Best-Dressed at the 2012 Golden Globes

Posted by kgranero 7:34pm GMT

Celebs managed to stand out on the red carpet (despite wearing so much red!) in a variety of sleek and satin-y gowns at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards.

And the awards go to... Angelina Jolie (who exuded killer confidence in an Atelier Versace gown with a pop of red along the collarbone), Emma Stone (who looked like a Roman empress in a plunging, burgundy and ruby Lanvin gown cinched at the waist) and Salma Hayek(who proved a warrior princess in a gold-plated Gucci gown that concluded with countless, shimmer-clad pleats).

Reese Witherspoon (who looked red-hot in a corseted Zac Posen fishtail gown) and Natalie Portman (who ravished in a rosy, custom Lanvin creation in pink and red) were also among those sharing in the spotlight. (If you recall, she also opted for pink, though pastel, and red at last year's awards.)

Who was your best-dressed at the Golden Globes?

Style Showdown: Kourtney Kardashian vs. Natalie Portman

Posted by babu 2:34pm GMT

Kourtney Kardashian looked breezy in a beautifully-embroidered dress with beautiful embroidering along the neckline and sleeves while out and about in Studio City, California yesterday.

Natalie Portman wore the same sweet shift (from H&M's environmentally-friendly Conscious Collection) at the Vanity Fair Campaign Hollywood 2011 celebration right before the collection hit stores this past March.

While I appreciate the modesty of Natalie's version (if you look closely, it appears Kourtney's hem was taken up quite a bit), I like how Kourt added more depth to her look with edgy accessories, so this one's a toss-up for me.

Who looked sweeter in H&M?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 12:42pm GMT

This week was all about taking chances. And the winners are...

Emily Deschanel
in BCBG Max Azria at the 2011 Fox All-Star Party. Good girl meets bad girl in this lace and leather-trimmed dress, which happened to be my favorite from the event. I also like how Emily mized things up with square-toe pumps, which seem to be making a comeback for spring.

Natalie Portman in Vena Cava at the "No Strings Attached" premiere in Los Angeles. Not only did this gown succeed in concealing Natalie's baby bump, but the color blocking and cutout detail oozed boho chic.

Lake Bell in Basil Soda at the "No Strings Attached" premiere in Los Angeles. The actress stole the spotlight in this body-hugging bodice, which she topped off with a pair of nude, ankle-strap platforms.

Rachel McAdams
in Michael Kors at the "Morning Glory" premiere in Berlin. The actress looked like a Grecian goddess in this beautiful, breezy halter gown with black leather trimming.

Michelle Williams in Oscar de la Renta at the 2011 National Board of Review Awards Gala. Michelle has a penchant for retro (and often lacy) styles with a modern twist, so when it came to dressing for the awards gala, this dress was probably a no-brainer. She wrapped up her romantic style with a satin bow and platforms.

Which star's chancy style is your fave?

Red-Carpet Recap: "No Strings Attached" Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 2:14pm GMT

The "No Strings Attached" (a.k.a where did Lake Bell come from?!) premiere took place this week in Los Angeles.

The four celeb styles that dominated the red-carpet included those of lead actress Natalie Portman (who managed to conceal her baby bump in a boho, color-block Vena Cava gown), Demi Moore (who showed off her killer bod in a zippered Carven LBD), Rumer Willis (who pulled an Angelina Jolie in a flowy, solid black frock) and, of course, Lake Bell (who came out of nowhere to steal the style show in a curve-hugging, geometric Basil Soda bodice and ankle-strap platforms).

Which star's red-carpet style is red-hot?

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Posted by babu 3:08pm GMT

The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off last Thursday.

So far, some of my favorite styles to come out of the festival include those of Carey Mulligan (who looked ravishingly retro in an eggplant Prada tea dress with allover quilt-like detailing) and Natalie Portman (who ditched the status quo in a partially sheer, cream and navy Vionnet shift dress with gold sequin detailing along the collar).

Joining them were Amy Adams (in an asymmetrical, blue sheath that managed to completely flatten her chest), Helen Mirren (in a lavender, silk gown with allover floral detailing and black cardigan) and Rashida Jones (in a printed blouse and full skirt duo paired with zigzag, ankle-cuff platforms).

Style Showdown: Natalie Portman vs. Taylor Swift

Posted by babu 12:00pm GMT

Months before Taylor Swift swept across the People's Choice Awards carpet in her peachy, pleated J. Mendel creation, Natalie Portman was modeling the dress for the Vogue January 2011 cover.

While I love this gown on both ladies and, in all fairness, we can't see the bottom half of Natalie's look, I do like how the dress works with the "Black Swan" actress's natural, tawny palette as opposed to Taylor's poppy pout.

Who wore Winter Kate better?

Affordable Style Watch: Natalie Portman's Lanvin for H&M Dress

Posted by babu 1:59pm GMT

It appears Natalie Portman is the latest celeb to board the Lanvin for H&M train.

The actress looked polished to perfection in an asymmetrical, eggplant-colored dress from the collection to last night's 2010 Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York.

Snag this Lanvin for H&M dress, $199, in select H&M stores while supplies last.
