Fashion Formula: "The City" Stars Discuss Their Style

Whitney Port and her best friend from high-school Roxy Olin share more than just starring roles on the stylish reality-drama "The City." The two also share a few fashion formulas based on their recent attached-at-the-hip red carpet appearances.

Here is a [fictional] summary of what their pre-party convo may have sounded like:

WP: So, who's wearing tight trendy jeggings tonight, me or you?

RO: You are! But I wanna wear the boots tonight.

WP: OK - but I MUST carry my signature clutch.

RO: Did we decide if we are going for a pale 60's bisque pout, or should we scream "romantic and on trend!" with neon scarlet lips tonight?

WP: Well, red will clash with my new envelope clutch, so let's do Nars "Honey" lipstick.

RO: O.K., I think I am almost ready to leave. Just let me pull my hair nonchalantly into a side-pony and grab a piece of odd statement jewelry.

WP: Great! I'll just pick out one of my many sassy hair accessories and we are all set!

Fashion Formula: Sarah Jessica Parker Continues Her Pink Streak

Either Sarah Jessica Parker has a serious fashion addiction for everything PINK, or she is just getting into the Valentine's Day spirit early. The stylista showed up AGAIN in another magenta look -- a Dior raspberry silk georgette and lace dress -- over the weekend at a human rights event in NYC.

And when you start to out-weird the Olsen twins when it comes to their bag-lady-meets-street-walker style, then it is definitely time for your fashion intervention.

Fashion Formula: Sarah Jessica Parker Is in the Pink

Forget being shoe-obsessed like her "Sex and the City" character, Carrie Bradshaw. Sarah Jessica Parker gets her fashion fix from the touches of bright pink she works into her red-carpet moments — from hats and dresses to bags and shoes (natch). And the upbeat color is even a perfect match for SJP's bubbly personality.

The star continued to push for pink with a fuchsia scarf and satin kitten heels on January 21, while her neon-pink patent Diane De Maria "Bonnie" bag is still burned into my mind as a must-have item for the season.

And previously, SJP chose a magenta Marchesa dress and matching fedora for her "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" premiere and a memorable Oscar de la Renta asymmetrical silk skirt at a "Fashion's Night Out" event back in September. But it's the actress's sweet Christian Louboutin bow heels that we crave NOW.

Fashion Formula: Jessica Alba's Striped Sweater Collection

When Hollywood mom Jessica Alba isn't getting glam for the red carpet and wowing fashion fanatics in designer gowns, the busy actress reaches for one of her many striped sweaters to pair with jeans for a day of running errands.

Just top off the graphic knit with practically mandatory sunglasses (for LA) and a trendy-but-functional carryall, and every girl can recreate Alba's easy fashion formula for chic street style.

Dare to Wear: Ashlee Simpson

For those of you who saw Leighton Meester's scarf disguise last week, things just got a tad more interesting.

Ashlee Simpson and hubby Pete Wentz had some fun with the paparazzi in New York yesterday, both wearing masks and equally interesting hats. While Pete's reminded me of one of the GEICO cavemen, Ashlee opted for an old lady.

At least they were able to keep their faces warm.

Dare to Wear: Taylor Momsen

Dear Taylor Momsen,
If you feel a little wind chill throughout your entire thigh region it's most likely due to the fact that you are LITERALLY OUTSIDE!

The "Gossip Girl" actress, whose schooling apparently consists of studying Victoria's Secret catalogs, headed to the set in New York wearing thigh-high tights with garters and, well, that was pretty much it from the waist down.

What's great is that she appears to be shyly tugging at the bottom of her skirt in an attempt to cover more ground, as if she had no idea it was so short until being photographed. Get a room!
