Red-Carpet Recap: 2012 Critics' Choice Awards

Posted by kgranero 11:58am GMT

Girly glam (and chiffon) was the name of the game at the 17th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards, which took place in Los Angeles yesterday evening.

My favorite looks included those of Michelle Williams (who looked classic in a black and white Chanel gown with sculpted shoulders), Charlize Theron (who showed off her flawless figure in a scalloped and faintly scaled Azzedine Alaia number that concluded with multiple rows of ruffles) and Diane Kruger (who achieved pastel perfection in a color-blocked Prada gown).

Runners-up included Elle Fanning (in a Woodstock-worthy floral applique Rodarte gown) and Emma Stone (in a multi-keyhole Jason Wu gown covered with what appeared to be little trees).

Who was your best-dressed at the Critics' Choice Awards?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 4:00pm GMT

This week was all about letting personalities shine. And the winners are...

Blake Lively
in Gucci Resort at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. Summer-meets-fall in this tangerine-hued, leather sheath, which the "Gossip Girl" actress accessorized with turquoise jewelry and leopard pumps.

Taylor Swift in Rafael Cennamo at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. The singing sensation pulled a "Marilyn Monroe" in this full-skirted cocktail dress with beautiful beading along the waistline. She completed her look with bowed peep-toes.

Diane Kruger
in Jason Wu Resort at the 10th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree. As usual, the actress pushed the envelope in this tuxedo short ensemble, which she lightened up with a colorful bag and shoe.

Kaley Cuoco in Rebecca Taylor at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. This multi-tiered and pleated dress looks like something from the "SATC2" set. Maybe that's because it looks similar to one of Carrie Bradshaw's Halston Heritage numbers. Either way, it oozes luxury vacation.

Jordana Brewster
in Oscar de la Renta at the 10th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree. Jordana struck the perfect balance between sexy and sweet in this pleated and ruched dress. While I love her retro shoe pairing, I wish she would have opted for a different colored clutch (too matchy-matchy).

Which star's unique style is your fave?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:23pm GMT

This week was all about creative necklines and killer curves. And the winners are...

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Gucci at the 2011 Moscow International Film Festival. Rose has been cranking out onebreathtaking red-carpet look after another lately, her latest being no exception. I love how theoversized rosette on this gown is so elaborate that it almost manages to steal attention from the partially sheer skirt.

Diane Kruger in YSL at the amfAR Inspiration Gala.Miss Kruger looked like a Grecian goddess in this plunging, red gown gathered at the waist. A bright red lip and a top-knot tied up her simple, yet sensational, style. My only concern is that it doesn't look like she was wearing a bra.

Kate Winslet in Victoria Beckham at the YO DONA Magazine International Awards. The actress was the epitomeof class and grace in this structured-shoulder gown, whichfeatured edgy, chain-like embellishing along the waist.

Eva Mendes in Thierry Mugler at the Angel by Thierry Mugler Campaign Launch. The cutout-sweetheart neckline makes this white gown, which the actress (and face of the fragrance) glammed up witha bevy of jewels.

Liv Tyler in Stella McCartneyat“The Ledge” screening in New York. The actress took a milder approach to the color-blocking trend inthis bold, two-toned dress, which she accessorized with a black clutch and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Selena Gomez Falls Under the Dolce & Gabbana Spell

Posted by babu 3:56pm GMT

And so the lacy Dolce & Gabbana mini saga continues...

Following the footsteps of Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger and Alessandra Ambrosio, Selena Gomez wore the popular lacy (and embellished) mini from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011 collection to the 22nd Annual MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto this past weekend.

While I can see the allure of this dress (it's short, sparkly and quintessentially spring/summer), I can't help but think this dress has come to the end of its long and overused road.

Who looked loveliest in this lacy Dolce & Gabbana creation?

This Week's Fab Five

This week was all about breezy hues and lacy details. And the winners are...

Blake Lively in Chanel at the "Green Lantern" premiere in Los Angeles. Blake is having a serious Chanel moment and, while the partially-sheer skirting on this gown took a little getting used to, the allover floral applique detailing is to die for.

Diane Kruger in Alessandra Rich at the 'Liaisons Au Louvre II Charity' Gala Dinner. Diane has a penchant for traditional styles with modern twists (a la Jason Wu), so it comes to no surprise that she chose this sassy-meets-sweet belt and gown pairing.

Eva Longoria in Monique Lhuillier at the 2011 Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund Awards. Eva (like Demi Moore andAngelina Jolie) has a tendency to wear black on the red carpet, so it's refreshingwhenever she opts for color. This seafoam-hued dress is both feminine and sophisticated. I only wishshe'daccessorizedwith amatte shoe.

Olivia Wilde in Yigal Azrouel Resort at the 10th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Olivia exuded elegance in this patterned chiffon gown, which featured jewel detailing along the waist and sheer sleeves.

Heidi Klum in Michael Kors at theSecond Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala. The "Project Runway" judge showed off her flawless figure in this slinky, electric-blue gown, which she accessorized with strappy nude sandals.

Trend to Try: Teal Heels

Posted by babu 12:49pm GMT

Celebs are packing some serious punch into their spring wardrobes with aquamarine shoes!

Ranging from lighter, seafoam shades to saturated teals (and casual sandals to power pumps), the teal heel train is going full steam ahead for summer.

Get your feet wet (no pun intended) with these colorful kicks from Topshop and Victoria's Secret..

Will you try this trend?

Style Showdown: Alessandra Ambrosio vs. Diane Kruger

Posted by babu 3:31pm GMT

Lingerie model Alessandra Ambrosio got leggy in a lacy little Dolce & Gabbana number at the Victoria's Secret 6th Annual "What Is Sexy? List: Bombshell Summer Edition" Pink Carpet Event in Los Angeles last night.

If you recall, Diane Kruger had the same idea (and first) back in February, when the actress wore the sparkling sensation to the "Unknown" premiere in Los Angeles.

While both leading ladies have the bods to pull off the barely-there dress (which has also been spotted on Kate Bosworth), I'm giving this one to Alessandra for her sexy shoe choice. She also owned her look, whereas Dianecame off looking somewhat timid.

Who looked better in Dolce & Gabbana?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:00pm GMT

This week was all about the 2011 Met Gala. And the winners are...

Dakota Fanning
in Valentino Resort. The young actress, who is known for wearing Valentino on the red carpet, looked like a fairytale come true in this tulle gown, which was blooming with floral apploques.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Topshop Unique. The "Something Borrowed" actress made a bold statement in this emerald green cutout gown, which she accessorized with turquoise-hinted jewelry, shoes and makeup.

Ashley Greene in Donna Karan. The "Twilight" star stole the spotlight in this sequin-covered gown, which featured a sweetheart neckline and a train for extra drama.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stella McCartney. Perhaps one of my biggest surprises of the night, the usually casual Maggie was the epitome of glamour in this sparkling, midnight-hued gown, which coasted along the actress's every curve.

Diane Kruger in Jason Wu. This gown (which was designed by one of Diane's favorite designers) struck the perfect balance between sophisticated and sexy. The intricate sequin detailing along its bodice and Diane's exposed leg were equally eye-catching.
