Because very few of us have the time or money for a personal trainer this season, we enlisted Australian lingerie expert Bruno Schiavi, the designer behind the Dr. Rey Shapewear collaboration (his celeb clients include Kelly Rutherford, Carmen Electra, Halle Berry and Janet Jackson, to name a few), to offer up some quick slimming tips for looking great at all of those holiday soirees (a.k.a. cookie conventions). Tip 1: Accentuate your best asset! If you have great legs, show them off. If you have a great bust line, make it work for you. You will feel confident about your appearance if you spend as much time focusing on your assets as you do hiding your figure flaws!
Tip 2: As mentioned, if your legs are your best feature, forego wearing long, floor-length dresses and opt for shorter, mid-thigh dresses. To elongate your legs, pair the dress with a simple heel. Just remember: An outfit should have one focal point, so if you want to draw attention to the leg, make sure the rest of the outfit is simple and not competing for attention.
Tip 3: Dress in one color or tone from head to toe, to elongate the body and appear taller and thinner. The deeper the color, the more slimming. Black, gray, navy and chocolate are, of course, great base tones.
Tip 4: Create a variety of different looks with your simple black dress by pairing it with fun jewelry and accessories. Great accessories (such as Kelly Rutherford's bold, red pumps [below]), oversized necklaces and big bangles can help detract from problem areas!
