Worst Dressed at the 2012 SAG Awards

Posted by kgranero 2:49pm GMT

From bubble wrap to Batgirl, this year's SAG Awards was met with some serious missteps.

And the worst of the worst included Rose Byrne (who looked like she was about to parachute out of a plane Elvis-style in a sparkling Elie Saab jumper), Angelina Jolie (whose shiny Jenny Packham gown appeared more cheap than chic) and Zoe Saldana (who looked like she was wearing bubble wrap in Givenchy Haute Couture).

Also topping (or shall I say bottoming) the list were "Glee" star Heather Morris (who appeared to rocking a seat cover, designed by Masai Payan, from the Batmobile) and Busy Phillips (looking Woodstock-worthy in a BUSY boho dress).

Who was your worst dressed at the 2012 SAG Awards?

One Designer, Three Ways: Gucci

Posted by kgranero 2:00pm GMT

Whenever an event is presented by a specific designer (in this case Gucci), it isn't uncommon to see a few celeb attendees sporting styles from that designer, or even two celebs wearing the same dress, but for three to wear almost identical dresses from the same collection? That's a little much.

LACMA's Art and Film Gala Honoring Clint Eastwood and John Baldessari looked like a reenactment of Gucci's Spring 2012 show, with all three of Evan Rachel Wood, Zoe Saldana and Camilla Belle wearing fringed frocks from the designer's latest collection.

While I would've felt a little ridiculous wearing any of the styles given the circumstances (regardless of how fabulous they may be), Camilla's look proved my fave of the night.

Trend to Try: Key-Hole Cutouts

Posted by babu 2:26pm GMT

Move over, cleavage!

More and more celebs are foregoing plunging necklines and instead opting for dresses with sizzling, vertical slits.

Take a cue from Zoe Saldana, Maria Sharapova and Kerry Washington and test-drive the key-hole cutout trend for less with the Orange Split Neck Halter Dress, $76, topshop.com.

One Designer, Two Ways: Dolce & Gabbana

Posted by babu 4:15pm GMT

Stylist and fashion astrologer Annie Ladino recently wore a leopard and lace Dolce & Gabbana maxi from the Spring 2011 collection to the Toast to Annie Ladino event in New York.

If you recall, Zoe Saldana wore a full-skirted mini dress from the same collection to the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards back in February.

When it comes to fierce prints (and fancy details), I tend to believe less is more. I also like how the structured fit of Zoe's style served to tame her look, so I'm giving this one to her.

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:52pm GMT

This week was all about looking like a lady. And the winners are...

Aimee Teegarden
in Pamella Roland at the "Prom" premiere in Los Angeles. The starlet looked beautiful in this heavily-beaded chiffon gown, which was just sweet enough without looking too immature.

Megan Fox in Juan Carlos Obando at Jaguar’s celebration to honor the 50th Anniversary of the E-Type. The usually revealing actress proved a class act in this pastel, tie-halter sheath, which she paired with ankle-strap peep-toes.

Zoe Saldana in Isabel Marant at the Coach Benefit for the Children’s Defense Fund. The frilly, flirty nature of this dress has "Zoe" written all over it. The feminine actress added some extra spunk to her look with ankle-strap shoes and a python clutch.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Rachel Roy at the signing of her new cookbook “My Father’s Daughter.” Gwyneth has been on a serious hot streak lately, and this curve-hugging, yellow satin sheath, paired with sexy gladiator heels, served up even more fuel to the fire.

Reese Witherspoon in Jason Wu at the “Water For Elephants” premiere in New York. Sweet meets sassy in this lace-covered cocktail dress, which Reese glammed up with jewels and sparkling sandals.

Which star's ladylike style is your fave?

Style Showdown: Paris Hilton vs. Zoe Saldana

Posted by babu 3:43pm GMT

Well, well, well. Look who finally cleaned up her act!

A much more refined version of the Paris Hilton we all love to hate showed up to the 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last night, to which she wore a conservative, multi-print cocktail dress from the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2010 collection.

I instantly recognized the dress as being previously worn by one of my personal style crushes, Zoe Saldana, to the amfAR New York Gala back in February.

While I hate to admit it, Paris (who sassed up her look with black tights) definitely gave Zoe a run for her money. I'm going to have to call this one a tie.

Style Showdown: Claudia vs. Zoe

Posted by babu 3:43pm GMT

Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte attended the 17th Annual Multishow Brazilian Music Awards in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last night wearing a multi-patterned dress from the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 collection.

If the cheeky creation looks familiar, it's because actress Zoe Saldana was spotted wearing it back in March.

While I like the dress on both ladies, Zoe's nude pumps and brocade jacket lend to a much cleaner look. Her shorter hem also helps to keep the dress's busy print in check, so I'm giving this one to her.

Trend to Try: Tweed Jackets

Posted by babu 4:47pm GMT

One of the items at the top of my fall shopping list is a tweed jacket.

Whether worn with menswear pants or shorts or your favorite skinny jeans la Zoe Saldana, throwing on a tweed jacket is one of the easiest ways to dress up a casual look for day or evening.

For an affordable and versatile style, I like the Embellished Button-Front Tweed Jacket, on sale now for $77.40, express.com.

Style Showdown: Olivia vs. Zoe

Posted by babu 12:25pm GMT

Olivia Palermo
was polished to perfection in a beautiful embroidered-lace dress from the Valentino Spring 2010 collection at the designer's Fall 2010 presentation in Paris yesterday.

If you recall, Zoe Saldana was the first to be spotted in the flirty little number at the Third Annual Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon back in March.

I may be a little biased on this one (Olivia and Zoe both happen to be huge style crushes of mine!), but I think both ladies (who happen to have similar, sophisticated-with-a-hint-of-girly styles) looked adorable in this dress. I'm going to have to declare this one an even draw.

Who wore Valentino better?
