Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 CMT Music Awards

Posted by babu 2:22pm GMT

Country crooners braved the Texas heat last night in the name of the 2011 CMT Music Awards.

Some of the more notable (and surprisingly fluff-free) looks included those of Jennifer Nettles (who rocked an asymmetrical lace and leather Valentino number), Kristin Chenoweth (who looked feminine in a lace gown wrapped up with a black bow at the waist) and Laura Bell Bundy (who sparkled in a gold-sequined bodice and matching peep-toe platforms).

Attendees who made my "Do not try this at home" list included Sheryl Crow (who wore a white Catherine Malandrino gown with embellishments protruding awkwardly from one hip) and Nicole Kidman (who was wearing a Proenza Schouler dress that looked like a kids' craft project gone awry).

Which country crooner's style is your fave?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 2:43pm GMT

This week was all about...puttin' on the ritz. And the winners are...

Taylor Swift sparkling in a Reem Acra gown at the 2009 CMA Awards. The sequin detailing on this dress is every little girl's fairytale come true.

Kristen Bell in TIBI at the Assassin's Creed II Launch Party. Though from the Spring 2010 collection, the bold, allover black print on this sheath is right on trend for fall.

Jennifer Nettles
glowing in a Luisa Beccaria gown. The ruffled detailing along this fishtail train gives the otherwise sophisticated dress a flirty feel.

Lauren Conrad
rocking a mini shift dress and Joie Arietta sequined blazer at the Assassin's Creed II Launch Party. This blazer gives the otherwise basic dress instant party potential.

Kristen Stewart
wearing a chiffon J. Mendel sweetheart dress at "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" photocall in Paris. While the tomboy doesn't exactly own her look, it is the only one I've seen her in and loved. The ruched bodice and draped skirt take this dress from simple to sensational (reminds me of something Taylor Swift might wear).

Which star has the ritziest style?

Best-Dressed at the 2009 CMA Awards

Posted by babu 6:57pm GMT

Forget fru-fru frocks (at least on the red carpet, that is)! This year's CMA Awards were characterized by sophisticated styles with a splash of sparkle.

And the awards for best-dressed go to...

Carrie Underwood wearing a metallic Theia gown. One of the co-host's most modest looks of the night, the geometric detailing on this dress manages to glide effortlessly over her every curve.

Taylor Swift sparkling in Reem Acra. I can't say I was surprised to see Taylor choose this dress because it's right on cue with her whimsical, fairy princess-esque style, but I can say she was definitely the Belle of the Ball.

Jennifer Nettles working it in a navy Luisa Beccaria gown. The allover ruffles on this dress's fishtail train offer a playful touch to this otherwise polished look, which happens to be my favorite of the night.

Faith Hill in a flowing, steel-purple gown. Jeweled straps, earrings and several necklace strands give this otherwise simple halterneck gown a glamorous feel.
