D&G Lines Up for the Last Time

Posted by kgranero 2:13pm GMT

D&G (Italian label Dolce & Gabbana's younger, and often splashier, line, which also encompasses watches and fragrance) piled on the paisley prints for what is now being referred to as its last show.

According the several sources (including WWD), the brand announced the pending discontinuation following this morning's Spring-Summer 2012 RTW presentation in Milan.

Will you miss D&G?

MBFW S/S2011 Has Officially Arrived!

Posted by babu 10:56am GMT

That's right.

After months of anticipation, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S2011 officially kicked off this morning with a speech by mayor Michael Bloomberg and the temporary renaming of the No. 1 subway line to "The Fashion Line."

With one and a half shows underway (those being Nicholas K and "Project Runway," the latter of which apparently claiming half of my office), the eight-day event will take place at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park after years of living and breathing at Bryant Park and will feature the Spring/Summer 2011 collections of veterans like Diane von Furstenberg (shown above), Vera Wang and Donna Karan and newcomers alike.

Find more information, and view the complete show schedule, for MBFW S/S2011 on mbfashionweek.com, and check back tomorrow for a breakdown of some of the Fashion's Night Out events that you can't afford to miss!

Exclusive MBFW Scoop: Pete Wentz Is Crazy for Cool Tees

Posted by babu 3:56pm GMT

Earlier this week, Clandestine Industries founder and are-they/aren’t-they genre-defining pop band “Fall Out Boy” member Pete Wentz promised via his Twitter account (@petewentz) that his Style 360-sponsored Fall 2010 unisex clothing line debut would be a break from the usual: "This isnt gonna be a show. expect some drinks and some loud music. and maybe a familiar model or two," he said.

He made good at Stage 37, a warehouse venue tucked away at Bryant Park, perfect for a combination of Wentz’ music and fashion roots, in one spellbinding performance.

While the red carpet was decidedly C-list, a fedora-clad Ashlee Simpson-Wentz looked on as models debuted a line of clever T-shirts and youthful rock frocks that are certain to be a hit with both the pop-punk audience of Wentz devotees, and fashionistas looking for a fresh new take on everyday streetwear.

Standout looks included an unexpected foray into the little red dress and a charming hoodie homage to the acid-washed look of the 1980s (both pictured below).

Appropriately, the runway extravaganza finished with a medley tribute to Michael Jackson by Bad Rabbits, the Boston hip-hop fusion band that provided the live soundtrack for the runway, at which point Wentz– wearing a strait jacket and hockey mask– was wheeled out on a furniture dolly.

If this is what the designer meant by “not a show”, we’re curious to see what he would’ve done had he actually tried.

Can't Live Without My: Bowed Headbands

Posted by babu 12:34pm GMT

Kelly Osbourne's Fashion Week must-have? Bow ties.

The singer has been spotted all over the runway show circuit wearing humongous, Lady Gaga-esque bow headbands with details ranging from itsy-bitsy sequins to a jumbo jewel (one even comes complete with cat ears).

Adding to the list of Kelly's Lady Gaga-isms are her tendency to let her bra hang out, bleach blonde hair, extensive glove collection and cotton candy-colored lipstick.

I rest my case.

Dare to Wear: JWoWW

Posted by babu 12:12pm GMT

Is Jenni Farley, aka JWoWW, trying to bring fist pumping to Fashion Week?!

The notorious "Jersey Shore" alum rolled into the Bebe show (which previewed the Bebe Kardashian Fall 2010 collaboration) at Style360 looking like she'd just been let out of a nightclub, complete with one of her signature low-cut tunics and shimmery nude tights (ouch).

According to JWoWW's official website, the reality TV star is personally pursuing fashion with her own line of "edgy" and "sexy" clothes, which currently consists of her signature boob-tube shirt (as seen on "Jersey Shore") in six colors. Apparently, the yellow one is where it's at...

Would you dare to wear this look?

Dare to Wear: Annalynne McCord

Posted by babu 12:50pm GMT

To no surprise, Annalynne McCord's recent Fashion Week style can only be described as dizzying.

As if the psychedelic pattern and allover sequins on her dress weren't enough to attract Hollywood Boulevard-worthy attention, the "90210" actress went as far as to pair her "Pretty Woman" meets "Austin Powers" number with glitter covered platforms, leaving me with only one question: WHY?!

Would you dare to wear this look?
