with strategically placed brooches and gown details.

Bold shoulders were a surprise trend this year, but Marion Cotillard's Elie Saab couture gown design emphasized hips instead. Other stars, like Mariah Carey, "The Closer" star Kyra Sedgwick and "An Education" film actress Carey Mulligan used diamond pins to call attention to hips and whittled waists.

But it was Kate Hudson's white-hot bejeweled Pucci design with hip embellishment that burned up the red carpet and showed off her every curve.
