Dare to Wear: Alicia Keys

Posted by babu 5:07pm GMT

Alicia Keys was in full bloom in a flower-filled Dolce & Gabbana dress at the Keep A Child Alive Black Ball in London.

As if the singer's full-figured dress wasn't eye-catching enough, she topped off her look with a pair of spiked stilettos.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Dare to Wear: Alicia Keys

At first glance, you can't really tell that the specks of red all over Alicia Keys' silky sheath (worn to the Gotham Magazine Annual Gala) are actually butterflies.

I'm not sure how I feel about this look. It may be a little immature for me.

One Designer, Two Ways: Giorgio Armani

Posted by babu 12:32pm GMT

If Camilla Belle's Giorgio Armani dress (worn to the InStyle/Warner Bros. Golden Globes after party) looks familiar, it's because the crystal-embellished, origami-folded neckline strongly resembles that of the dress (same designer) worn by Alicia Keys to the American Music Awards back in November.

Despite the use of a different fabric design and a slightly longer hem, Camilla's dress was no doubt created from the same abstract designer mold. Note: it appears Alicia's gem color scheme also incorporates red, whereas Camilla's seem a bit more subtle.

I usually choose a favorite here, but I can honestly say I think each girl's style is befitting of her individual style personality. Camilla is more poised, whereas Alicia is a diva. Well played, ladies!

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

Dare to Wear: Alicia Keys

Posted by babu 3:06pm GMT

How do you come out of history's biggest ink spill with your head held high? Add a skinny belt and matching shoes.

At least, that's what Alicia Keys appeared to have done at her album launch last night. I wonder how many Tide To Go pens it would take to clean this one up...

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Split Pant Syndrome

Posted by babu 4:59pm GMT

Anyone that has talked to me for more than 5 minutes knows I'm obsessed with icon Kate Moss's style. The woman, in my book, can do no wrong when it comes to red carpet style or even just her “walking out of the house to get milk” fashion sense.

So, when I saw a recent pic of Miss Moss in London in new to-die-for-but-only-Kate-could-get-away-with–that-front-stitched pants (yes, that IS a trend), I nearly fell out of my chair.

Then, Alicia Keys wore a version of the punk pants (with safety pins) a few nights ago for her World Aids Day Charity performance to signal the arrival of the newest celebrity fashion trend --started first by Queen Kate.

What do you think of this new bold trend of front-stitched rocker pants?

AMA Red Carpet Royalty: A Diva, A Queen and Stylish Ladies

Posted by babu 12:35pm GMT

Since leaving "American Idol," Paula Abdul has really upgraded her fashion game. Her black gown at last night’s American Music Awards was Oscar-worthy. But not one to leave ALL the crazy at home, Paula’s dress required two handlers to move her down the red carpet (pic below). Let’s hope she didn’t have to use the restroom last night.

Rihanna is the reigning queen of dramatic style, and the laser-cut roses in her Marchesa dress reminded me of the Queen of Hearts from "Alice in Wonderland."

Alicia Keys loves color and stood out among last night’s many black and silver dresses in her blue Giorgio Armani jewel-encrusted dress and coordinated heels. I love this look for a music awards event since it has a bit of flash and edge.

Carrie Underwood wore another great Theia dress that showed off her love of shine, while Nicole Kidman (who was at the event to support husband Keith Urban) chose a lace Balenciaga dress that was ideal for the actress’s feminine, sophisticated style.

Check out Paula's personal dress handlers:
