What the Jason Wu for Target Line Looks Like on Real (ish) Women

Posted by kgranero 12:24pm GMT

Celebs showed their support for Jason Wu for Target at the collection's official launch party last night in New York.

Though I wouldn't exactly call these leading ladies "average," it's always refreshing to see collections come to life on the red carpet as opposed to just seeing them on the runway or in magazine ads.

While Jaime King (whose look was my fave) and Chloe Moretz opted for blouse and pleated skirt pairings, Emmy Rossum went for a more refined, yet slightly romantic look.

Blake Lively rocked a lace-print-lined trench from the collection over a Jason Wu peplum sheath.

Check out the entire Jason Wu for Target collection.

One Designer, Two Ways: Versace

Posted by kgranero 12:20pm GMT

Nicki Minaj worked it in a black Versace gown with tracings of white at Billboard's Sixth Annual Women In Music Event this past weekend.

Blake Lively wore an inverse (and shorter) make from the same mold (that being the Resort 2012 collection) just a few weeks back at the Versace For H&M Fashion Event in New York.

While each style is fit for a different occasion, I don't like how Blake sucked the life out of her dress with a basic blazer and matching tights and shoes, so I'm giving this one to Nicki.

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

Colored Leather Coats: Trend or Foe?

Posted by kgranero 12:48pm GMT

Celebs like Blake Lively, Lady Gaga and Evan Rachel Wood are battling the cold-weather wardrobe blues with brightly hued leather coats.

While I admire these celebs' bold approaches to outerwear dressing, I think bright colors prove a better (and more comfortable) fit for felts, wools and winter accessories.

What's your take on colored leather coats?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 4:00pm GMT

This week was all about letting personalities shine. And the winners are...

Blake Lively
in Gucci Resort at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. Summer-meets-fall in this tangerine-hued, leather sheath, which the "Gossip Girl" actress accessorized with turquoise jewelry and leopard pumps.

Taylor Swift in Rafael Cennamo at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. The singing sensation pulled a "Marilyn Monroe" in this full-skirted cocktail dress with beautiful beading along the waistline. She completed her look with bowed peep-toes.

Diane Kruger
in Jason Wu Resort at the 10th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree. As usual, the actress pushed the envelope in this tuxedo short ensemble, which she lightened up with a colorful bag and shoe.

Kaley Cuoco in Rebecca Taylor at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. This multi-tiered and pleated dress looks like something from the "SATC2" set. Maybe that's because it looks similar to one of Carrie Bradshaw's Halston Heritage numbers. Either way, it oozes luxury vacation.

Jordana Brewster
in Oscar de la Renta at the 10th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree. Jordana struck the perfect balance between sexy and sweet in this pleated and ruched dress. While I love her retro shoe pairing, I wish she would have opted for a different colored clutch (too matchy-matchy).

Which star's unique style is your fave?

Style Showdown: Blake Lively vs. Elizabeth Banks

Posted by babu 12:30pm GMT

No woman wants to be caught at the same affair (especially when formal) wearing the same dress as someone else.

And, while not quite as damaging, I can imagine seeing someone else wearing bright-colored leather (after all, why else would you be wearing it if it weren't for the sake of standing out?) follows suit.

While Blake Lively opted for a tangerine Gucci Resort sheath, Elizabeth Banks looked red-hot in a body-hugging number from J. Mendel, both worn to this year's Teen Choice Awards in Universal City.

Who looked better in colored leather?

Taylor Swift Boards the Tibi Train!

Posted by babu 5:31pm GMT

Maybe it's a blonde thing, but Taylor Swift is at least the third celeb to have worn this embroidered and laser-cut Tibi dress (from the Spring 2011 collection), fourth if you count Brooklyn Decker (also blonde), who opted for the white version.

While Blake Lively and Kaley Cuoco accessorized with cute bags and shoes, Taylor took accessorizing one step further, incorporating a gold skinny belt into her look.

Which star looked prettiest in Tibi?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 5:05pm GMT

This week was all about dreamy drapery. And the winners are...

Emma Watson in Bottega Veneta at the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" premiere in New York. Emma has been pulling out all the stops in celebration of the film's series finale, and this corseted creation is no exception.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in Alexander McQueen at the 2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event. As usual, the Duchess looked simply sensational in this pleated, chiffon gown, which she accessorized with a metallic clutch.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta at the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" premiere in New York. The "SATC" star showed off her artistic side in this brush-painted gown, topping off her look with a menswear blazer and turquoise earrings.

Blake Lively in Marchesa at the2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event. The "Gossip Girl," who usually has a penchant for the low-cut and leggy, enchanted onlookers in this romantic, chiffon gown, which featured beautiful embroidering along the neckline, sleeves and hem.

Jennifer Garner in YSL at the2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event.I'm hereby declaring sapphire as Jennifer's "IT" color because, every time she wears it, she receives a standing ovation. This asymmetrical gown, while loose-fitting, managed to hug the actress in all the right places.

Which leading lady's drapey style is dreamiest?

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event

Posted by babu 12:31pm GMT

High-profile celebrities epitomized the word glamour at the 2011 BAFTA Brits to Watch Event this past weekend.

The evening's standout styles included those of Catherine Middleton, formallyreferred to as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (who captivated onlookers in a pastel Alexander McQueen gown with romantic pleating throughout), Jennifer Lopez (who proved she's still got it, and then some, in an Emilio Pucci gown with cutout detailing throughout) and Jennifer Garner (who came out of hiding in an asymmetrical, sapphire gown that appeared almost liquid).

Blake Lively (who looked whimsical in a beautifully beaded Marchesa gown) and Nicole Kidman (who kept it simple, yet sensational, in a sequined Elie Saab number) were also among those to leave a lasting impression.

Who was your best-dressed at the BAFTA event?

Style Showdown: Blake Lively vs. Kaley Cuoco

Posted by babu 12:17pm GMT

There must be something about this dress (from the Tibi Spring 2011 collection) that brings out a woman's wild side.

Not only did Blake Lively and Brooklyn Decker style the dress with leopard accessories (see previous post), but actress and singer Kaley Cuoco packed some extra punch into her luncheon look with a giraffe-print clutch (she wore the dress to the P.S. ARTS Bag Lunch sponsored by Dior Beauty back in May).

While I prefer Blake's shoe pairing, I am partial to Kaley's bag, so this one's an accessory draw.

Who looked more polished in Tibi?
