This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 3:25pm GMT

This week was all about showing off your girly side. And the winners are...

Julianne Hough
in Randi Rahm at the 2011 ACM Awards. The "DWTS" dancer truly popped in this melon-colored halter gown, which featured a partially sheer skirt with floral emboridering and a sexy open back.

Heidi Klum
in Gucci at the 2011 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Edgy meets sophistication in the "Project Runway" star's heavily embellished shift dress, which she playfully paired with suede, open-toe platform booties.

Taylor Swift in Elie Saab at the 2011 ACM Awards. Taylor took the subtle approach to sweet in this pastel yellow gown, which was covered with intricate emboridering and floral appliques.

Iman in Marc Jacobs at the the Point Foundation’s 4th Annual Point Honors event in New York. Iman oozed romance in this asymmetrical silk sensation, which was adorned with a beautiful rosette at the waist.

Miley Cyrus in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2011 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The usually edgy Miley looked refreshing (and adorable) in this breezy, floral-print maxi dress, which she casually accessorized with layered necklaces and what appeared to be a cage ring.

Which star's girly style is your fave?

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards

Posted by babu 1:14pm GMT

Country crooners flocked to Las Vegas last night to attend the 2011 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.

Some of the night's most notable looks included those of Julianne Hough (who proved a pop of color in a tangerine Randi Rahm halter gown with allover floral embroidering and a sexy, exposed back), "Entertainer of the Year" winner Taylor Swift (who showed off her softer side in a pastel yellow Elie Saab gown with a lace overlay featuring intricate beading and chiffon, flower appliques along the neckline and hem) and Carrie Underwood (who looked vibrant in a violet-hued Jean Fares Couture gown with floral appliques along what appeared to be hidden pockets). While I loved the rich hue and girly details on Carrie's gown, I don't think the loose fit or style did anything for her athletic figure (especially in the chest area).

Reese Witherspoon wore a tulle and lace bandage-style sweetheart dress from Marchesa, which I loved but thought could have used a little more definition. Not surprisingly, Nicole Kidman opted for a snakeskin-leather L'Wren Scott bodice, which featured a built-in boa around the neck. While I didn't HATE her dress, I would've liked to have seen it paired with a more direct shoe, and not a dainty peep-toe.

Who was your best-dressed at the 2011 ACM Awards?

Red-Carpet Recap: "Burlesque" Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 2:58pm GMT

Not surprisingly, the "Burlesque" premiere in Los Angeles was characterized by sexy (and sometimes skimpy) showstoppers.

Some of the more notable red-carpet looks included those of film stars Christina Aguilera (in a beautifully draped, spearmint-colored Elie Saab gown) and Cher (who got leggy in a sky-high LBD with lace overlay), as well as actress Debi Mazar (who made a statement in a burgundy jacquard Carolina Herrera dress with peekaboo neckline).

Country crooner Julianne Hough (in a gold Georges Hobeika dress and gold peep-toe platforms) and Rebecca Gayheart (in a raspberry jacquard Monique Lhuillier sheath) also left imprints.

Which celeb's "Burlesque" look deserves five stars?

Red-Carpet Recap: 2010 CMT Music Awards

Posted by babu 12:20pm GMT

No glittery, Glinda-style gowns? No larger-than-life hair? If it weren't for the labeled screens in the background, you wouldn't guess these shots were taken at the 2010 CMT Music Awards.

While both Taylor Swift (in Galliano) and Kellie Pickler (in Zuhair Murad) appeared to be wearing 18th century curtains, I actually liked the fashion picks of both Julianne Hough (in a sunny Georges Hobeika mini) and Faith Hill (in a flowy J. Mendel gown).

And, though I loved the color of Carrie Underwood's fuchsia Jenny Packham dress, I just can't get past that gold, sequined dog collar. Woof!

Which country star's style is classiest?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 3:48pm GMT

This week was all about shimmer. And the winners are...

Taylor Swift in a lavender Marchesa gown at the 2010 ACM Awards. The embroidered detailing along the illusionary inset chest and bodice of this gown added a romantic touch.

Jennifer Lopez
getting leggy in Georges Chakra at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue Celebration. Gold ghingham detailing gave this dress a truly luxe feel.

Julianne Hough
glowing in a white Basil Soda gown at the 2010 ACM Awards. Metallic, shieldlike detailing along the bodice added more dimension to the otherwise simplistic dress.

Halle Berry
rocking a nude Gucci number at the 30th Anniversary Silver Rose Gala and Auction. Cutouts along the shoulder and midriff, along with a metallic neckline, were the saucy staples of this sheath.

Carrie Underwood shimmering in a champagne-colored Basil Soda dress at the 2010 ACM Awards. Precise pleating all over this dress, culminating at the one shoulder, proved perfection.

Which star's red-carpet look truly sparkles?

Best-Dressed at the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards

Posted by babu 1:01pm GMT

It's that time of year again! America's most fashion-forward country crooners flocked to the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards last night.

Some of my favorite looks of the night included those of Taylor Swift (in a beautifully embroidered Marchesa gown), Carrie Underwood (rocking a gold Basil Soda mini) and Julianne Hough, who donned a white Basil Soda gown with futuristic paneling.

Red-Carpet Recap: Saks Fifth Avenue's Unforgettable Evening

Posted by babu 2:39pm GMT

Celebs like Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon and Christina Applegate joined forces (and peep-toes) to raise awareness for the EIF Women's Cancer Research Fund at this year's Unforgettable Evening Benefit in Beverly Hills. Style highlights included...

Taylor Swift wearing an asymmetrical dress from the Valentino Resort 2010 collection. While this look is a little more sophisticated than Taylor's usual red-carpet fare, she incorporates her signature sparkle with glittery peep-toes and clutch.

Reese Witherspoon working it in a taupe Jason Wu dress with black lace overlay. Walking the fine line between sickeningly sweet and dangerously seductive, this dress is right on cue with Reese's sexy, southern belle style.

Julianne Hough posing in a white sequin and feather shift dress by Jenny Packham. This flirty frock, paired with a silver "Freeze" clutch by Daniel Swarovski, looks absolutely adorable on the DWTS dancer and country singer. She gets bonus points for her playful, disco ball earrings.

Christina Applegate glowing in a pink, silk taffeta sheath by Dolce & Gabbana. Metallic, capped sleeves and black strips of fabric add more dimension to this ruched sensation.

Olivia Wilde sporting a gray body-hugger and open-toed booties. While I'm usually a huge fan of Olivia's style, this look seems a little bland. I would've liked to see her accessorize a bit more or do something with her hair.

Which star's Unforgettable Evening style is truly unforgettable?

Style Showdown: Julianne Hough vs. Michelle Williams

Posted by babu 5:13pm GMT

I've been in love with this coral-colored Jenny Packham creation (from the Spring 2010 collection) ever since I saw it worn by "Dancing With the Stars" regular and country singer Julianne Hough at the 2009 CMT Awards back in June, so I was pretty quick to spot it on singer Michelle Williams at the Ashish runway show during London Fashion Week.

Though I think the feminine ruffle detailing and cinched waste do wonders for both leading ladies, I prefer Julianne's earrings, as they are more delicate and tend not to compete so much with the exquisite jewel detailing along the dress' neckline (my favorite part!).

Which singer looks prettier in Packham?
