Dare to Wear: Ginnifer Goodwin

Posted by babu 3:16pm GMT

Ginnifer Goodwin looked part human, part porcupine in a cinched 3.1 Phillip Lim LBD with heavy embellishing along the sleeves last week during the 2011 TCA Summer Press Tour.

The "Big Love" star added extra spunk to her spiky style with lace peep-toe booties.

Would you dare to wear this look?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:00pm GMT

This week was all about the 2011 Met Gala. And the winners are...

Dakota Fanning
in Valentino Resort. The young actress, who is known for wearing Valentino on the red carpet, looked like a fairytale come true in this tulle gown, which was blooming with floral apploques.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Topshop Unique. The "Something Borrowed" actress made a bold statement in this emerald green cutout gown, which she accessorized with turquoise-hinted jewelry, shoes and makeup.

Ashley Greene in Donna Karan. The "Twilight" star stole the spotlight in this sequin-covered gown, which featured a sweetheart neckline and a train for extra drama.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stella McCartney. Perhaps one of my biggest surprises of the night, the usually casual Maggie was the epitome of glamour in this sparkling, midnight-hued gown, which coasted along the actress's every curve.

Diane Kruger in Jason Wu. This gown (which was designed by one of Diane's favorite designers) struck the perfect balance between sophisticated and sexy. The intricate sequin detailing along its bodice and Diane's exposed leg were equally eye-catching.

Who was your best-dressed at the Met Gala?

Red-Carpet Recap: "Something Borrowed" Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 6:32pm GMT

Kate Hudson has such amazing maternity style (much thanks to all the breezy maxi dresses and empire-waist evening gowns) that I selfishly wish she were pregnant more often.

Not surprisingly, the "Something Borrowed" star (who, in my opinion, is looking even better this pregnancy than the last) radiated at her film's premiere in Los Angeles, wearing a lemon custard-colored, chiffon Versace gown with playful cutouts in back.

She was joined by costar Ginnifer Goodwin (who looked spunky in a houndstooth-print Herve Leger by Max Azria bodice), as well as actress Hilary Swank (who kept it casual-chic in a Michael Kors ensemble) and reality-tv star Kristin Cavallari (who popped in a mosaic-beaded dress and magenta sandals).

Which star's premiere look would you like to borrow?

Affordable Style Watch: Ginnifer and Jessica Choose Topshop for the 2011 Met Gala

Posted by babu 12:49pm GMT

Who says you can't look beautiful on a budget? While other celebs were adorned in designer duds from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Marchesa, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jessica Szohr opted for dresses from the Topshop Unique collection (the product of Topshop's design team letting their inhibitions run wild) for the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Ginnifer, who happened to be one of my best-dressed picks of the evening, looked gorgeous in an emerald-green cutout gown from the label (completing her look with a matching, beaded necklace and complimentary eye makeup), while Jessica got frisky in a fringed, sweetheart LBD and matching peep-toe platforms.

Which star's Topshop Unique look is your fave?

Literal Animal Prints: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 3:21pm GMT

Who let the dogs out?!

From soft swans to riley rottweilers, celebs like Katy Perry, Liv Tyler and Ginnifer Goodwin are reshaping the animal-print trend by incorporating full-form animals and animal features into their everyday styles.

While I'm all for animal advocacy, especially when it comes to fashion, I can't help but think these carnal creations belong in captivity.

What's your take on literal animal prints?

Do these stars' styles ooze cool, or should they be caged? Weigh in below!

Dare to Wear: Ginnifer Goodwin

Posted by babu 2:50pm GMT

Apparently, Ginnifer Goodwin isn't one to walk the red carpet without backup.

From the front, the "Big Love" actress appeared to be keeping it classy (and somewhat safe) in a cream Louis Vuitton blazer and black trousers at the Tom Ford Beverly Hills Store Opening.

But a giraffe head peeking around the corner hinted at a wilder side (her back), which was covered with two large giraffe prints.

I'm not sure if it's the print, or the fit (or Ginnifer's new, mohawk 'do), but I just can't bring myself to like this look.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Red Carpet Recap: 2011 Costumer Designers Guild Awards

Posted by babu 3:28pm GMT

Spring was in the air at the 13th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, which took place yesterday in Beverly Hills.

Some of my favorite looks included those of Halle Berry (who radiated in a red, chiffon Elie Saab gown with allover lace detailing), Kristin Davis (who looked quintessentially "Charlotte" in a white Oscar de la Renta gown with black polka-dots and a silk ribbon tied around the waist) and Claire Danes (who revealed an edgy side in a heavily embellished shift dress accessorized with a brown leather belt and peep-toes).

Ginnifer Goodwin
(in a plunging, black and gold-lame cocktail dress and gladiator heels) and Lisa Edelstein (in a shimmering off-the shoulder LBD and peep-toe panel heels) were also among celebs who attended the awards.

Which star's shimmering style is your fave?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 11:16am GMT

This week was all about the perfect party dress. And the winners are...

Jennifer Lopez in Haute Hippie at the Venus Goddess Razor Global Ambassador unveiling. As usual, J.Lo achieved a head-to-toe glow in this nude blouse and sequined wrap-skirt dup, which she topped off with jewels and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Rachel Bilson in Burberry Prorsum at the "Waiting for Forever" premiere. Leather trimming added a sexy touch to this otherwise girly, ruffled-chiffon dress, which the actress topped off with ankle-strap pumps.

Heidi Klum in Rachel Roy at Lucky's March Issue Celebration. Posh gets a playful makeover in this magenta-streaked sheath. The fearless fashionista pumped up the volume even more with strappy sandals and a set of cage rings.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier at the Children Awaiting Parents event. The always put-together "Big Love" actress looked like a piece of art in this color-splashed and tinsel-accented, illusionary-inset dress, which she brightened up with red peep-toes.

Kim Kardashian in an asymmetrical gold mini at the Kardashian Glam Pack of Silly Bandz Launch Party. Kim appeared to be having a Lady Gaga moment in this origami-style, foam dress and, while somewhat out of character, I think her overall look (which also also consisted of gold jewel detailing and nude platforms) worked.

Which star's look is party-perfect?
