This Week's Fab Five

Posted by kgranero 3:55pm GMT

This week was all about sheers and serious shimmer. And the winners are...

Claire Danes in Oscar de la Renta at the 2011 Emmy Awards. While Claire usually opts for more casual (read: flat) red-carpet fare, she looked fierce in this mosaic, sequin-paneled gown.

Liv Tyler in Stella McCartney at the 2011 New York City Ballet Fall Gala. The actress looked breathtaking in this burlesque-inspired gown, which featured intricate embroidering along the bodice.

Kerry Washington in Zuhair Murad at the 2011 Emmy Awards. The always-polished actress looked red-hot in this sweetheart gown, which boasted a partially sheer skirt and beautiful bugle beading throughout.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry at the Moet & Chandon Etoile Award Gala Ceremony. Rosie proved you can still wear white after Labor Day, as long as you wear it well, in this charming gown complete with sheer, blouson sleeves and a deep-plunge neckline (which has really made a comeback on the red carpet as of late).

Evan Rachel Wood in Elie Saab at the 2011 Emmy Awards. Sculpted shoulders and allover sequins added a mod touch to this otherwise retro gown, which the actress accessorized with a metallic silver clutch.

This week was all about letting personalities shine. And the winners are...

Blake Lively
in Gucci Resort at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. Summer-meets-fall in this tangerine-hued, leather sheath, which the "Gossip Girl" actress accessorized with turquoise jewelry and leopard pumps.

Taylor Swift in Rafael Cennamo at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. The singing sensation pulled a "Marilyn Monroe" in this full-skirted cocktail dress with beautiful beading along the waistline. She completed her look with bowed peep-toes.

Diane Kruger
in Jason Wu Resort at the 10th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree. As usual, the actress pushed the envelope in this tuxedo short ensemble, which she lightened up with a colorful bag and shoe.

Kaley Cuoco in Rebecca Taylor at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. This multi-tiered and pleated dress looks like something from the "SATC2" set. Maybe that's because it looks similar to one of Carrie Bradshaw's Halston Heritage numbers. Either way, it oozes luxury vacation.

Jordana Brewster
in Oscar de la Renta at the 10th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree. Jordana struck the perfect balance between sexy and sweet in this pleated and ruched dress. While I love her retro shoe pairing, I wish she would have opted for a different colored clutch (too matchy-matchy).

This week was all about keeping it simple (and sexy). And the winners are...

Kristen Bell in Versus at the CBS, The CW and Showtime TCA Party in Beverly Hills. Kristen has a penchant for the prim and proper, so it's refreshing when she takes red-carpet risks like she did here. I only wish she'd rounded out her look with a colorful shoe.

Olivia Wilde in Antonio Berardi at “The Change-Up” premiere in Los Angeles. The 20-something starlet looked red-hot in this structured sheath, which hit just below the knee and featured shoulder padding for more definition.

Dianna Agron in Stella McCartney while visiting the "Late Show with David Letterman." The sheer paneling along the neckline and sides serves as a sexy frame for this otherwise modest LBD.

Leslie Mann in Marchesa at “The Change-Up” premiere in Los Angeles. Beautiful embellishing along the collar, shoulders and waistline proved the bread and butter of this dress. As in the case of Kristen (and, to be honest, Olivia), I only wish she'd chosen a different shoe (maybe something nude or metallic instead of putty).

Sandra Bullock
in Lanvin at “The Change-Up” premiere in Los Angeles. While a tad on the casual side, this strapless jumpsuit served to accentuate Sandra's sexy silhouette. She finished off her look with sleek sandals.

Which star's simplistic style is most sensational?

This week was all about sleek sheaths and power pleats. And the winners are...

Ana de la Reguera in Gucci at the "Cowboys & Aliens" World Premiere in San Diego. The actress looked gorgeous in this romantic gown which, for me, gives off a "Gone With the Wind" vibe. It has also been worn by Beyonce.

Kelly Rowland in Cushnie Et Ochs at the "Here I Am" Album Launch Party. This cutout dress served as the perfect display case for Kelly's rockin' bod. I only wish she'd opted for a different, and less noisy, pair of shoes.

Olivia Palermo
in DKNY at the DKNY Sun Soiree. The blocks of color and allover pleats really play well together in this dress. I also like how Olivia didn't shy away from bold accessories when it came to completing her look.

Heidi Klum
in Yves Saint Laurent for an appearance on "Good Morning America." The "Project Runway" host looked nothing short of fierce in this frisky, feline-print sheath, which she drove home with a belt and ankle-streep peep-toes.

Olivia Wilde
in Dolce & Gabbana at the "Cowboys & Aliens" World Premiere in San Diego. Miss Wilde oozed romance in this old-fashioned, lace-covered gown.

This week was all about looking like a lady. And the winners are...

Jessica Alba in Dolce & Gabbana at the Lucky Magazine and ThisNext Celebration. The second-time-mom-to-be struck the perfect balance between soft and sexy in this feline-friendly frock.

Emmanuelle Chriqui in Julien Macdonald at the “Entourage” Season Eight Premiere. Emmanuelle proved she can still turn heads without showing a lot of skin in this breezy gown, which featured a black, sequined halter neckline.

Emma Stone in Tom Ford at the "Crazy, Stupid Love" World Premiere.Emmahas a real talent for choosing sophisticated styles with a youthful touch. She hit it right on the mark in this lace-overlay tulip dress. She brought her look home with a burgundy "Mad Men" lip.

Mila Kunis in Lanvin at the "Friends With Benefits" New York Premiere. The film's leading looked red-hot in this simplistic, yet sensational, off-the-shoulder sheath, which featured ruching in all the right places.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Chloeat the“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”Japan Premiere. When it comes to the red carpet, Rosieis one of those actresses/models that cando no wrong in my eyes. Sheoozed femininity and grace in this silk gown, which revealed just enough skin to still remainclassy.

This week was all about dreamy drapery. And the winners are...

Emma Watson in Bottega Veneta at the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" premiere in New York. Emma has been pulling out all the stops in celebration of the film's series finale, and this corseted creation is no exception.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in Alexander McQueen at the 2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event. As usual, the Duchess looked simply sensational in this pleated, chiffon gown, which she accessorized with a metallic clutch.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta at the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" premiere in New York. The "SATC" star showed off her artistic side in this brush-painted gown, topping off her look with a menswear blazer and turquoise earrings.

Blake Lively in Marchesa at the2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event. The "Gossip Girl," who usually has a penchant for the low-cut and leggy, enchanted onlookers in this romantic, chiffon gown, which featured beautiful embroidering along the neckline, sleeves and hem.

Jennifer Garner in YSL at the2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event.I'm hereby declaring sapphire as Jennifer's "IT" color because, every time she wears it, she receives a standing ovation. This asymmetrical gown, while loose-fitting, managed to hug the actress in all the right places.

Which leading lady's drapey style is dreamiest?

This week was all about the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" premiere. And the winners are...

J. K Rowling in Oscar de la Renta. The author of the "Harry Potter" series looked like a garden come to life in this scenic sensation.

Clemence Poesy in Nina Ricci. I love how the actress reigned in this otherwise full, ruffled dress, which the actress topped off with peep-toe platforms.

Emma Watson in Oscar de la Renta. The "Harry Potter" actress worked her magic in this Cinderella-blue, multi-tiered gown, complete with a beautifully beaded bodice and anillusionary neckline.

Mollie King in Julien Macdonald. The Saturdays singer tapped into the short-skirt-long-train trend with this ethereal, floral gown. My only complaint is that she didn't fill inthe plunging necklinewith a long neckline (okay, I wish she'd chosen different shoes, too).

Bonnie Wright in Miu Miu.The romantic roundup concluded with Bonnie's ruffled blouse and rose-colored, silk skirt combo, which shetopped offwith gold drop earrings.

Who was your best-dressed at the "Harry Potter" premiere?

This week was all about creative necklines and killer curves. And the winners are...

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Gucci at the 2011 Moscow International Film Festival. Rose has been cranking out onebreathtaking red-carpet look after another lately, her latest being no exception. I love how theoversized rosette on this gown is so elaborate that it almost manages to steal attention from the partially sheer skirt.

Diane Kruger in YSL at the amfAR Inspiration Gala.Miss Kruger looked like a Grecian goddess in this plunging, red gown gathered at the waist. A bright red lip and a top-knot tied up her simple, yet sensational, style. My only concern is that it doesn't look like she was wearing a bra.

Kate Winslet in Victoria Beckham at the YO DONA Magazine International Awards. The actress was the epitomeof class and grace in this structured-shoulder gown, whichfeatured edgy, chain-like embellishing along the waist.

Eva Mendes in Thierry Mugler at the Angel by Thierry Mugler Campaign Launch. The cutout-sweetheart neckline makes this white gown, which the actress (and face of the fragrance) glammed up witha bevy of jewels.

Liv Tyler in Stella McCartneyat“The Ledge” screening in New York. The actress took a milder approach to the color-blocking trend inthis bold, two-toned dress, which she accessorized with a black clutch and Christian Louboutin pumps.

This week was all about breezy hues and lacy details. And the winners are...

Blake Lively in Chanel at the "Green Lantern" premiere in Los Angeles. Blake is having a serious Chanel moment and, while the partially-sheer skirting on this gown took a little getting used to, the allover floral applique detailing is to die for.

Diane Kruger in Alessandra Rich at the 'Liaisons Au Louvre II Charity' Gala Dinner. Diane has a penchant for traditional styles with modern twists (a la Jason Wu), so it comes to no surprise that she chose this sassy-meets-sweet belt and gown pairing.

Eva Longoria in Monique Lhuillier at the 2011 Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund Awards. Eva (like Demi Moore andAngelina Jolie) has a tendency to wear black on the red carpet, so it's refreshingwhenever she opts for color. This seafoam-hued dress is both feminine and sophisticated. I only wishshe'daccessorizedwith amatte shoe.

Olivia Wilde in Yigal Azrouel Resort at the 10th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Olivia exuded elegance in this patterned chiffon gown, which featured jewel detailing along the waist and sheer sleeves.

Heidi Klum in Michael Kors at theSecond Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala. The "Project Runway" judge showed off her flawless figure in this slinky, electric-blue gown, which she accessorized with strappy nude sandals.
