Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Wedding Dresses on the Red Carpet

Since when did wedding dresses become acceptable red-carpet wardrobe? Especially on a few single ladies who have had some
particularly scandalous breakups...

Rihanna (at Monday's NRJ music awards in London) may have made a fashion name for herself by testing the style waters -- and getting way with some pretty outrageous looks. But all that was missing from her Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2008 couture bridal gown is the bouquet that the model carried when she walked the runway in the same lace wedding look.

And was Kate Hudson sending a not-so-subtle message to her ex, baseball player Alex Rodriguez, in a Marchesa dress direct from the designer's Spring 2010 Bridal collection?

I am happy to sanction Kyra Sedgwick's choice of white dress from wedding queen Vera Wang, since Kyra has a whopping 22 YEARS of marriage under her belt to gorgeous actor Kevin Bacon.

However, I can't overlook the fashion faux pas of "Precious" actress Paula Patton who not only wore tons of bridal tulle at the recent SAG awards, but picked a dress that is in the shape of a wedding cake too.

Stars Get "Hip" at the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Usually, women try to play down their hips. But it seems Hollywood has finally embraced feminine curves, and stars deliberately played them up at last night's 2010 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards with strategically placed brooches and gown details.

Bold shoulders were a surprise trend this year, but Marion Cotillard's Elie Saab couture gown design emphasized hips instead. Other stars, like Mariah Carey, "The Closer" star Kyra Sedgwick and "An Education" film actress Carey Mulligan used diamond pins to call attention to hips and whittled waists.

But it was Kate Hudson's white-hot bejeweled Pucci design with hip embellishment that burned up the red carpet and showed off her every curve.

Best-Dressed at 2010 Golden Globes

Last night, at the 67th Annual Golden Globes, not even an unexpected LA downpour could deter our favorite TV and film stars from going for all-out glam at the event that officially kicks off the 2010 awards show season.

Stars went for sophisticated gowns and classic looks of strapless dresses and beaded designs that were worthy of a few style awards themselves.

If the Golden Globes is the warm-up for awards season, I can't wait to see how stars top these fabulous looks, when they walk their next red carpets for the SAG Awards and the "big show" of the Oscars.

“Nine” Premiere Red Carpet Is a Perfect 10

Did you expect the all-star cast of the anticipated song-and-dance extravaganza film “Nine” to walk the red carpet in anything less than all-out glam style?

Penelope Cruz’s red gown was stunning and the strong shade seems like a such wonderful nod to her Spanish roots.

Californian Kate Hudson was “party in the front” and “serious glam” from behind in her Chanel show-stopper.

Soft-spoken Nicole Kidman chose quieter Prada LBD, while Fergie (in Marchesa) and Marion Cotillard got the same memo on wearing a “long white dress” for last night’s NYC premiere.

All the stars of the film were adorned last night in stunning Chopard jewelry, but Fergie’s 15 carat white diamond and white gold cuff that receives the Best Bling Award.

Quick-Change Artist: Kate Hudson’s Fab Post Breakup Style

Ladies, so what should you do to bounce back from a breakup? Do what Kate Hudson did after she and baseball player A-Rod recently called off their romance: Pack your calendar to the brim with new dates; and get gussied up for every event you can score an invite to, since you never know where Mr. Better-Than-The-Last-Dude will be found.

Yesterday, in NYC, on the same day her breakup rumors started circulating online, Kate crisscrossed the city from one event to another in a flirty new outfit for each stop.

12:00 p.m. – Lunch with the girls in a cool khaki suit and a burst of color in her top (Kate’s “girls” included superstar Vogue editor Anna Wintour)

2:00 p.m. – Top the suit with an ultra-flattering, feminine pink coat to head to the MTV studios

3:00 p.m. – Change into an on-trend leopard look to do live interview with MTV host and fellow style icon Alexa Chung

4:00 p.m. – Wow the crowd in a Jasmine di Milo coat and must-have $1,485 Brian Atwood “Wagner” rivet suede pumps (for sale here)
