Red-Carpet Recap: Versace for H&M Fashion Event

Posted by kgranero 2:43pm GMT

Celebs brought to life the Versace for H&M collection, which hits stores later this month, at a fashion event held in honor of the collaboration last night in New York.

My favorite Versace for H&M looks included those of Jessica Alba (who sparkled in a gold-flecked blouse and full skirt), Jennifer Hudson (who oozed sex appeal in a corseted LBD) and Selma Blair (who popped in a pink shift dress with a metal stud pattern throughout).

Kaylee Defer (in a flirty fringed frock) and Emma Roberts (in a tropical bustier and hot pant number) opted for more playful pieces.

Celebs Can't Get Enough of Dolce & Gabbana Stars

Posted by babu 3:12pm GMT

Who says celebs don't get star-struck?

In the three weeks following my last post featuring leading ladies wearing starry styles from Dolce & Gabbana's Fall 2011 collection, all four of Lucy Liu, Olivia Wilde, Jessica Alba and, most recently, Fergie (at the Teen Choice Awards) have opted for celestial prints from the collection.

In addition, Anne Hathaway was photographed wearing a piece from the collection for the cover of the Marie Claire UK September issue.

See more celebs wearing star prints.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:54pm GMT

This week was all about looking like a lady. And the winners are...

Jessica Alba in Dolce & Gabbana at the Lucky Magazine and ThisNext Celebration. The second-time-mom-to-be struck the perfect balance between soft and sexy in this feline-friendly frock.

Emmanuelle Chriqui in Julien Macdonald at the “Entourage” Season Eight Premiere. Emmanuelle proved she can still turn heads without showing a lot of skin in this breezy gown, which featured a black, sequined halter neckline.

Emma Stone in Tom Ford at the "Crazy, Stupid Love" World Premiere.Emmahas a real talent for choosing sophisticated styles with a youthful touch. She hit it right on the mark in this lace-overlay tulip dress. She brought her look home with a burgundy "Mad Men" lip.

Mila Kunis in Lanvin at the "Friends With Benefits" New York Premiere. The film's leading looked red-hot in this simplistic, yet sensational, off-the-shoulder sheath, which featured ruching in all the right places.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Chloeat the“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”Japan Premiere. When it comes to the red carpet, Rosieis one of those actresses/models that cando no wrong in my eyes. Sheoozed femininity and grace in this silk gown, which revealed just enough skin to still remainclassy.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 7:13pm GMT

This week was all about breaking color boundaries. And the winners are...

Kristen Wiig in J. Mendel at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. The comedian and "Bridesmaids" star mesmerized in this mustard-hied gown, which featured beautiful beading along the shoulders. I also loved her brave, bold lip.

Blake Lively in Michael Kors at the MTV Movie Awards. While simple in style, the "Gossip Girl" actress's true-blue, cutout sheath proved oh-so-slick. Blake finished off her look with purple Christian Louboutin platforms.

Alessandra Ambrosio in Prabal Gurung at the CFDA Fashion Awards. The Victoria's Secret model proved she doesn't have to show a lot of skin to look sexy in this silky sensation, which she topped off with a matching lip and tribal jewelry.

Chanel Iman in BCBG Max Azria at the CFDA Fashion Awards. Miss Iman added a tropical touch to the carpetwith this beach-bound turquoise maxi dress. Strappy gold sandals completed her breezy look.

Jessica Alba in Diane von Furstenberg at the CFDA Fashion Awards. The actress worked her maternity glow, while test-driving one of the season's hottest trends, in this color-blocked maxi dress.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 2:36pm GMT

This week was all about colorful gowns. And the winners are...

Rihanna
in Christian Dior at the 2011 BRIT Awards. Rihanna popped in this multipatterned, multitextured, multicolored masterpiece, which she further amped up with matching teal pumps.

Heidi Klum in Julien MacDonald at the 2011 Grammy Awards. The "Project Runway" star exuded old Hollywood glam from head to toe in this gleaming, gold gown, which boasted sexy cutouts along the shoulders and in back.

Thandie Newton in Monique Lhuillier at the 2011 BAFTA Awards. The actress oozed romance in this rosette-print, paint splashed taffeta gown, which she paired with modest jewelry and a chic chignon.

Jessica Alba in Atelier Versace at the 2011 BAFTA Awards. Jessica looked the part of a tribal princess in this royal blue gown with intricate ruching along the corset-like bodice. I also love the actress's exotic necklace and ring pairing.

Nicole Kidman in Jean Paul Gaultier at the 2011 Grammy Awards. I'm not exactly Nicole's biggest fan when it comes to the red-carpet, but even I can't deny that she looked gorgeous in this gardenesque gown, which concluded with a partially-sheer and ruffled fishtail train.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 6:24pm GMT

This week was all about super flirty, some flowy. And the winners are...

Diane Kruger
in Gucci at the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris. Every once in a while, Diane switches up her "ladies who lunch" Chanel frocks with something a little daring, and I love it! The allover gold plating on this halter dress ooze tribal chic, and the actress's matching sandals prove the perfect complement.

Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2011 Creative Coalition Spotlight Initiative Awards in Utah. I love how the actress added a rustic, brown belt to really round out this otherwise fru-fru frock.

Jessica Alba in Gucci at the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris. This is one of those red carpet dresses that screams "I've still got it" or, in Miss Alba's case, "I never lost it." My only regret is that this sparkly, asymmetrical sensation wasn't around during the star's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" days, as it would've made for the perfect premiere piece.

Caroline Sieber in Louis Vuitton at the Sidaction Gala Dinner in Paris. While the loose fit, lace fabric and feminine shape of the stylist's recent ensemble lend themselves to a softer, more feminine look, the bold color pairing is truly refreshing.

Heidi Klum in Marchesa at the InStyle Best of British Talent BAFTA Party in London. Between it's illusionary inset neckline, allover beading and feathered accents, this dress is as flirty as it is fierce! The Project Runway host topped off her playful piece with open-toe booties.

Red Carpet Recap: Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week

Posted by babu 4:10pm GMT

Hollywood's couture climbers have been caught up in the high-end fashion heaven that is Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week.

Some of my favorite looks to have surfaced thus far include those of Diane Kruger (who showed off her edgier side in a heavy-metal, haltered Gucci dress), Olivia Wilde (who also got gutsy in a Gucci color-block jumpsuit and tribal necklace and sandals) and Jessica Alba (who sizzled in a sparkly, asymmetrical Gucci sheath and delicate ankle-strap sandals).

Kirsten Dunst
and Alexa Chung took the more classical route in a midnight-colored, pleated Chanel number (Kirsten) and a Chanel tuxedo dress (from the Fall 2010 Couture collection (Alexa).

Which star's fashion week style is most sensational?

Sheer Tops: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 3:51pm GMT

Have you ever passed up a perfectly good (and partially sheer) blouse to spare yourself the agony of finding the perfect undershirt to wear underneath?

Good news! According to celebs like Keri Hilson, Katie Holmes and Jessica Alba, those days are numbered.

Whether worn casually with jeans or dressy with cropped pants or skirts, even the most conservative celebs are warming up (not literally, of course) to the idea of sheer tops worn sans camis.

This became a hot topic of discussion among myself and a fellow producer and, all in all, we concluded that sheer tops can be sexy if worn over a black, modest bra and with a blazer or cardigan for extra coverage (and only in nightlife, non-professional, settings). Can we say New Year's?

What's your take on sheer tops?
