Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 VH1 Do Something Awards

Posted by babu 4:54pm GMT

Bold and bright was the name of the game at this year's VH1 Do Something Awards.

Standout styles included those of Rose McGowan (who followed the lead of celebs like Zoe Saldana and Jessica Alba and sported a starry number from the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 collection, paired with bright red platforms), Brittany Snow (who prowled down the carpet in a leopard Camilla and Marc skater dress and ochre Mary Janes) and Kerry Washington (who showed off her flawless figure in an asymmetrical Zuhair Murad bodice with sheer overlay and lace booties).

Victoria Justice
(who looked red hot in a ruffled mini and leopard, ankle-strap platforms) and Olivia Wilde (who test-drove the key-hole trend in a cutout Chloe Resort dress with allover pleating) were also among the evening's head turners.

Which star's bold style is most beautiful?

Dare to Wear: Rose McGowan

Posted by babu 4:05pm GMT

Has Rose McGowan lost her spark?

While the actress (who was once engaged to controversial singer Marilyn Manson) typically opts for the sparkly (and oh so saucy), she kept things almost painstakingly casual in a jean dress and ankle boots at the 5th Annual Comic-Con Celebration in San Diego.

While there's no denying denim has a made a huge comeback over the last year, making it big time this past spring, I still haven't developed a taste for full-on denim styles, this one being no exception.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:50pm GMT

This week was all about showing off your shoulders. And the winners are...

Selita Ebanks in a lipstick-red draped gown at the New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance. Selita oozed sex appeal in this toga-style sensation, which she accessorized with equally bold pumps and a leopard clutch.

Lake Bell
in Michael Kors at Good Housekeeping's Shine On event. Miss Bell is quite possibly in the best shape of her life right now, and lately, she's seizing every opportunity to prove it. She showed just enough skin in this asymmetrical LBD, which she topped off with green silk peep-toe platforms.

Camilla Belle
in Alberta Ferretti at Good Housekeeping's Shine On event. The quintessentially girly actress came across as fresh (and flirty) in this melon-hued, sparkle-sprinkled dress, which she accessorized with ankle-strap pumps.

Rose McGowan in Dolce & Gabbana at the New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance. The actress continued her red-carpet color kick in this marigold gown, which culminated in a soft fishtail.

Elizabeth Hurley in J. Mendel at the 2011 Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Hot Pink Party. Always the glamour girl, the breast cancer advocate radiated from head to toe in this iridescent, blush gown, which she topped off with chandelier earrings and a matching lip.

Which star's shoulder-baring style is your fave?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 1:42pm GMT

This week was all about fancy necklines. And the winners are...

Kim Kardashian
in a Grecian-goddess inspired gown at the 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. The beautifully-beaded bib collar makes this gown, which also features elegant draping along the bodice and skirt.

Leighton Meester
in Prabal Gurung at the 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. Leighton's red carpet style tends to be hit or miss, so I was pleasantly surprised when she choose this heavily-embellished, tiered and draped dress. Surprisingly, I also like her playful shoe pairing. Overall, her look reads daring without verging harsh.

Rose McGowan in Issa at the 2010 MOCA Gala. Rose proves nothing short of a temptress in this teal, silk jersey gown. I also love her choice of colorful, aquatone jewels. They really make her look pop.

Natalie Portman in Lanvin at the Second Annual Governors Awards. Natalie's looks always manage to straddle the fine line between playful and poised, and this asymmetrical, magenta Lanvin creation, which boasts a large, pom-pom rosette on the one shoulder, is no exception. The actress keeps the fin going with matching T-strap platforms in the same shade.

Kate Bosworth in Chanel at the 2010 MOCA Gala. Kate looks poised to perfection in the black Chanel gown, which features a sheer, floral-print inset along the waist. The actress keeps her makeup and hair fuss-free to correlate with her ensemble.

Which star's red-carpet style is fanciest?

Red-Carpet Recap: 2010 MOCA Gala

Posted by babu 2:27pm GMT

Subtle (okay, maybe not SO subtle) seduction was the name of the game at the 2010 MOCA Gala.

Some of my favorite looks included those of Kate Bosworth (who looked classic in a black chiffon Chanel gown with floral detailing), Kirsten Dunst (who radiated a soft elegance in a cream, multi-tiered chiffon Chanel gown and contrasting black clutch) and Rose McGowan (who proved quite the temptress in a teal Issa gown that plunged in front).

Runners-up included Chloe Sevigny (who broke the mold in a cream and black Chanel menswear number complete with suspenders) and Kristin Davis (who looked fit for the cha-cha in a red taffeta Oscar de la Renta dress).

Which celeb's sexy gala style is your fave?

Dare to Wear: Rose McGowan

Posted by babu 4:43pm GMT

Actress Rose McGowan rocked a bow-clad asymmetrical top and black mini skirt to the 2009 MAD Paperball Gala in New York City.

Though I'm not exactly smitten with the ensemble (I'd prefer to see this top in dress form), I'll be the first to admit her style has come a long way since her days as Marilyn Manson's girlfriend.

Would you dare to wear this look?
