This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:52pm GMT

This week was all about looking like a lady. And the winners are...

Aimee Teegarden
in Pamella Roland at the "Prom" premiere in Los Angeles. The starlet looked beautiful in this heavily-beaded chiffon gown, which was just sweet enough without looking too immature.

Megan Fox in Juan Carlos Obando at Jaguar’s celebration to honor the 50th Anniversary of the E-Type. The usually revealing actress proved a class act in this pastel, tie-halter sheath, which she paired with ankle-strap peep-toes.

Zoe Saldana in Isabel Marant at the Coach Benefit for the Children’s Defense Fund. The frilly, flirty nature of this dress has "Zoe" written all over it. The feminine actress added some extra spunk to her look with ankle-strap shoes and a python clutch.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Rachel Roy at the signing of her new cookbook “My Father’s Daughter.” Gwyneth has been on a serious hot streak lately, and this curve-hugging, yellow satin sheath, paired with sexy gladiator heels, served up even more fuel to the fire.

Reese Witherspoon in Jason Wu at the “Water For Elephants” premiere in New York. Sweet meets sassy in this lace-covered cocktail dress, which Reese glammed up with jewels and sparkling sandals.

Ombre Gowns: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 1:13pm GMT

And now...for the fading trend that just won't fade...

While Julia Stiles (shown in Monique Lhuillier at the SAG Awards) appears to be the latest celeb to have fallen for the ombre trend, she's certainly not the first.

Queen Latifah (shown in Edition by Georges Chakra at the Golden Globes) and Gwyneth Paltrow (in at) are just two more of the many celebs who've been spotted in ombre gowns as of late.

While there's no doubt these celebs look gorgeous, I've never met a dip-dyed item (with the exception of Easter eggs) that I just had to have. Have you?

What's your take on ombre gowns?

Dare to Wear: Gwyneth Paltrow

Posted by babu 1:14pm GMT

Apparently, Gwyneth Paltrow saw the "Country Strong" premiere in Los Angeles as the perfect opportunity to show of the fruits of her vigorous gym labor.

While the actress's long, white Emilio Pucci gown (from the Spring 2011 collection) appeared simple, and even conservative, from the front, a lace-up slit riding all the way to her bust and an open back told a completely different story.

I just hope the edgy ensemble came complete with a full-body wax.

Would you dare to wear this look?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 12:51pm GMT

This week was all about sex appeal. And the winners are...

Gwyneth Paltrow
in Atelier Versace at the 2010 CMA Awards. I dare say it, but I don't think I've ever seen Gwyneth look this SEXY! High glamour meets guts in this gown, which features a beautifully-ruched, asymmetrical neckline and allover shimmer and daring cutouts along the ribcage and leg.

Fergie in Zac Posen at the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. I think this is the first time I've seen Fergie, who usually switches back and forth between megawatt metallics and pearly pastels (oh yeah, and of course BLACK) wear fire engine red, but now that I've seen how well she pulls it off, I hope she starts wearing it more often. She topped off her fiery feat with no other than flame-cutout platforms.

Kate Hudson
in Lanvin at the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. I don't know if it's her blonde hair or radiant complexion, but I just LOVE when Kate goes for the gold. In this asymmetrical gown, which featured allover shimmer and an exposed zipper down the side, and gold platforms the actress reminds me of an Emmy Award come to life.

Camilla Belle in Carolina Herrera at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards. It's refreshing moments like these that bring me to seriously question whether it's possible for Camilla to have a bad day on the red carpet. The actress keeps her accessories to a minimum as to not compete with the gardenesque gown, which fits Camilla's tongue-in-cheek style to a T.

Jennifer Lopez in Andrew Gn at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards. If this gown, which boasts a sexy keyhole in front, isn't a perfect J.Lo make, I don't know what is. The revealing bodice is countered with a conservative neckline and long sleeves, making for a sassy, yet still sophisticated, overall feel. I also love how the sequins meet their match in the heavily-embellished belt.

Red-Carpet Recap: 2010 CMA Awards

Posted by babu 12:52pm GMT

For this year's CMA Awards, Hollywood's country crooners and biggest celeb fans forewent the big and bedazzled for sleek and sheen.

Some of my favorite looks included those of Gwyneth Paltrow (who scored my best-dressed spot with ease in an asymmetrical, ombre gown with sexy cutouts and allover sparkle from the Atelier Versace Fall 2010 collection), Taylor Swift (who proved she's all grown up in a sweetheart Monique Lhuillier gown ruched to the one side and topped off with a sexy slit) and Carrie Underwood (who was ruffled to perfection in a steel-grey, tulle gown with rosette detailing from Talbot Runhof).

While Miranda Lambert (in a ruched, off-the-shoulder number) and Katherine Heigl (in a strapless, sapphire gown from Farah Angsana) certainly proved competition, their looks fell short when it came to the wow-factor of the others.

Red-Carpet Recap: ELLE's 17th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute

Posted by babu 12:41pm GMT

Sexy shimmer and monochromatic melons (much in thanks to designer Calvin Klein) took over the red carpet at ELLE's 17th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute.

Some of my favorite looks included those of Hilary Swank (glowing in a gold Calvin Klein bustier dress), Kate Hudson (looking classy in a Prabal Gurung sheath with floral appliques along the shoulder) and Kerry Washington (keeping her palette neutral in a strapless, beige bodice and nude platforms).

Topping my "IT list" were Gwyneth Paltrow and Diane Kruger, who were similarly styled in citrus-hued sheaths (one tangerine, one more like watermelon) and nude sandals (all from Calvin Klein).

Which star's tribute style was most tantalizing?

One of the items at the top of my fall shopping list is a tweed jacket.

Whether worn with menswear pants or shorts or your favorite skinny jeans la Zoe Saldana, throwing on a tweed jacket is one of the easiest ways to dress up a casual look for day or evening.

For an affordable and versatile style, I like the Embellished Button-Front Tweed Jacket, on sale now for $77.40, express.com.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:15pm GMT

This week was all about Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture F/W 2011. And the winners are...

Olivia Palermo
in Valentino. The black and white watercolor print on this chiffon gown is classic. It gets bonus points for the oversized bow.

Jessica Alba
wearing Valentino. Between the rich, red color and layered ruffles along the neckline and side, this gown exudes romance.

Gwyneth Paltrow rocking Valentino. Netting along the collarbone adds an edgy touch to this otherwise soft, champagne gown.

Claire Danes in Valentino Couture. The neon yellow ruffles throughout this multi-tiered gown are right on trend for the season. I also like how the actress keeps her accessories to a minimum and let's the dress speak for itself.

Blake Lively in Chanel. From Blake's colorful earrings to her T-strap platforms, this look has fresh and flirty written all over it.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 3:25pm GMT

This week was all about making making the cut. And the winners are...

Kim Kardashian rocking a Zuhair Murad gown at the 38th Annual FiFi Awards. Buttons down the bodice, in combination with a belt and embellished pockets, added extra dimension to this futuristic number.

Eva Mendes wearing a Gianfranco Ferr gown at the 9th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. The actress looked like a Grecian goddess in this halter dress, which was outlined with a thick band of beautiful, gold beading.

Gwyneth Paltrow in a custom Michael Kors Slice gown at the CFDA Fashion Awards. Party edgy, part glam, this gown fit the "Iron Man" actress to a "T."

Sarah Jessica Parker in a vibrant Alexander McQueen gown at the CFDA Fashion Awards. I love how SJP continues to pay tribute to the late designer, while looking gorgeous every step of the way.

Devon Aoki
wearing a Zac Posen gown at the CFDA Fashion Awards. The jagged edge really adds a modern twist to this otherwise classic black and white gown.

Which star's style is most memorable?
