Style Showdown: Beyonce Knowles vs. Leighton Meester

Posted by kgranero 7:55pm GMT

Beyonce tapped into the femme fatale trend in a leather-equipped Michael Kors gown at the Tory Burch Madison Avenue Flagship Opening in New York yesterday.

If you recall, Leighton Meester was the first to don the cutout creation at “The Roommate” screening in West Hollywood back in January.

While the gown looks a little snug on Beyonce, I think it better fits her powerful personality, so I'm giving this one to her.

Who made this Michael Kors gown work? Weigh in below! (Plus, find more celebrities wearing leather.)

Style Showdown: Leighton Meester vs. Teresa Palmer

Posted by babu 5:58pm GMT

Leighton Meester looked fresh (squeezed, that is) in an orange and lemon-covered Stella McCartney skirt, yellow blouse and tangerine bag and shoesyesterday while on location for "Gossip Girl."

If you recall, actress Teresa Palmer took a less-than-sunny approach to styling the citrusy sensation (she paired it with a black, long-sleeve top and rugged booties) for an "I Am Number Four" photocall in Madrid back in March.

This is more like comparing apples to oranges than oranges to oranges (a.k.a fab to drab), so I'm giving this one to Leighton.

Who wore Stella McCartney better?

Can't Live Without My: Celine Boston Bag

Posted by babu 5:34pm GMT

From classic solids and two-tones to bold hues and prints, fashion-forward celebs like Leighton Meester (shown here on the "Gossip Girl" set), Kourtney Kardashian, Claudia Schiffer and Nicole Richie (the list goes on!) are obsessed with the Celine Boston Bag.

My personal favorite style has to be the leopard-print, which Kourtney has been proudly toting all over New York lately.

Style Steal: Leighton Meester's Marc Jacobs Dress

Posted by babu 10:52am GMT

Leighton Meester was the epitome of spring in this breezy flower applique dress from the Marc Jacobs Resort 2011 collection at the V Magazine New York Issue Celebration in September.

Get the look with the similarly two-toned and daisy-covered Singing the Blooms Dress, $114.99, modcloth.com.

Dare to Wear: Leighton Meester

Posted by babu 12:19pm GMT

Hit-or-miss queen Leighton Meester let me down once again in this flyaway Proenza Schouler dress, worn to NYLON's February issue celeberation (she's Nylon's Feb. cover girl).

While I love the coral shade and almost thumbprint-like pattern along the skirt of this dress, I just can't seem to get past the unflattering, chiffon overlay. I would've also liked to see the "Gossip Girl" star play up the dress's bright shade with an equally punchy palette (I don't think the semi-smoky eye works here).

Would you dare to wear this look?

Upgrade: Leighton Meester Looks Better in Black

Posted by babu 12:52pm GMT

While I wasn't a HUGE fan of Leighton Meester's Burberry Prorsum gown at this year's Golden Globes, I was pleasantly surprised to see her in this black Michael Kors Resort 2011 gown with cutout detailing at "The Roommate" premiere in Los Angeles.

While the leather bodice is right on cue with the star's recent good-girl-gone-bad red carpet transformation, the gown's flowy, jersey skirt serves to soften the look.

Is this star's recent look an "upgrade" or a "downgrade" from her last one?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 3:28pm GMT

This week was all about taking risks. And the winners are...

Angelina Jolie
in Atelier Versace at "The Tourist" premiere in New York. This creamy, angora gown proved a refreshing alternative to the actress's usually dark and drapey red-carpet wardrobe.

Leighton Meester in Christian Dior at the "Country Strong" premiere in Los Angeles. I came across the picture of Leighton in this flirty, floral dress and neon wedges and, just for a moment, I was able to escape from reality (that being that it's 34 degrees here in New York). Ahhh!

Katie Cassidy in Edition by Georges Chakra at the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards. The "90210" actress has a penchant for classic styles with an old Hollywood glam vibe and this gown, which features beautiful lace paneling throughout, is no exception.

Jessica Alba
in Valentino at the "Little Fockers" premiere in Los Angeles. Between its winter-white shade and allover fringe and bow detailing, this dress (from the designer's Fall 2010 Couture collection) has Palm Beach Christmas written all over it. The actress wraps up her frosty frock with gold Christian Louboutin sandals.

Olivia Wilde
in Emilio Pucci at the "Tron: Legacy" premiere in Los Angeles. Beautiful, allover ombre gold sequins and a sharp cutout allowing some cleavage made this gladiator-glam gown.

Which star's risky red-carpet look is your fave?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 1:42pm GMT

This week was all about fancy necklines. And the winners are...

Kim Kardashian
in a Grecian-goddess inspired gown at the 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. The beautifully-beaded bib collar makes this gown, which also features elegant draping along the bodice and skirt.

Leighton Meester
in Prabal Gurung at the 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. Leighton's red carpet style tends to be hit or miss, so I was pleasantly surprised when she choose this heavily-embellished, tiered and draped dress. Surprisingly, I also like her playful shoe pairing. Overall, her look reads daring without verging harsh.

Rose McGowan in Issa at the 2010 MOCA Gala. Rose proves nothing short of a temptress in this teal, silk jersey gown. I also love her choice of colorful, aquatone jewels. They really make her look pop.

Natalie Portman in Lanvin at the Second Annual Governors Awards. Natalie's looks always manage to straddle the fine line between playful and poised, and this asymmetrical, magenta Lanvin creation, which boasts a large, pom-pom rosette on the one shoulder, is no exception. The actress keeps the fin going with matching T-strap platforms in the same shade.

Kate Bosworth in Chanel at the 2010 MOCA Gala. Kate looks poised to perfection in the black Chanel gown, which features a sheer, floral-print inset along the waist. The actress keeps her makeup and hair fuss-free to correlate with her ensemble.

Which star's red-carpet style is fanciest?

Dare to Wear: Leighton Meester

Posted by babu 12:45pm GMT

Leighton Meester
recently took the plunge in a lacy Marchesa jumper at the Harry Winston Court Of Jewels Recreation Launch in New York.

While I might have liked the style in minidress form, I can't help but think the MC Hammer (aka harem) pant legs, and lace heels, AND disco ball bag were a little too hot (or not) to handle.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Red-Carpet Recap: 7th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

Posted by babu 4:32pm GMT

Call it a fashionista's playground; one can always can count on the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards for fresh faces and fearless fashions.

This year, some of my top looks included those of Kim Kardashian (who kept her Greek goddess streak going in a draped Zac Posen gown with heavy beading along the scooped neckline), Carey Mulligan (who was having a magic moment in a rich-colored, sequined Chanel sheath with matching jacket) and Blake Lively (who oozed sex appeal in a jersey and sheer Chanel LBD with beautiful embroidering from the torso down and burgundy pumps).

Also on my "IT" list were Anna Paquin (who kept people guessing in a multicolored Richard Chai sheath) and Leighton Meester (who looked funky-fresh in a heavily embellished and tiered Prabal Gurung dress).

Which celeb's fashion-forward look is your fave?
