Best-Dressed at the 2012 Golden Globes

Posted by kgranero 7:34pm GMT

Celebs managed to stand out on the red carpet (despite wearing so much red!) in a variety of sleek and satin-y gowns at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards.

And the awards go to... Angelina Jolie (who exuded killer confidence in an Atelier Versace gown with a pop of red along the collarbone), Emma Stone (who looked like a Roman empress in a plunging, burgundy and ruby Lanvin gown cinched at the waist) and Salma Hayek(who proved a warrior princess in a gold-plated Gucci gown that concluded with countless, shimmer-clad pleats).

Reese Witherspoon (who looked red-hot in a corseted Zac Posen fishtail gown) and Natalie Portman (who ravished in a rosy, custom Lanvin creation in pink and red) were also among those sharing in the spotlight. (If you recall, she also opted for pink, though pastel, and red at last year's awards.)

Who was your best-dressed at the Golden Globes?

Style Showdown: Ahna O' Reill vs. Reese Witherspoon

Posted by kgranero 11:15am GMT

Reese Witherspoon nailed the cover of Marie Claire Australia's February 2012 issue, which raises two issues: 1) being that it has been dubbed a "Fashion Preview" on the cover and Reese is wearing a dress from the Fall 2010 collections and 2) being that this J. Mendel dress has been seen (in various forms) before.

Not only did actress Ahna O' Reill wear the exact same shiny sheath to "The Help" premiere in Beverly Hills last summer, but Malin Akerman (check her out here) wore a gown cut from the same fiery cloth at the "The Bang Bang Club" premiere in Sept. 2010.

While there's no denying Reese sizzled in this dress, I'm giving this one to Ahna for timeliness.

Who looked better in J. Mendel?

One Designer, Two Ways: Burberry

Posted by babu 3:18pm GMT

As soon as I saw this picture of Selena Gomez in her beige, leather-trimmed Burberry dress (left) at the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards, I was taken back to a Style Showdown featuring Li Bingbing and Reese Witherspoon wearing a peach and black version of the same style (from the Spring 2011 collection).

While I like both palettes, I love how the black leather really pops against the peach shade in the dress worn by Li and Reese. In the case of Selena's, the leather detailing gets lost in the ruffles.

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:52pm GMT

This week was all about looking like a lady. And the winners are...

Aimee Teegarden
in Pamella Roland at the "Prom" premiere in Los Angeles. The starlet looked beautiful in this heavily-beaded chiffon gown, which was just sweet enough without looking too immature.

Megan Fox in Juan Carlos Obando at Jaguar’s celebration to honor the 50th Anniversary of the E-Type. The usually revealing actress proved a class act in this pastel, tie-halter sheath, which she paired with ankle-strap peep-toes.

Zoe Saldana in Isabel Marant at the Coach Benefit for the Children’s Defense Fund. The frilly, flirty nature of this dress has "Zoe" written all over it. The feminine actress added some extra spunk to her look with ankle-strap shoes and a python clutch.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Rachel Roy at the signing of her new cookbook “My Father’s Daughter.” Gwyneth has been on a serious hot streak lately, and this curve-hugging, yellow satin sheath, paired with sexy gladiator heels, served up even more fuel to the fire.

Reese Witherspoon in Jason Wu at the “Water For Elephants” premiere in New York. Sweet meets sassy in this lace-covered cocktail dress, which Reese glammed up with jewels and sparkling sandals.

Which star's ladylike style is your fave?

Style Showdown: Li Bingbing vs. Reese Witherspoon

Posted by babu 3:09pm GMT

As soon as I came across photos of Chinese actress and singer Li Bingbing in her frilly, peach Burberry Prorsum dress, I recognized it as being the same one worn by Reese Witherspoon on her Glamour January 2011 cover.

While this isn't exactly comparing peaches to peaches (in Li's defense, Reese and her dress were privy to professional lighting and retouching), I love the way Reese's tousled tresses and chunky chain jewelry play into the leather-lined dress's "bad girl" nature, making for a sassy-meets-sweet look.

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards

Posted by babu 1:14pm GMT

Country crooners flocked to Las Vegas last night to attend the 2011 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.

Some of the night's most notable looks included those of Julianne Hough (who proved a pop of color in a tangerine Randi Rahm halter gown with allover floral embroidering and a sexy, exposed back), "Entertainer of the Year" winner Taylor Swift (who showed off her softer side in a pastel yellow Elie Saab gown with a lace overlay featuring intricate beading and chiffon, flower appliques along the neckline and hem) and Carrie Underwood (who looked vibrant in a violet-hued Jean Fares Couture gown with floral appliques along what appeared to be hidden pockets). While I loved the rich hue and girly details on Carrie's gown, I don't think the loose fit or style did anything for her athletic figure (especially in the chest area).

Reese Witherspoon wore a tulle and lace bandage-style sweetheart dress from Marchesa, which I loved but thought could have used a little more definition. Not surprisingly, Nicole Kidman opted for a snakeskin-leather L'Wren Scott bodice, which featured a built-in boa around the neck. While I didn't HATE her dress, I would've liked to have seen it paired with a more direct shoe, and not a dainty peep-toe.

Who was your best-dressed at the 2011 ACM Awards?

Reese Witherspoon for Glamour January 2011

Posted by babu 1:18pm GMT

All-American sweetheart Reese Witherspoon turns sexpot for Glamour's January 2011 issue, on the cover of which she models a sizzling melon-colored, ruffled Burberry Prorsum dress laced with leather, accessorized with a Shery Shabani for Fragmants chain necklace, Neil Lane bracelet and Fogal fishnets.

Inside the mag, Reese's tongue-in-cheek fashions continue, courtesy of designers like L’Wren Scott (velvet jacket left), Giles and Christian Louboutin (dress and shoes right), along with a bevy of luxe jewels from the likes of Shery Shabani for Fragmants, Swarovski and Janis by Janis Scott.

Style Showdown: Paris vs. Reese

Posted by babu 3:41pm GMT

Paris Hilton looked casual-chic in the White Zoe Bow Short Sleeve Swing V-Neck Tee from Lauren Moshi, leggings and flats while out and about in Paris last week.

Reese Witherspoon rocked the same tee with shorts, a cardigan and gladiator sandals while running errands in Brentwood, California back in March.

While the tee proved a great fit for both ladies, I like how you can see the sleeve detail in Paris' look, so I'm giving this one to her.

Who wore Lauren Moshi better?
