This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 3:21pm GMT

This week was all about glitz and glamour. And the winners are...

Gwen Stefani in L.A.M.B. at the2011 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala. The singer and mom of two looked like Hollywood Barbie inthis gold-belted fishtail gown featuring a lace collar and allover shimmer, which proved my favorite gown of the week.

Jane Fonda in Roberto Cavalli at the 2011 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala. The actress and fitnessbuffprovedshe's stillgot it (at age 73) inthis gorgeous, sequin-leopard-spotted gown, which sheaccented with emerald drop earrings.

Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive at the “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” premiere in Germany. Penelope looked red-hot (even for her) in this fiery, taffeta gown.

Kirsten Dunst in Chanel Couture at the 2011 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala. While thisromanticgown definitely had an old-fashioned feel to it, themulti-patterned detailingon the sheer overlaycame off asfresh and modern. I also love how Kirsten sharpened her otherwise soft look with a bold lip.

Bar Refaeli in Roberto Cavalli at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. The newly single model showcased hersmokin' bodin this curve-hugging creation, which boasted cutouts and a sequin lined collar for extra sex appeal.

Which star's glitzy getup is most glam?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 6:21pm GMT

This week was all about high sheen. And the winners are...

Penlope Cruz, stunning in a geometric Versace gown at the 2010 Goya Awards. Proving the saying "You can't judge a book by its cover," this dress appears sophisticated on the front end, while two zippers down the back hint at a wilder side.

Leona Lewis
in a steel-gray William Tempest mini at the 2010 Brit Awards. Hot-pink pumps and an edgy cuff pack extra punch into this futuristic creation.

Camilla Belle, radiating in a magenta Marchesa gown at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. Gem-encrusted leaves along the bodice of this ethereal gown give it a garden-goddess feel.

Marion Cotillard, smoking in a satin and lace Christian Dior Couture bodice at the "Nine" premiere in Paris. The actress completed the sassy-sweet number (love the geometric, corset-like boning) with matching ankle-strap heels.

Carey Mulligan
, charming in a satin Nina Ricci gown at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards. While simple, this dress has an innocence about it that I can't help but admire. I also love the flowers along the hip and at the shoulder of this gown (just precious!).

Whose red-carpet look is most radiant?

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: "Sheggings," The New "Jeggings"

Posted by babu 9:55am GMT

First, there were leggings, made famous by constantly being worn by Lindsay Lohan. Then, Gwyneth Paltrow and other stars introduced us to "jeggings."
And today, I announce the official creation of "sheggings" --where shoes and leggings have merged into a single item of clothing.

Penelope Cruz flirted with the idea of "sheggings" at her "Nine" premiere last November with a barely discernible difference between her pants and shiny latex-like OTK (over-the-knee) boots.

But it was Diane Kruger (wearing a look from Karl Lagerfeld) and trend-lover Blake Lively (in Stella McCartney laser-cut shoe-stockings) who went for the new all-in-one effect on the very same day.

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Lace Looks Lead Fall Trends

Posted by babu 2:38pm GMT

Alright, ladies, if you didn't pick up that the lace trend is the must-have accent for winter, based on the stars who have either piled on the look in the past month, or tried out the trend with subtle insets, then here's a little more evidence that the feminine fabric is taking over the red carpet.

Abbie Cornish's lace top by Stella McCartney would look great at any cocktail party or dinner date with friends.

But, the more daring Dolce & Gabbana dress on Penelope Cruz (pictured today with her "Nine" co-star Marion Cotillard and Italian style icon Sophia Loren) is best reserved for an all out night of drinks and dancing.

“Nine” Premiere Red Carpet Is a Perfect 10

Posted by babu 10:24am GMT

Did you expect the all-star cast of the anticipated song-and-dance extravaganza film “Nine” to walk the red carpet in anything less than all-out glam style?

Penelope Cruz’s red gown was stunning and the strong shade seems like a such wonderful nod to her Spanish roots.

Californian Kate Hudson was “party in the front” and “serious glam” from behind in her Chanel show-stopper.

Soft-spoken Nicole Kidman chose quieter Prada LBD, while Fergie (in Marchesa) and Marion Cotillard got the same memo on wearing a “long white dress” for last night’s NYC premiere.

All the stars of the film were adorned last night in stunning Chopard jewelry, but Fergie’s 15 carat white diamond and white gold cuff that receives the Best Bling Award.

Whose "Nine" premiere style is a perfect 10?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:23pm GMT

This week was all about...great lengths. And the winners are...

Kate Beckinsale wearing a strapless Lanvin sheath at the “Everybody’s Fine” premiere in New York. A sweep of gray tulle along the strapless bodice and hemline, paired with matching gray heels, add dimension to this LBD. She looks frighteningly polished, as usual.

Penelope Cruz
in a light blue-gray Ralph Lauren gown at the "Nine" premiere in London. The combination of beading and chiffon tiers on this dress creates a storybook-romance vibe.

Kate Hudson
rocking a white Atelier Versace gown at the "Nine" premiere in London. While Penelope's dress was gorgeous, even it couldn't manage to upstage Kate's dress, which is right on par with the actress's unapologetic approach to fashion. With detailed bodice and tiered, asymmetrical skirt, this gown is equal parts glamorous and gutsy.

Hilary Swank
in a sapphire blue Calvin Klein gown at the Museum of the Moving Image salute to Clint Eastwood. The way each piece of this dress twists and turns to highlight Hilary's best assets is almost magical.

Jennifer Garner
wearing a belted sheath to the Children's Defense Fund's 19th Annual Los Angeles "Beat the Odds" Awards. While this dress is no Emmys make, it exudes sophistication from shoulder to mid-calf hem. The jeweled belt details also add a sexy, yet subtle, touch.

Which actress's look is loveliest?

Pip, Pip, Hooray! Fabulous Fashion at “Pippa Lee” Premiere

Posted by babu 11:05pm GMT

I wasn’t won over by the new leggy looks worn by newly single Robin Wright
(she’s dropped the Penn part of her name since our last post), but I loved the daring, modern but oh-so feminine red carpet looks her co-stars wore to their “The Secret Life of Pippa Lee” film premiere.

Friends and co-stars, Marion Cotillard, in a dreamy creamy sequin-accented dress, and Penelope Cruz, in a smart black blazer and of-the moment OTK boots, looked hip while joined at the hip.

Julianne Moore selected a rather tame look from wild fashion duo Viktor & Rolf whose designs were worn recently by Katy Perry for the stage and for shock .

People are still gossiping over Blake Lively’s plunging Marchesa blazer and short shorts. But I wasn’t shocked since the bare-all look is becoming her signature style.

And, Olivia Palermo did not act in the movie, but I still love her downtown cool look of leather leggings and furry vest and my favorite way to accessorize: with a cool clashing clutch.
