Dare to Wear: Paloma Faith

Posted by babu 11:53am GMT

Paloma Faith proved the pot of gold at the end of the red-carpet rainbow in a heavily-sequined Vivienne Westwood gown at the Keep A Child Alive Black Ball in London.

The actress acessorized her caped creation with matching gloves and a sequined beret.

Dare to Wear: Lucy Liu

Posted by babu 12:42pm GMT

It looks like someone's eco-friendly!

Lucy Liu appeared to have recycled her picnic blanket in a plaid Vivienne Westwood dress at the "Kung Fu Panda 2" premiere in Australia.

She topped off her park-savvy style with a pink clutch and peep-toe slingbacks.

Dare to Wear: Jaime Winstone

Posted by babu 4:06pm GMT

Jaime Winstone showed off her patriotism in a red and white Vivienne Westwood gown and metallic-blue workboots at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Preview Party in London yesterday.

If you take a closer look at the dress's neckline, you'll notice the English actress (whose personal style resembles that of Helena Bonham Carter) was about three threads short of a major wardrobe malfunction.

Style Showdown: Nicky Whelan vs. Marisa Tomei

Posted by babu 5:18pm GMT

It looks like Nicky Whelan granted herself a "Hall Pass" to steal another celeb's style at her film's premiere in Los Angeles.

Not only did the actress wear the same leafy Vivienne Westwood dress donned by Marisa Tomei at the AMPAS 2nd Annual Governors Awards, but she went as far as to copy Marisa's shoe pairing (and even her hairstyle)!

While both stars looked great in the gardenesque getup (which has also been worn by Debi Mazar), I'm giving this one to Marisa for originality.

Who wore Vivienne Westwood better?

Dare to Wear: Anne Hathaway

Posted by babu 1:52pm GMT

Anne Hathaway chose a taupe Vivienne Westwood gown for the “Alice In Wonderland” Royal World Premiere in London last night.

While I love it when Anne experiments with different designers (she often sticks with Armani or Prada), I just don't think this dress is a good fit for her.

That said, her makeup looks great.

One-Shoulder Wonders at the 2010 People's Choice Awards

Posted by babu 2:26pm GMT

While average Joe's (and Jane's) picked their favorite actors, films and TV shows at last night's People's Choice Awards event, stars were casting their own votes for their favorite fashion of the night: one-shoulder dresses. This distinct style, which took hold in 2009, was "most popular" on the red carpet last night based on the number of stars who wore the asymmetrical style to the event:

Sandra Bullock, collected her award for Favorite Movie Actress (for "The Proposal") in a gold-on-gold floral-patterned Vivienne Westwood gown.

The always beaming and beautiful Olivia Wilde of "House" rocked it in a feminine, retro-looking Monique Lhuillier dress.

And Ginnifer Goodwin, who presented the award for Favorite Male Artist to Nicole Kidman's husband Keith Urban, stood out in a mix of stripes and floral accents by Christian Lacroix.

The star of the soon sure-to-be people's favorite movie remake, "The Karate Kid," Taraji P. Henson chose a solid Alberta Ferretti floor-grazer that looked delicious in pale pink.

And funny actress Jenna Elfman, whose new TV comedy "Accidentally, On Purpose" was nominated for Favorite New Comedy, barely looked 8 months pregnant when seen straight on in her black jersey dress.

Whose one-shoulder dress from the 2010 People's Choice Awards is your favorite?

One Designer, Two Ways: Vivienne Westwood

Posted by babu 1:14pm GMT

While it's not uncommon to see celebrities (and everyone else) go through designer phases, this is my first time comparing two strikingly similar designer duds worn by the same woman.

Leona Lewis braved a catwoman-esque pleather and tulle ball gown designed by Vivienne Westwood at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards.

Just over two weeks later, the singer, who's been wearing a lot of corseted creations lately, showed up to the 2009 American Music Awards in what appeared to be the same dress minus the tulle. While I don't like either adaptation, I'd have to choose her latest pick just because it's less dress.

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

Dare to Wear: Leona Lewis

Posted by babu 12:04pm GMT

Leona Lewis was a little more diva (and a lot more dominatrix), at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards last night.

Though the singer's makeup and hair were exquisite, her Catwoman-meets-Corpse Bride ensemble, designed by Vivienne Westwood, was more scary than sexy. I'm sure if you were to dig through enough layers of tulle, you'd find her whip.
