Worst Dressed at the 2011 SAG Awards

Posted by babu 12:06pm GMT

You've seen my best-dressed (a.k.a the calm before the storm) picks from the 2011 SAG Awards. And now, for the worst...

Winona Ryder
in Alberta Ferretti. Like in the case of many of Winona's past red carpet ruts, this cream and heavily tulled gown (from the designer's bridal collection) completely washed out the "Black Swan" actress's creamy complexion. I was also not a fan of her delicate, black jewels and clutch. This is NOT a delicate dress.

Nicole Kidman in Nina Ricci. I'm not sure if it was this gothic, lace-paneled gown so much as the colorful, floral Fred Leighton necklace pairing (which didn't lay against the gown nicely and seemed to come out of left field) that threw off Nicole's look, but it was off.

Kate Mara in Herve Leger by Max Azria. While I'm typically a fan of the Herve Leger bandage dress (aka young Hollywood's official party uniform), this gown (which looked like a bandage mini dress and tutu in one) had too much going on. To make it worse, the actress attempted to add another level of intrigue to her matchy-matchy look with a chiffon headband.

Jane Lynch in Ali Rahimi. This lavender silk-taffeta gown reminded me of an 80s prom dress, thrown over a matching gown. In my opinion, the gown could've used a little less puff and a little more pop.

Amy Adams in Herve L. Leroux. There was a lot of white on the red carpet this year and, while I don't typically dislike the color (or lack there of) on Amy, this bone-crushing gown, which managed to completely flatten the actress's chest, appeared painful. I also wasn't a fan of her no-fuss ponytail, which would've been better suited for the playground than an awards show.

Who was your worst dressed at the SAG Awards?

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Posted by babu 3:08pm GMT

The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off last Thursday.

So far, some of my favorite styles to come out of the festival include those of Carey Mulligan (who looked ravishingly retro in an eggplant Prada tea dress with allover quilt-like detailing) and Natalie Portman (who ditched the status quo in a partially sheer, cream and navy Vionnet shift dress with gold sequin detailing along the collar).

Joining them were Amy Adams (in an asymmetrical, blue sheath that managed to completely flatten her chest), Helen Mirren (in a lavender, silk gown with allover floral detailing and black cardigan) and Rashida Jones (in a printed blouse and full skirt duo paired with zigzag, ankle-cuff platforms).

Which star's film festival style is your fave?

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Bright Orange Gets Attention from Stars

Posted by babu 3:47pm GMT

Sound the alarm! We have another strong shade that is taking over the red carpet: can't-miss-me orange

While Kelly Osbourne tested out the look-at-me color back in December, Amy Adams wore her modified maternity dress from designer Carolina Herrera at the premiere of her new film "Leap Year" on January 6.

And Eva Amurri paired the hot color with warm gold accents yesterday to celebrate with all the nominees of the upcoming 2010 Golden Globes.

Would you wear this look?
